Bug#253127: kdebase: kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory foo group bar is not valid

2004-06-07 Thread Amit Shah
Package: kdebase
Version: 4:3.2.2-1

My .xsession-errors file is filled with the messages like in the
subject. A complete log is appended later in the mail.

My KDE startup is very slow, I guess it could be because of this; though
I haven't researched this.

I use the .NET style windows with glow decorations and crystal SVG
icons.

Bug#253154: KMail crashes

2004-06-07 Thread Horst Laschinsky
Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.1.4-0woody1

I don't know if this is the same bug as mentioned in #240632.

I upgraded some machines on sunday evening (June, 6th), using
apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, with stable and testing
in my sources.list. Everything works fine except kmail, which
now crashes with a sigsegv immediately after launch.

Surprisingly, everything works fine, when I log into one of
the machines from another machine which runs unstable, and then
start kmail via x11-forwarding over ssh.

dist-upgrade to testing does not solve the problem either (using
testing no longer produces a sigsev, but kmail does not start
due to unresolved symbols in a series of libraries).

dist-upgrade to unstable solves the problem, but since the
computers belong to a production system, I do not want to run
a complete unstable distribution on them.

Here is the output from the crash manager:

Any workaround for 246350 -- tons of icon warnings -- anybody not getting it?

2004-06-07 Thread William Ballard
Is anybody *not* getting tons of icon warnings every time a KDE app is
launched? As reported in 246350? With sid's kdelibs?

Is there a way workaround? Or it just a sid's broke, what do you want,
it's sid thing?

- start work on rather experimental konsole embedding
- reimplement DPkgPM in libcapture to allow fork/execvp override
  (mostly cut paste from libapt-pkg)
- create a very preliminary kapture::DPkgPM; it takes TerminalInterface
and tries to churn out dpkg process running in the terminal; fails
  miserably
- reduce chattiness on cerr a bit

Bug#253235: kcontrol: kcmlocale should take LC_MEASUREMENT and LC_PAPER values from system default

2004-06-07 Thread Matt Swift
Package: kcontrol
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: normal

My default system locale is en_US. In the kcmlocale module of
kcontrol, when I press the defaults button, most of the settings
take on the values that are defined in /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_US,
but the paper size and measurement system remain at a4 and metric,
despite the fact that /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_US defines LC_PAPER
and LC_MEASUREMENT to letter and imperial (actually I only assume
the value of LC_MEASUREMENT set there means imperial -- I cannot
locate any documentation for what the value really means).

Also (and this may be a documentation problem with a wider scope) I
could not find any documentation on what is the significance of
setting a value in kcmlocale -- does it override system locale
definitions for all programs, or just KDE-aware programs, or what?
E.g., with default KDE settings where my paper size is reported to be
a4, but system locale has US letter, which applications are going to
use the one value and which the other?
