Uhm, we'd need the ~/.xsession-errors, but right after a failed login
with KDM. The one you send seems to correspond to a sucessfull login
  with GDM...

Kontact in kde 3.4 segfaults

2005-05-03 Thread Sune Vuorela
I have a kde 3.4 installed from the alioth-place. My system is mostly
sarge, but with some sid-packages.

What I do:

Settings > configure Kontact > click on Appearence (or anything else) under
'Mail'
Now I get segmentation fault.

It is quite reproducable on my system. (Every time)

Hope someone can fix something, but I know that I use kind of
experimental software ;)

Bug#307532: low notebook battery kills X server

2005-05-03 Thread Stefan Strasser
Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.3.2-1
Severity: normal

I'm not sure if this is kdm related, please forward this if it's not:
I have two X servers running. whenever KLaptop reports 5 or less minutes of
battery left, KDE on the second X server is shutdown and kdm login screen
appears.
This is reproducible. I don't see a reason why this could be desired
behaviour.
It happens again if you login again when the next message(e.g. 2 minutes
left) appears.

(This is probably not very important, but you shouldn't have

Yes, the ~/.xsession-errors file for the users that fails to log in.

  Thanks.

hi there. thanks for the quick reply. in answer to your upgrade
question, these are the old and new versions of kdm that were running on
a particular kdm 'bug' machine:

/var/cache/apt/archives/kdm_4%3a3.3.1-3_i386.deb
/var/cache/apt/archives/kdm_4%3a3.3.2-1_i386.deb

this particular user selects kde, as do most of the users on the problem
machines. you can select kde, but it won't let you in. i use fluxbox as
my desktop, and when i select fluxbox from the kdm session, i can get
into fluxbox fine.

here is the latest /var/log/kdm.log from our current problem machine:

Note that your system uses syslog. All of kdm's internally generated
messages
(i.e., not from libraries and external programs/scripts it uses) go to the
daemon.* syslog facility; check your syslog configuration to find out to
which
file(s) it is logged. PAM logs messages related to authentication to
authpriv.*.
