Bug#268107: kdvi: Overly verbose KAction warning
Package: kdvi Version: 4:3.2.2-1 Severity: minor kdvi outputs the following warning to the shell on execution: kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KAction::insertKAccel( kaccel = 0x80671f0 ): KAccel object already contains an action name "help_whats_this" This warning does not impede basic functionality. My guess is that the code performs some small violation with respect to KAction, and the community has come to expect this warning on execution. If this is the case, then I believe the code really should be patched to remove "expected/false" errors. If not, then perhaps there's geniunely a conflict worth noting. However, it seems to involve the "Help: What's This" function, which has never worked for kdvi (for me, at least). Basically, it's just an annoying systemic warning message. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.6 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages kdvi depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.2.3-2 KDE core libraries ii kviewshell 4:3.2.2-1 KDE generic framework for viewer a ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.16-6Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc62.3.2.ds1-13GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-5 client library to control the FAM ii libfreetype6 2.1.7-2.2 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:3.4.1-4sarge1 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libpng12-0 1.2.5.0-7 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt3:3.2.3-4 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.4-6sarge1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii xlibs4.3.0.dfsg.1-4 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1.1-5 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information

Policy section 2.3.3 states: The description should be written so that it gives the system administrator enough information to decide whether to install the package. Take in account that package descriptions are very important to administrators to determine wether a package is (or isn't) useful for them and are used by package frontends in order to implement keyword-based searchs (samples include command line tools such as 'apt-cache search X' or 'grep-dctrl -F Description X' or even fancier interfaces such as 'dpkg-iasearch'). If you need help to provide a proper description for your package you are advised to digest the README/manpages/HTML files provided by the package or, as a last resort, request help at the debian-devel mailing list. If this package is being generated from a single source package and you already provide a full description in your control file for the main package, you might want to use it automatically in sub-packages. If this is the case consider using ${description}, and debian/substvars. This report has been automatically generated and the main reason is that the package has an extended description which is only one line long. Bug#268036: kdm doesn't work with libpam-ldap
Package: kdm Version: 4:3.3.0-1 kdm does not allow login for ldap users. I tried using the stock /etc/pam.d/kdm configuration without modification, and that has not worked. I've got the appropriate pam_ldap.so entries in my /etc/pam.d/common-* files to allow ldap authentication, and ldap authentication appears to work with everything (ssh, login, xdm) but kdm. I noticed the /etc/pam.d/kdm file was slightly different from the /etc/pam.d/xdm file, so I changed the kdm file to be identical, to no avail. Kdm appears to succesfully authenticate, but the ldap users window manager never starts. After you input username/password, the login screen disappears, and it looks like the X server restarts, and a second or two later I'm back at the kdm login. Local users from /etc/passwd have no problems logging in under kdm. If I have xdm running as the graphical login manager, it has no problem logging in ldap users. I get no logging as to what might be the problem in /var/log/auth.log, /var/log/kdm.log, /var/log/XFree86.log, and nothings in the users ~/.xsession-errors file. Thanks. -Don
Bug#268016: [CAN-2004-0746] Konqueror Cross-Domain Cookie Injection
Hi. > Tags: security upstream sarge Since tiff4 has (just) now moved into sarge, either calc or I will be uploading fixes for this (and the other recently announced KDE security issues) to testing-proposed-updates, hopefully tomorrow. Ben.
Bug#268016: [CAN-2004-0746] Konqueror Cross-Domain Cookie Injection
Package: konqueror Version: 3.2.3-1 Severity: grave Tags: security upstream sarge Web sites operating under the affected domains can set HTTP cookies in such a way that the Konqueror web browser will send them to all other web sites operating under the same domain. A malicious website can use this as part of a session fixation attack. See e.g. http://www.acros.si/papers/session_fixation.pdf Affected are all country specific secondary top level domains that use more than 2 characters in the secondary part of the domain name and that use a secondary part other than com, net, mil, org, gov, edu or int. Examples of affected domains are .ltd.uk, .plc.uk and .firm.in KDE versions up to KDE 3.2.3 inclusive. KDE 3.3 is not affected. There is 3.2.3-1 in sid for some architectures, but they will probably replaced soon by 3.3.0-1 which is said to be not vulnerable. Regards, Joey -- There are lies, statistics and benchmarks. Bug#265473: KDE 3.3
I don't have the probleme anymore with 3.3 now. IMO, the bug should be closed. Regards, Gonéri
Bug#267970: dependcy problem: kdelibs4 depends on libopenexr0
Package: kdelibs4 Version: 4:3.3.0 Hi all, When updating my unstable system I get the following message: "kdelibs4: Hängt ab: libopenexr0 (>= 1.1.1), welches ein virtuelles Paket ist." Trying to install libopenexr0 gives the following message: Kein Kandidat für »libopenexr0« gefunden. Because this is my first bugreport, please give me a feedback if anything is wrong. Thanks, Arno
Bug#266760: Two "me too"s, and some supplementary information
Hello, I have observed this bug on two different i386 Debian "unstable" systems, one a new HP system where Xfree86 uses the Intel "i810" driver, the other one a rather old Dell system using the "ati" driver. The systems are quite dead in both cases; they respond to "ping", but neither "ssh" nor "telnet" access is possible. The bug behaves exactly as the submitter (Anthony Labarre <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>) describes, except that I haven't had the bug for a very long time - I never observed it until the upload of KDE 3.3 to "unstable". Furthermore - and this may be very important - I never observed the bug on an unmodified "unstable" system. Only after the "Xsession" hack to the problems with KDE 3.3 and "tcsh" - as described in bug 265895 - got installed did I see the bug. Then it was completely reproducible - happens every time I log out. To get a stable (!) "unstable" system with KDE 3.3, no freezing problem at logout and no problems with "tcsh" I instead implement the solution to the "tcsh" problem described in bug 266814. Hope this all helps - KDE 3.3 is a great system. -- Peder Chr. Nørgaard Senior System Developer, M. Sc. Just create a '.xprofile' file in your homedir which source XFree86's Xsession file. - - ~/.xprofile --- source /etc/X11/Xsession - - AFAIK, this bug is in the todo list for next upload of KDE 3.3.0. But, IMO, maintainers try to get a last KDE 3.2.3 upload (with security fix) before a new upload of KDE 3.3.0. Bug#265865: kdm: News about this bug (ssh-agent not launched anymore)?
Any news about this bug? Plans for fixing, recommendations for workaround (mine was picking the file from the 3.2.2 release of kdm and replacing Xsession with it) I had hard times trying to figure out why the hell my ssh-agent did not start anymore : I'm not a Xsession thing guru and the change was pretty hard to find This change, with /etc/kde3/kdm/Xsession doing things on its own is not only likely to break the use of ssh-agent, but also breaks the use of all scripts in /etc/X11/Xsession.d which is, as far as I can figure out, a kind of common place for Debian packages to put their own Xsession things --
