Bug#285882: nit: build-deps

2004-12-16 Thread Adrian 'Dagurashibanipal' von Bidder
Package: kdepim
Version: 4:3.3.1-3
Severity: minor

While trying to build kdepim on a machine which had, for some reason,
libtool from stable, I hit
===
cp -f /usr/share/libtool/libtool.m4 admin/libtool.m4.in
cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/libtool/libtool.m4': No such file or directory
make: *** [debian/stamp-libtool-update] Error 1
debuild: fatal error at line 764:
dpkg-buildpackage failed!
===

I guess that means a Build dependency on libtool = 1.5 (but I didn't
try to find the required minimum version.)

Likewise, it should probably build-depend on more KDE development libraries:
===
g++: /usr/lib/libart_lgpl_2.so: No such file or directory
make[4]: *** [libksieve.la] Error 1
===

which means libart-2.0-dev. Hmm. This one was installed - but from
testing (2.3.8-1) - with the one from unstable (2.3.16-6), the build
succeeds.

Bug#285883: kpf: KPF can't serve files with national characters?

2004-12-16 Thread Sebastian Andersson
Package: kpf
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: normal

I've got a filename containing a 0xe5 character that I try to serve with
KPF. When viewing its directory in the webbrowser (firefox) its name
looks correct, but the URL to the file is like this:
http://localhost:8001/Demol%ffe5tar

and KPF complains about the file if one tries to follow the link.

Using the URL:
http://localhost:8001/Demol%e5tar

makes it possible to retrieve the file.

This seems to solve the problem. Alas, after having installed it, I'm no
longer able to upgrade my system via apt-get (dist-)upgrade because of
  broken dependencies. :-(

I'm not too surprised by the dependency issues -- I built that package a
long time ago and it probably needs to be rebuilt against current sarge
libs. Can you send me the errors from apt-get? If it looks like
something that would be fixed by a rebuild, and I have time, I'll make a
 fresh package.

Hallo Nate,

apt-get dist-upgrade outputs the following error message:

Bug#285906: kopete: Kopete crashes when ignoring IRC 'query'

When an IRC user initiates a query which causes a KNotify pop-up

SIGSEGV.

I'm sorry, but I don't have debugging enabled so I can't give a useful
stacktrace, but if nobody else can reproduce this bug then I'll
endeavour to produce a stacktrace.

Bug#285994: kopete: System message boxes should not lock up UI

2004-12-16 Thread Luke Q
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.3.1-2
Severity: normal

Pop-up system messages such as you have been disconnected... should
not demand to be closed before the rest of the UI will function. For
example, I frequently come home to see message bubbles coming from the
kopete system tray icon which I can not click on because somewhere on
another desktop, bueried beneath other windows is a system message box
which I have to acknowledge first.

This is a minor irritation, but there's no reason to disable the entire
UI for such a message.

If comprehensive partial upgrade testing is doing something else,
please let us know so we can help in getting 3.3.x (I see 3.3.2 is
  out upstream) shipped with Sarge.

if you read the link above (and, perhaps, this other thread [2])
you'll see that we don't need partial upgrades testing since we
don't let mixed versions happen in sarge.

 [2] http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2004/11/msg00154.html

otoh, it would be helpful to install kdelibs 3.3 in a sarge machine
(or the full kde 3.3, even better) and test that the rest of
   non-official applications (e.g., k3b, kaffeine, digikam, showimg,
kvim, kile, gwenview, konserve and a lot more) still do work
   correctly.

that's certainly an area in which anybody interested in seeing kde
 3.3 in sarge can help.

kaffeine (which I have used a lot the last couple of days), gwenview,
showimg, kvim (all are from testing) seem to behave without problems
with KDE 3.3.1 from unstable.

I can't seem to find my darn camera -PC USB cable so I cannot test
digikam extensively, but at least it doesn't seem to misbehave in any
way when merely starting the application and poking around with its
settings.

I'll get to test k3b very soon. That is, as soon as I reboot - my cdr
device has had serious problems with kernels from since 2.6.7. Even the
very latest 2.6.8-10 cannot cope with DMA being enabled on my cdr
device and ide1 gets defunct. Thus, no way to acces hdc/hdd, until I
reboot and disable DMA on the cdr device.

k3b from testing is certainly highly unstable when used with KDE from
unstable, Has crashed on me 3 times in no time. I haven't even gotten
around to burning yet. Just poking around in the various settings makes
it crash. Output in term is similar every time:

When you create a new cddb entry for a cd which isn't in the freedb database
the program will display an error dialog telling you that it does not have
access to the directory it needs and will then forget all the values you
have entered. You will therefore have to manually create all the subdirs
for which to store your information. So until you have created the dirs to
hold rock, folk, classical and etc your efforts to enter a new record
is futile.

2004-12-16 Thread Adeodato Simó
* Andreas Mainik [Wed, 18 Aug 2004 00:27:42 +0200]:
 Package: juk
 Version: 3.3.0-1

JuK does not play flac files.
All tag infos (Artist, Album, bitrate, etc)
are show correctly. No problems with Oggs, MP3s.

 I have this problem
 with two libflac4 versions.
 Non-standart libflac4 Version: 1.1.0+cvs20040722.05-1
 Standart(sid) libflac4 Version: 1.1.0-11

hi Andreas, I can't reproduce this bug report with juk 3.3.1. it plays
.flac files fine both with akode installed and not installed.

does is still happen for you?

  thanks,

Package: juk
Version: 1.95-3
Severity: important

I recently compiled the kernel 2.6.2 with the preemptive support, and since
them I saw some major utilisability problems with Juk. Every 4 or 5 songs,
the Juk's interface freeze after a song change, prohibiting me to do anything
with the software for a good 10 seconds.

Curiously, the songs plays without any skips during this time. Even more
curious, the CPU usage is not 100% neither.

Before that, I had a kernel 2.4.21 with the preemptive patch applied on it,
and I did not experience such a long UI freeze when changing songs.

I am not sure if this is a simple configuration issue, a bug with Juk or
GStreamer, or a bug with the kernel scheduler...

Bug#271664: juk has problems with libFLAC4 1.1.1 (works with 1.1.0 from testing)

2004-12-16 Thread Adeodato Simó
* Jos Poortvliet [Tue, 14 Sep 2004 14:11:09 +0200]:
 Package: juk
 Version: 3.3.0-1

Starting Juk gives the following error:

juk: error while loading shared libraries: libFLAC.so.4: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

After downgrading libFLAC4 to 1.1.0 from testing, it works fine. so juk
 doesnt
seem to like libFLAC4 1.1.1. I also filed a bugreport to juk, I dunno what
the source of the problem is: juk, libFLAC4, or the package(s).

I am using Debian GNU/Linux unstable, kernel 2.6.8.1-ck7.

Hope you can fix it, or forward this to the appropriate person.

tnx for the work on packaging juk, its a great audio player!

uhm, can you confirm if this is already fixed? at least, I can't
reproduce, plus I don't know where did that libFLAC4 1.1.1 come
from... both sid an sarge have 1.1.0-11.

  thanks,

Kmix 3.1.4 and 3.1.5 show ridiculous volume levels until the volume is manually
adjusted. See KDE bug #64274. This was fixed upstream on 11/24/03 but won't
be available until KDE 3.2

It's a very simple fix, so I attached a patch. Any chance of including it
soon?

Thanks.

  hi Mikael,

I'm using ALSA sound. With alsamixer I get a lot of sliders to play
with. In kmix, some (eg AC97 Capture) are missing and the Capture slider
cannot be adjusted, but it can in alsamixer. I have a SB Live! (emu10k1
 driver).

Let me know if I can help in any way.

yes, you can let us know if this still happens with kmix 3.3.1. (I
just checkd, and I have all sliders available in alsamixer also in
  kmix).

  thanks,

Bug#273868: Can't set keyboard shortcuts for switches

2004-12-16 Thread Adeodato Simó
severity 273868 wishlist
stop here

* Steffen Hein [Tue, 28 Sep 2004 16:59:00 +0200]:
 Package: kmix
 Version: 3.3.0-1

It's not possible to associate switches with keyboard shortcuts anymore. For
example on my notebook there's a switch called external amplifier which
mutes the sound hardware and also controls a mute LED. When right-clicking on
the control, the menu only allows me to select which channels should be shown
and to disable the menu. Normal slider controls are not affected.
This bug is only existant in the 3.3.0 version of kmix, older versions (that
didn't have a seperate tab for the switches) don't have that problem.

hi, if you could submit yourself a wishlist bug in bugs.kde.org, you
have more chances of having something done about this.

we're pretty overloaded atm, so it may pass sometime before one of us
gets to forward this (wishlist, hence low-priority) bug to upstream.

  thanks for considering,

 Hello all,

  hi,

When using juk, it appears that files are drag-n-droppable between
playlists, and that sort of thing. Doing so, gets an iconic
represenatation of the action about to happen, but the juk segfaults
 before completing any action.

The last lines of output when run from the console are:
TagLib: MPEG::Header::parse() -- Invalid sample rate.
juk: ERROR: Couldn't resolve the mime type of -- this shouldn't happen.
 KCrash: Application 'juk' crashing...

Let me know if you need more information, and thanks,

I can't reproduce this with juk 3.3.1. does it still happen to you? if
so, please provide detailed instructions to reproduce. if not, please
tell us too so that we can close the bug.

  thanks,

Justification: renders package unusable

I installed ALSA 1.0.2 on the 2.6.3 kernel, as well as upgrading
KDE/aRTs to the latest in unstable. All other audio applications work
just fine except for juk. Nothing will play in juk. There is no sound
coming from juk. I tried a bunch of different files, and even made sure
that they will play from Noatun, which they all did, but there was no
sound.

Severity: important

Songs are played VERY VERY fast...
to make this objective i played XMMS and JUK using the same song
and JUK ended the song about 5-10 seconds BEFORE.
This happens with all MP3s (i made that test about 5 times in different
dates).
I even reboot the system but nothing change.

But i can't say if this is a problem of arts or juk.
