Personaly, I have a guess. Rebuilding Qt also requires rebuilding every app
(well, maybe not all of them, only those with own plugins) that depends on
libqt (the reason is described in "Qt Plugins HOWTO" in official Qt docs).

Anyway, that's only a guess. Martin, Ralf where are you? Please, give as an
explanation and we'll give you a break :)

I agree. I've checked: Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE, Xandros – all have STL enabled
Qt, only Slackware hasn't.

Bug#248891: kuser: UID sort should be in number order, not ascii order

2004-05-13 Thread Pierre THIERRY

Version: 4:3.2.2-1

I don't see why anyone could want the UIDs in ascii order (1,10,11,100
and so on...). Why aren't they sorted in numer order?

Bug#248880: kontact: Email links on the front page flawed

2004-05-13 Thread Peter Eisentraut
Package: kontact
Version: 4:3.2.2-2
Severity: normal

On the front page there are several links to email folders with
recent(?) messages under news. Clicking on one of these links opens
the email component, but not the actual mail folder in question.
(Instead, the folder last used, or the default folder, is open.)

Bug#248876: kontact: RSS sources create strange layout

2004-05-13 Thread Peter Eisentraut
Package: kontact
Version: 4:3.2.2-2
Severity: minor

On the front page, I have in the left column News (i.e., email),
Birthdays, Notes, Appointments, in the right column RSS news feeds. If
I add a bunch of RSS sources, the Birthdays and all following items
move down below the end of the RSS sources even though News does not
occupy that much space. The layout cells in the left and right columns
should be independent.

Bug#248870: kontact: RSS news source failure

The following RSS news source

http://www.postgresql.org/news.rss

does not display correctly on the front page. Only the title shows,
but no news items. It works correctly under evolution, so I assume
the file is formatted correctly (but indications to the opposite
would be welcome).

Bug#248868: kde: new user default config is extraordinarily ugly

2004-05-13 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kde
Version: 3.2.2-1
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We installed two new KDE systems yesterday with
`apt-get install x-window-system kde`. This worked like a charm, but
when we logged in for the first time, the desktop was
extraordinarily ugly, for the following reasons:

  - the background looks like downtown houston[0], except more boring
  - thee desktop icon filenames have a shadow that makes them
basically unreadable
  - font anti-aliasing is turned off, catapulting us back to the
pixelised eighties, or earlier

it would be nice to have the default configuration be a little more
friendly to the retina. i suggest using the default_blue background,
which has become a KDE standard, to choose white text on clear
background without shadows for the desktop icons, and to turn
anti-aliasing on by default. the only argument against that, which
i can see, is performance. however, if that's a concern, then KDE is
not right in the first place, especially not 3.x.

0. no offence intended

Bug#248865: kde: cdrom auto-icon forces noexec option

2004-05-13 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kde
Version: 3.2.2-1
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Tags: upstream

Sorry for filing this here, I am not acquainted with kde, so I don't
know the appropriate subpackage...

Anyhow, tagging this upstream...

Problem is when you configure automatic desktop icons for unmounted
CD-ROM etc. devices, clicking on the device mounts it automatically
with options noexec, nodev, nosuid -- this is *very* nice actually,
but at times it is a problem, when the user wants to legitimally run
an executable from a CD-ROM.

It would be nice to have a feature to allow the overriding of the
noexec option on a per-case basis.

Thanks,
