kdeaddons 3.2 upload + warning

2004-02-06 Thread Ben Burton

Hi. I've uploaded kdeaddons packages to people.debian.org/~bab to go
with the other modules that I've put there, but a small warning: the
atlantikdesigner package is empty (since I don't yet have a kdegames 3.2
module to build against).

Ben.

Bug#231491: kde-core: typo in package description

Package: kde-core
Version: 4:3.1.2
Severity: minor

Presumably "debase" is meant to be "kdebase".

Anyone DDs willing to sponsor oKle?

2004-02-06 Thread Christopher Martin
Hello,

I've built a package of oKle, a KDE front-end for Ogle with a number
of enhancements compared to ogle-gui, and am looking for a sponsor
who would be willing to do the uploads. The package passes linda and
lintian, excepting out-of-date warnings concerning the menu entry.
Upstream is supportive of my efforts.

This package was requested a long time ago, so I've retitled it an ITP
(Bug #154383). I posted to debian-mentors, but no one seemed
interested, so I thought I'd make a last try here. I'd very much like
to contribute to Debian - but for now I do need a sponsor.

(This is my first package, but in time I may add other packages,
likely simple end-user KDE apps at first - gwenview, for instance, is
woefully unmaintained).

The package (and an updated gwenview) can be tested by adding these
lines to sources.list:

deb http://chrsmrtn.freeshell.org/debian ./
deb-src http://chrsmrtn.freeshell.org/debian ./

Let me know!

Thanks,
Christopher Martin

Bug#231406: kdelibs-data: conflict with x-kudesigner.desktop from kugar

2004-02-06 Thread Frans Pop
Package: kdelibs-data
Version: 4:3.2.0-0woody1
Severity: minor

I ran into a packaging problem during the upgrade for Woody from 3.1.4 to 3.2.
(both from download.kde.org).

Preparing to replace kdelibs-data 4:3.1.4-0woody1 (using
.../kdelibs-data_4%3a3.2.0-0woody1_all.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement kdelibs-data ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/kdelibs-data_4%3a3.2.0-0woody1_all.deb (--unpack):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/share/mimelnk/application/x-kudesigner.desktop',
which is also in package kugar

My version of kugar is:
NameVersion Description
===--
kugar 1.2.1-0woody2a business report maker for the KDE Office Suite

As my kugar is from a semi-official backport, I have given priority minor. I
still think it may be worth solving this conflict because probably more
people have this backport installed.

Bug#231392: konqueror: Can't talk to klauncher

2004-02-06 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.1.3-1
Severity: normal

I run wmaker and use the session support by wmaker to restore the
windows when X is started with startx.

Konqueror-windows are opened fine, but sometimes I get for every
window the error message (a button):
Could not start process Can't talk to klauncher

If you want I can provide a screenshot of this.

I tried manually starting klauncher with
klauncher &
but this does not help (nor do I see a process klauncher running
afterwards).

The same error appears when pressing the "Home" button, and local file
directory browsing is impossible; the file open dialog is also
unusuable.

This also happend with konqueror under woody, but was not reported.

I am not sure how to properly debug this to report the error more
precicesly. Please tell me what to look for/at when this happenes next
time, to provide you with the necessary details.

My *impression* (!!) is, that it is related to system load. If only
one konqueror window is to be openend, the error is a lot less likly
to occur; also usually the system has some load when X is started
directly after boot (e.g. checksecurity), so it takes a while for the
konqueror windows to appear (much later than e.g. the xterms). But I
might be wrong on that guess.

It would be great if at least a possibility existed, to (re)start
klauncher manually instead of having unusuable konqueror windows.

Even better would be, if all windows could be opend at once (with the
proper location on the screen and maybe even the proper directories).
But I know KDE has decided against this route.
