Hi, on some SVG images (e. G. the attached one or the SVGAbout.svg that
comes with Adobe SVG Plugin) svgdisplay gets killed with signal 11.

The DrKonqi backtrace that shows up after the crash seems to be rather
useless because of a lack of symbols.

I run it under gnome, in a mixed testing/unstable environment.

Some of the examples that come with batik squiggle work fine while
others display distorted images, but I could not provoke a crash with
those of the squggle examples I tried.

Can you reproduce the problem?

Bug#271256: kdegraphics: collection package broken, because components are not available

> for the other architectures?

  this was the process:

1. kdegraphics was removed from testing to ease the migration of
   other packages.

2. a new kdegraphics package for testing was prepared.

3. autobuilders then take the source package and compile it, and the
package enters testing once all architectures have compiled it.

4. a Release Manager decided to let kdegraphics enter testing with
missing builds. this is normally not done to avoid breakages like
the one you're watching, but it was thought that it was better to
have at least working packages for i386 and powerpc that no
   packages at all.

5. now kdegraphics has a little trouble about getting compiled by
other autobuilders, trouble of which the Release Team is
   perfectly aware of.

so the only thing to say is: patience. and: the current brokeness
state is just in benefit of sarge being released earlier.

  thanks for your understanding,

Bug#261308: totem-xine: totem crashes upon startup

2004-09-12 Thread Pedro Caleiro
Hi,
I have the same problem here, with package totem-xine version
0.99.15.1-2, but if no other program is using audio output, totem won't
crash. The ALSA driver I'm using only allows one program to output sound
at one time.

Here is the backtrace from gdb:

Bug#271256: kdegraphics: collection package broken, because components are not available

2004-09-12 Thread Andreas Feldner
Hi Adeodato,

in "Testing" there's a KDE Graphics metapackage (kdegraphics) 4:3.2.3-1.1
("all" architectures). However, the actual packages (e.g. kpaint) for which
kdegraphics generates dependencies only, are available only for i386 and
powerpc. Therefore, "kdegraphics" really is only available for i386 and
powerpc and shouldn't be marked available for "all" platforms. On alpha
platform, the current situation is that apt-get update marks kdegraphics as
updatable (from 3.2.2-1 to 3.2.3-1.1) - but broken, because the packages it
depends on are not available. Apart from the obvious problem, that
kdegraphics is not really currently availabe on "all" platforms (but only
i386 and powerpc), I wonder why the kdegraphics packages haven't been built
for the other architectures?

Hope that this makes things clearer?

Andreas.

Bug#271392: kmail: POP3 message retrieval stops working after 1-2 days

2004-09-12 Thread Shai Berger

Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.3.0-2
Severity: normal

I have the bad habit of leaving my KDE session open, at times for days. Since
KDE 3.3 was introduced, I've noticed twice that KMail stopped retrieving my
messages after being open for a day or two -- both automatically, and
manually (i.e. pressing the "check mail" button does nothing).

I found that quitting (both the application and the mail-notification applet)
and restarting KMail does not help. Shutting down and restarting the KDE
session did help. When I checked deeper, I found that some kmail process
stayed alive after I quit KMail; killing it and restarting kmail also fixed
the problem. So I have an easy, expensive workaround which makes me feel like
I'm in Windows (log out and log back in), and a cheap workaround which
requires killing processes manually.

Bug#271028: Please close the bug, it was my wrong system setup

2004-09-12 Thread Johannes Ranke
Sorry for this - I was running a KDE version compiled with konstruct,
wondering why kde packages installed by apt-get didn't work. Everything
is fine now, since I am using pure KDE debian packages.

Bug#271363: kdm frozen at first boot

2004-09-12 Thread Juan B. Baixauli Martinez
Package: kdm
Version: 3.3.0-1

When the system boot's up and start kdm, the XFree86 server doesn't enter in
graphical mode, it become frozen. If during kdm boot up, we can restart
XFree86 server (ctrl+shift+backspace) or we can change to a console and then
restart kdm, then the XFree86 server could change correctly to a graphical
mode and the kdm could be started without problems. I attach to this message
the logs of kdm and XFree86 when everything it's ok (XFree86-ok.log and
kdm-ok.log) and when the system becomes frozen (XFree86-error.log and
kdm-error.log)

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 SID, kernel 2.6.8-smp, XFree86 4.3.0

My graphics card is a NVidia GeForce MMX4 con el driver nv

PD: My english is so bad, then I've included an spanish translation of the
bug.

congelado (XFree86-error.log y kdm-error.log)

Estoy usando Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 SID con el kernel 2.6.8-smp y XFree86 4.3.0

La tarjeta gráfica es una NVidia GeForce MMX4 con el driver nv

Muchas gracias / Lot of thanks.

daemon.* syslog facility; check your syslog configuration to find out to which

And in fact, IIRC kdm doesn't include /usr/games in the user's PATH.

2004-09-12 Thread Koos Vriezen
CVS commit by vriezen:

Ripped out arts volume and use kmix DCOP instead. TODO, choose mixer.

Linking against arts was huge overkill, made startup twice as slow.

However, kmix w/ DCOP has its own worries. Eg. the mixer is kicker/MixerX or
kmix/MixerX or unfindable (if kicker mixer applet still in proxy mode).
Also, kmix doesn't update another instance of kmix.

Would be cool to put just soundcard0/setvolume/80 on a bus (hoping some mixer
will pick it up), and receive soundcard0/volume/80 if some other application
changed it.

So, I found this:

When people contact me via AIM for the first time, I do see their
messages, but I cannot answer to them. That is becuase the users are
shown as "offline" ALTHOUGH(!) they just sent me a message.

If I add them to my contacts, disconnect, connect again, THEN I can chat
with them.
