Bug#846661: light-locker: screen remains black after unlock

2017-01-16 Thread Ian Jackson
I'm afraid I have no idea why this might have broken. I'm no expert
on this desktop type stuff. Personally I use xtrlock as my
screenlocker.

It is possible that this is related to the cgroups fs problem for
which Michael Biebl applied a patch, and which I have uploaded to
Debian experimental. You could try systemd-shim 10-3~exp2.

If you find out what the problem is, I would apply a patch to
systemd-shim (if applicable).

Good luck.

Ian.

Bug#776606: systemd-shim is frequently running pm-suspend for no good reason

2017-01-16 Thread Ian Jackson
I think systemd-shim is probably doing this on your system because
some dbus client told it to. I don't know what that might be.

I am no expert on any of this kind of dbus desktop stuff. But maybe
you can find some hints with a dbus monitoring tool of some kind ?

Good luck.

Ian.

Package: systemd-shim
Version: 9-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream patch

Hi,

the systemd-shim is currently lacking support for hybrid sleep.
Since e.g. upower by default tries to trigger hybrid sleep on laptops
when the battery goes critically low, this can lead to data loss.

(To make the current situation worse, invoking
org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.HybridSleep on the dbus fails with the
misleading error message

  Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.FileNotFound: Unknown unit:
hybrid-sleep.target

which does *not* imply that /lib/systemd/system/hybrid-sleep.target does
not exist.)

I have cooked up a patch that adds hybrid sleep support to the systemd
shim. It would be great if you could apply it to the Debian package.

Thanks,
Nikolaus
