Bug#240393: kate: Kate does not restore window configuration.

2004-03-26 Thread Bart Samwel
Package: kate
Version: 4:3.2.1-1
Severity: normal

I've selected "restore window configuration on startup", but it doesn't.
I've got the Files pane pinned on the left side, and it simply doesn't
come back pinned on the left side when I restart kate: it comes back
closed.

Bug#240388: kate: Paste into terminal gives garbage

2004-03-26 Thread Bart Samwel
Package: kate
Version: 4:3.2.1-1
Severity: normal

When I paste a large amount of selected text from kate into a terminal
window (where I'm doing something like "cat > myfile") using the middle
mouse button, I get some garbage in between. To reproduce, take a file
that consists of 700 lines "aslkdfj;alksdj;flkasjd;k", select the
first 632, do "cat >myfile" in a terminal, middle click, and look at
what's been pasted.

Oh, this might be needed to reproduce this: I'm running konsole as a
terminal, and the desktop environment is Gnome. :)

Oh, then this is of course your problem, you haven't started kded or
some other necessary service ( I'm not sure ). Anyway, what you
should do is ( if you're running kdm ), just select menu->session
type->kde3, before you login. Let me know if this fixes your
problem.

Bug#240188: Package dependencies violate policy

2004-03-26 Thread Stephen Zander
> "Riku" == Riku Voipio <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes:
Riku> are you really going to file a RC bug against all of these?

In an admittedly unscientific sampling of those reports, all the ones
I looked at were for dependencies on xlibs-dev. I would expect such
issues to be fixed as packages were recompiled for whatever reason.
Should they continue beyond the next release then yes, I will happily
file serious bugs against all such instances.

Xlibs-static-pic has *never* been priority: optional so a dependency
on xlibs-static-pic is *not* the same thing IMHO.

Yes. "Extra" is for things which conflict with "Optional" packages, and I
don't see that xlibs-static-pic conflicts with any "optional" packages.

Well I checked all other applets like Klipper, clock, keyboard layout, the
runaway process catcher, the new kmail tray. Everything shows correctly but
the KSysGuard is just empty.

I tried running some of the applets with appletproxy but that didn't work and
I couldn't find a way to start an applet with some kind of debug info.

If that matters after upgrading from 3.1 I couldn't start KDE in the normal
way, X just dumped me into multi gnome terminal and I had to type

kdesktop &
kicker &
kwin &

This means that kdelibs 3.2 will probably propagate to testing tonight,
*without* kdebase 3.2. Will this break KDE in testing?

Re: Bug#236771: krdc bug :)

2004-03-26 Thread Kirk Strauser
The workaround I discovered is to put krdc into "Fullscreen mode". When it
is in fullscreen, I can send keyboard input to the remote machine. When
it's not in fullscreen, I can't. This is true in all situations for every
machine that I connect to.

Bug#240216: kget: Becomes a CPU hog after sitting idle for a while

2004-03-26 Thread Alberto Marmodoro
Package: kget
Version: 4:3.2.1-1
Severity: normal

After some generic usage of the program, it appears to fall into an
error loop, AFAIK interacting with the XFree86 server:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
  Major opcode: 15
  Minor opcode: 0
  Resource id: 0x4a7
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
  Major opcode: 12
  Minor opcode: 0
  Resource id: 0x4a7
[...]
This goes on forever, sometimes creating a bigger and bigger
xsession-errors log file which fills the filesystem. Otherwise the file
won't grow, but still the processor usage (system) jump to the max and
stays there.
A workaround seems to be quitting and restarting the application, or the
whole X session.

Thanks!

Stephen, have a look at:

http://qa.debian.org/debcheck.php?list=priority&package=&arch=ANY&dist=sid

are you really going to file a RC bug against all of these?

xlibs-static-pic issue

2004-03-26 Thread Chris Cheney
I think I am going to remove the xlibs-static-pic dependency from
libarts1-dev. It technically isn't needed and now that Xinerama isn't
linked in anymore isn't really needed by default for all kde sources
anymore either. Anyone that does patch in the pic libs needs to build
depend on it specifically. Also, it is probably a good idea if you happen
to maintain any X based packages to check to see if you have all the pic
replacement libs set like you should. There are now a lot more than were
in X 4.2.

Thanks,
Chris

Ah yes, all those packages that depend on kdelibs4-dev :/

Guess you'll have to see what Branden says.
