Wednesday 12 May 2004 23:15, Dominique Devriese rašė: > I've asked Madkiss this before, and even sent him the trivial patch > that changes it iirc, but he never told me the reason for keeping it > as is. Personaly, I have a guess. Rebuilding Qt also requires rebuilding every app (well, maybe not all of them, only those with own plugins) that depends on libqt (the reason is described in "Qt Plugins HOWTO" in official Qt docs). Anyway, that's only a guess. Martin, Ralf where are you? Please, give as an explanation and we'll give you a break :) > IMHO, -no-stl is wrong, and it is no longer recommended by KDE I agree. I've checked: Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE, Xandros – all have STL enabled Qt, only Slackware hasn't. -- Marius Žalinauskas

Bug#248868: kde: new user default config is extraordinarily ugly
Package: kde Version: 3.2.2-1 Severity: minor X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] We installed two new KDE systems yesterday with `apt-get install x-window-system kde`. This worked like a charm, but when we logged in for the first time, the desktop was extraordinarily ugly, for the following reasons: - the background looks like downtown houston[0], except more boring - thee desktop icon filenames have a shadow that makes them basically unreadable - font anti-aliasing is turned off, catapulting us back to the pixelised eighties, or earlier it would be nice to have the default configuration be a little more friendly to the retina. i suggest using the default_blue background, which has become a KDE standard, to choose white text on clear background without shadows for the desktop icons, and to turn anti-aliasing on by default. the only argument against that, which i can see, is performance. however, if that's a concern, then KDE is not right in the first place, especially not 3.x. 0. no offence intended -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (600, 'testing'), (98, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.3-1-k7-smp Locale: LANG=en_GB.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.ISO-8859-15 -- Please do not CC me when replying to lists; I read them! .''`. martin f. krafft <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : :' :proud Debian developer, admin, and user `. `'` `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing a system Invalid/expired PGP subkeys? Bug#248865: kde: cdrom auto-icon forces noexec option
Package: kde Version: 3.2.2-1 Severity: wishlist X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tags: upstream Sorry for filing this here, I am not acquainted with kde, so I don't know the appropriate subpackage... Anyhow, tagging this upstream... Problem is when you configure automatic desktop icons for unmounted CD-ROM etc. devices, clicking on the device mounts it automatically with options noexec, nodev, nosuid -- this is *very* nice actually, but at times it is a problem, when the user wants to legitimally run an executable from a CD-ROM. It would be nice to have a feature to allow the overriding of the noexec option on a per-case basis.
