Bug#270389: kdelibs: t-p-u upload FTBFS on m68k

This is a serious bug, as it prevents a fixed kdelibs package from being
included in sarge.

arts 1.3 + kde 3.2?

2004-09-07 Thread Steve Langasek
Bug #269132 was opened to hold arts 1.3 out of testing, on the grounds
that it has not been tested with kde 3.2. Has anyone had time to do
such a test? It would be good to know if the 50-some packages blocked
by arts currently will need to make other arrangements for sarge.

Please cc: debian-release on replies.

Thanks,

Usually meinproc errors we have seen so far have been building machine
running out of ram/disk space. Since all the other builds came out fine,
this seems probable this time too.

Just installed arts and its libs, as well as the newer QT it depends
on, and after logout && login music is still playing fine in kaffeine.
Also tried kaboodle and arts control panel, and everything works so far.
I have the arts plugins from kdemultimedia installed, but I have no
idea if they are being used (AFAIK kaboodle should).

Hi,

uh? kdm in unstable is 4:3.3.0-1. kdm 2.2.2 sounds like your using woody.
Assuming your using unstable:
Please make sure that you're pkgs are up to date 'apt-get -u dist-upgrade'
then send us the output of 'reportbug --template kdm'.

Bug#270488: libkscan1: libtool fails to link libkscan due to incorrect path in libkscan.la

2004-09-07 Thread Patrick Dreker
Package: libkscan1
Version: 4:3.3.0-1.1
Severity: normal

When trying to compile (and subsequently link) an application using
libkscan with libtool I receive the following error:

/bin/sh ../libtool --silent --mode=link --tag=CXX g++ -Wnon-virtual-dtor
-Wno-long-long -Wundef -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -Wwrite-strings -ansi

libtool: link: warning: library `/usr/lib/libsane.la' was moved.
libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/lib/sane/libsane.la'
make[2]: *** [skan] Fehler 1

The cause seems to be an erroneous entry in /usr/lib/libkscan.la, which
references /usr/lib/sane/libsane.la in the dependency_libs line, but the file
does not exist. The package libsane places the file libsane.la under
/usr/lib/libsane.la.

Changing the path in /usr/lib/libkscan.la from /usr/lib/sane/libsane.la
to /usr/lib/libsane.la enables me to compile and link the application
without problems, but the two warning messages from the libtool output
remain ("warning: library `/usr/lib/libsane.la' was moved.").

I have no idea, how the libkscan.la file comes into existence (is it
generated?), so I can't even guess, how this problem comes up in the
first place, so please reassign if this is the wrong package to report
this.

The application in question is a minimal KDE app framework generated by
kdevelop3 with an absolutely minimalistic libkscan integration (only
queries KScanDevice for available devices so far).

Hmmm. 2.2.2-14.7 was the contents of the Version line from "apt-cache

I'd like to, but reportbug --template kdm outputs nothing ... :-/

Well, if you insist in using apt-cache then better use apt-cache policy kdm ;)

Eh? I'm using sarge

$ reportbug --template kdm | wc -l
52
$ reportbug --version
reportbug 2.63

Okay, back to topic ;) Did you try

/etc/init.d/kdm restart

maybe some share libs stuff broke kdm. Does

grep kdm /var/log/daemon.log

show any strange messages?

Did you try to search if others had already the problem?
I know there were several problems related to kdm 3.3 but
because I'm using sarge I did not follow closely. Try

o reportbug kdm# and check the contents of related bug
o search kde-debian mailing list archive

I had no configuration for reportbug (1st time use). And it showed
nothing until I ran it alone, and answered the question. 'guess I should
report a bug about reportbug ;-)

> Okay, back to topic ;)

Right.

I had tried everything you said, and ended up reinstalling completely
kdm, and then it worked again. Now, I've understood that if I ever configure
anything from the control center, next kdm run will fail as I described. My
understanding is that kdm_config or whatever outputs wrong configuration files
(should be 2.2) that a next kdm instance is unable to parse.

I could do this again and send you diff of the files if you whish, but I'm in
a hurry right now so I gotta go (I wanted to let you know before leaving my
office).

Here's the kdm output in daemon.log anyway:

Bug#266760: kde: kde crashes X when quitting

2004-09-07 Thread Tony Smith
I'm experiencing this problem nearly (but not quite) 100% of the time on an
up-to-date (as of two-days ago) debian "unstable" system. This is with KDE
3.3 and in fact I didn't have the problem at all until the KDE 3.3 update.

Video driver is tdfx under xfree86-4.3

If you need more info, let me know.

Thanks,

Tony
