Kate, Kile, Quanta, etc. are now no longer able to find the extra dictionaries from packages such as aspell-en, aspell-de, etc. The cause of this problem is a name change of the dictionary directory in the current version of aspell, from /usr/lib/aspell to /usr/lib/aspell-0.60. (This was probably necessary since the new format of the dictionaries is incompatible with the old one.) ln -s /usr/lib/aspell-0.60 /usr/lib/aspell is OK as a temporary workaround, but as a permanent solution the spellchecker plugin should be changed so that it uses `aspell config dict-dir` to find the location of the dictionary directory. I think the attached patch is a better fix for this issue than the one=20 provided by Gentoo [1]. There are several bugs in Gentoo's fix: 1- The file is removed twice (once in the trap and once at the end of the= =20 fix) 2- Leaving temporary files in the home directory might not be good. Mktemp= =20 -t is better since users can set their TMPDIR environment variable to point= =20 to "/home/user/tmp" if they want to, but users without a home directory=20 (think chroot) will work in any case (failsback to /tmp) 3- The temporafy file is still being create in an unsafe way (but in a safe= =20 directory), mktemp does this better So, please use the attached patch (and maybe forward it upstream) for a=20 next release. Bug#291054: kdelibs4-doc: KWallet class description vanished
Not sure, sorry. I guess you could file a bug against kdelibs documentation or something like that... Bug#289646: On-the-Fly spell checking causing kbabel to crash
Hello Stanislav, we received in Debian a bug report claiming that KBabel crashed with a certain .po file, and that it seemed to be related to on-the-fly spell checking. You can read the full discussion at [1]. [1] http://bugs.debian.org/289646 The crash is reproducible for me when going to the entry #98 in the file mentioned in the report, being the spell checker language English. I suspect the crash is triggered because that entry is a little long, and as the checker language doesn't match the entry language (English vs. Spanish), a lot of misspelling signals are emitted. I've been having a look this afternoon, and after a lot of struggling I came to realice that using checkWord() instead of check() seems to improve things. There is this comment in kbabel/kbhighlighting.cpp: // yes I tried checkWord, the docs lie and it didn't give useful signals :-( However, is more than 2 years old, and checkWord() seems to do fine here. Perhaps you could considering making the change? Also, it may be that kdelibs is at fault, too (as per the backtrace). Sadly, I lack the knowledge to determine that, and anyway it seems that applications should really use the proper function that the API provides (checkWord, in this case). KDM ver 4:3.3.2-1 does NOT run
Hi, I'm not a member of this list, so if you want to reply me (i'd thank you) please do that at this email address. Now, I've successfully installed KDE 3.4rc1 and KDM does not load. It throws an error. I've done a "dpkg-reconfigure kdm" and set up as default gdm, but I want kdm to run, and this problem came up when I installed KDE 3.4rc1. Another thing... KDE 3.4rc1 does not support devices:/, does it? I can't mount automatically (only with one click) my usb pen... I don't like that neither. Sorry for my english, I'm from spain.
