Bug#285882: nit: build-deps
Package: kdepim Version: 4:3.3.1-3 Severity: minor While trying to build kdepim on a machine which had, for some reason, libtool from stable, I hit === cp -f /usr/share/libtool/libtool.m4 admin/libtool.m4.in cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/libtool/libtool.m4': No such file or directory make: *** [debian/stamp-libtool-update] Error 1 debuild: fatal error at line 764: dpkg-buildpackage failed! === I guess that means a Build dependency on libtool = 1.5 (but I didn't try to find the required minimum version.) Likewise, it should probably build-depend on more KDE development libraries: === g++: /usr/lib/libart_lgpl_2.so: No such file or directory make[4]: *** [libksieve.la] Error 1 === which means libart-2.0-dev. Hmm. This one was installed - but from testing (2.3.8-1) - with the one from unstable (2.3.16-6), the build succeeds. cheers -- vbi

Bug#285994: kopete: System message boxes should not lock up UI
Package: kopete Version: 4:3.3.1-2 Severity: normal Pop-up system messages such as you have been disconnected... should not demand to be closed before the rest of the UI will function. For example, I frequently come home to see message bubbles coming from the kopete system tray icon which I can not click on because somewhere on another desktop, bueried beneath other windows is a system message box which I have to acknowledge first. [2] http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2004/11/msg00154.html otoh, it would be helpful to install kdelibs 3.3 in a sarge machine (or the full kde 3.3, even better) and test that the rest of non-official applications (e.g., k3b, kaffeine, digikam, showimg, kvim, kile, gwenview, konserve and a lot more) still do work correctly. that's certainly an area in which anybody interested in seeing kde 3.3 in sarge can help. kaffeine (which I have used a lot the last couple of days), gwenview, showimg, kvim (all are from testing) seem to behave without problems with KDE 3.3.1 from unstable. I can't seem to find my darn camera -PC USB cable so I cannot test digikam extensively, but at least it doesn't seem to misbehave in any way when merely starting the application and poking around with its settings. I'll get to test k3b very soon. That is, as soon as I reboot - my cdr device has had serious problems with kernels from since 2.6.7. Even the very latest 2.6.8-10 cannot cope with DMA being enabled on my cdr device and ide1 gets defunct. Every 4 or 5 songs, the Juk's interface freeze after a song change, prohibiting me to do anything with the software for a good 10 seconds. Curiously, the songs plays without any skips during this time. Even more curious, the CPU usage is not 100% neither. Before that, I had a kernel 2.4.21 with the preemptive patch applied on it, and I did not experience such a long UI freeze when changing songs. Bug#271664: juk has problems with libFLAC4 1.1.1 (works with 1.1.0 from testing)
* Jos Poortvliet [Tue, 14 Sep 2004 14:11:09 +0200]: Package: juk Version: 3.3.0-1 Starting Juk gives the following error: juk: error while loading shared libraries: libFLAC.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory After downgrading libFLAC4 to 1.1.0 from testing, it works fine. so juk doesnt seem to like libFLAC4 1.1.1. I also filed a bugreport to juk, I dunno what the source of the problem is: juk, libFLAC4, or the package(s). I am using Debian GNU/Linux unstable, kernel 2.6.8.1-ck7. Hope you can fix it, or forward this to the appropriate person. tnx for the work on packaging juk, its a great audio player! uhm, can you confirm if this is already fixed? at least, I can't reproduce, plus I don't know where did that libFLAC4 1.1.1 come from... both sid an sarge have 1.1.0-11. thanks, -- Adeodato Simó EM: asp16 [ykwim] alu.ua.es | PK: DA6AE621 The easy way is the wrong way, and the hard way is the stupid way. This bug is only existant in the 3.3.0 version of kmix, older versions (that didn't have a seperate tab for the switches) don't have that problem. hi, if you could submit yourself a wishlist bug in bugs.kde.org, you have more chances of having something done about this. we're pretty overloaded atm, so it may pass sometime before one of us gets to forward this (wishlist, hence low-priority) bug to upstream. thanks for considering, -- Adeodato Simó EM: asp16 [ykwim] alu.ua.es | PK: DA6AE621 Listening to: María del Monte - Rosita Sotomayor Don't worry about what anybody else is going to do. All other audio applications work just fine except for juk. Nothing will play in juk. There is no sound coming from juk. I tried a bunch of different files, and even made sure that they will play from Noatun, which they all did, but there was no sound.
