Bug#869576: intltool patch

2017-07-24 Thread gregor herrmann
Cf. #826471 in intltool which contains a patch.

I haven't looked if/how far it needs to be adadpted for the old
embedded versions of intltool-update but it might serve as a starting
point.

Hm, right; I think there's a possibility to get access with a -guest
Alioth account but I don't remember from the top off my head how this
works.

Thanks for the info.
Unfortunately I'm neither maintaining nor interested in maintaing
tvtime (I just fixed a bug in the package); the issue is already
tracked in the Debian BTS at
https://bugs.debian.org/653376
so I'm cc'ing this bug report now.

Thanks, and sorry for the delay in reviewing.

Ok.

Some notes:

- d/copyright:
This needs an update, according to the diff the new copyright
statement (for "Files: *") is now:

- Copyright 2009-2013, Damien Stuart and Michael Rash
+Copyright (C) 2009-2015 fwknop developers and contributors. For a full
+list of contributors, see the file 'CREDITS'.

- d/rules:
Another way to set bindnow is:
  export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+bindnow
  Cf. man 1 dpkg-buildflags

- debug packages:
You can drop the -dbg packages, we have automatic -dbgsym packages
  now. Cf. e.g. man 1 dh_strip.
(And since the packages are renamed, I think we don't need the
  migration handling here.)

- there's a warning about sysmbols during build:
dpkg-gensymbols: warning: some libraries disappeared in the symbols file:
libfko.so.2
dpkg-gensymbols: warning: debian/libfko3/DEBIAN/symbols doesn't match
completely debian/libfko3.symbols
[..]
not sure if this is a problem or not ...
  hm, why "libfko.so.2"?

- As for the renaming of the libraries, I'm not sure if we need to do
a bit more. I guess there are no reverse dependencies outside this
source package? But even then, we should help users to get rid of
the libfko2* packages, probably with Breaks: libfko2*
  (I see that libfko3-dev has a "Conflicts: libfko-dev".)
Cf. https://wiki.debian.org/RenamingPackages (although I guess we
need only the Breaks. -- Oh, no, we also need Replaces, as e.g.
  libfko3-dev installs ./usr/include/fko.h and
  ./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfko.a
And for the dbg/dbgsym-package we probably do also need
  dh_strip --dbgsym-migration ...

And lots of time later I have something which seems to work; cf.
  attached diff.

gregor

Bug#672236: RFP: libnet-lite-ftp-perl -- Net::Lite::FTP - Perl FTP client with support for TLS

Hi Maxy,

this package existed and was removed in 2010, cf.
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=565418
https://lists.debian.org/debian-perl/2010/01/msg00021.html

CPAN has newer releases indeed but when I read the embedded POD at
https://metacpan.org/pod/Net::Lite::FTP this stll looks sad.

Ah, #672236 also mentions the old discussions.

If I understand the situation correctly, Net::FTP::Lite is used in
backup-manager for FTP over SSL connections; that's a feature that
Net::FTP (in perl core) also has: https://metacpan.org/pod/Net::FTP
since (libnet) 1.28 / 2014-10-08:
https://metacpan.org/changes/distribution/libnet

Checking /usr/share/perl/5.20.2/Net/FTP.pm (stable) and
/usr/share/perl/5.22.2/Net/FTP.pm (testing/unstable) confirms that
this in not in 5.20/stable but already in 5.22/testing.

I would suggest that backup-manager uses Net::FTP with its SSL
support.

Cheers,
gregor

Bug#752799: obexftp: hardcodes /usr/lib/perl5

Control: tag -1 + patch

On Thu, 26 Jun 2014 20:03:25 +0300, Niko Tyni wrote:

For this to work, packages containing binary perl modules need to migrate
from using the hardcoded /usr/lib/perl5 directory to the value of the
$Config{vendorarch} variable, as defined in the 'Config' module.

This package fails to build with perl_5.20.0-1 from experimental:

   dh_install --sourcedir=debian/tmp --autodest --fail-missing -X.la
   dh_install: libobexftp-perl missing files (usr/lib/perl5/*), aborting

One solution for this might be an executable debhelper install file
(available with debhelper compat level 9) expanding $Config{vendorarch}.
See #751924 for an example of this.

I'm attaching a patch which uses a .install.in file and a
substitution from d/rules.

 Hi,

Attached patch would fix this FTBFS, could you consider to apply it,
  please?

This package is orphaned, so I guess you won't get many answers but
should just go on with a QA upload :)

Cheers,
gregor

Bug#689537: pdnsd: deletes conffiles on package removal (policy 10.7.3): /etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/002_NetMan_pdnsd

2012-10-22 Thread gregor herrmann
On Mon, 22 Oct 2012 00:16:19 +0200, Andreas Beckmann wrote:

With the prerm script gone this issue is fixed for squeeze-sid upgrades
(and squeeze-wheezy upgrades once 1.2.8-par-3 migrates to wheezy), but
the problem (missing conffile) will still exist if the user had any
 version from 1.2.8-par-2, ..., 1.2.8-par-2.3 installed.

I don't see an easy solution for this ... as
   old-prerm upgrade new-version
is the very first step of the upgrade, there is no hacking around this
by deleting a buggy maintainer script during
   new-preinst upgrade old-version

Right, when upgrading from one of those versions the file gets
removed. (And not even reinstalling helps, and dpkg-query knows about
the conffile ...)

 Maybe this could work:
ship another copy of the file in /usr/share and in the postinst do

 if dpkg --compare-versions $upgrade_from ge 1.2.8-par-2~
dpkg --compare-versions $upgrade_from lt 1.2.8-par-4~
 then
   target=/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/002_NetMan_pdnsd
   source=/usr/share/.../002_NetMan_pdnsd
   if [ ! -e $target ]; then
 echo restoring $target
 cp $source $target
   fi
 fi

but it's only upgrades from pdnsd/testing that are affected

Should work; not sure if it's worth the effort ...

gregor

what would be the best course of action then?

I hope that Andreas, as the piuparts expert and bug submitter, can
shed some light on this issue.

Log attached, the piuparts call should be sufficiently similar to
what Andreas used.

Bug#674006: libwvstreams4.6-base 4.6.1-4 ----- wvdial stopped working

As you were the kind DD who fixed the gcc 4.7 failure to build for
 libwvstreaams4.6-base, I am emailing you
regarding this bug since you might be able to do a QA upload.

Thanks for adding all these informations to the bug log!

I attach the Fedora version of the patch. It may need to be refreshed
 for use in
 Debian.

The original discussion at Fedora for this bug is found at:
 http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.extras.cvs/779635

Would you be able to refresh this patch and upload to Debian?

In general yes but ...

I am unable to do this since I am a lowly uploader for an unrelated
 packages festival and speech-tools.
I have no archive upload privileges to Debian.

... you could still prepare a package (and send the debdiff to this
bug) and test it and check if it affects other reverse dependencies.

If you are unable to address this, do you know the correct DD to
assist since it appears to me the package is
 an orphan?

I'm afraid there is no correct DD for an orphaned package :)

If you prepare an updated package you can also cc the debian-qa or
debian-mentors mailing lists, so others can have a look at the diff.

Cheers,
gregor

To avoid noise to your account I will not copy you to subsequent emails
regarding this bug where I can avoid it. I, of course, welcome any feedback
if you choose to give it.

Don't worry, I will read whatever gets added to this bug (as I'm
subscribed to it), and I'll read it only once (thanks to procmail).

And I'm happy to take a look, and maybe also upload a proposed new
version, although I'd still prefer some tests and feedback from
someone who has better knowledge of the package.

Thanks,

I am currently away from my main computer, without any v4l devices, but
last try I used camstream, it was working nicely. Maybe it is related to
your device? I'll have a look next week when I come back from holiday.

Anything new?
