Ah - I just found the account type when you create a NEW account. I'd been
searching around in the existing account options...

1. Delete old accounts, save settings and exit KMail.
2. Wait a bit for all the kio_ programs to stop.
3. Go in and delete all the temp files and anything related to the old IMAP
accounts.
4. Restart KMail and create new "Disconnected IMAP" account type
5. Witness it not work AT ALL.

6. Delete new "Disconnected IMAP" account, save settings and exit KMail
7. Wait for the kio_ programs to stop.
8. Restart KMail and create new "IMAP" account type
9. Witness it work exactly like it used to.

So, in sum, the "Disconnected IMAP" account type does not work AT ALL for me.
Am I doing something wrong? I actually tried many more ways than this, but
this seemed the most thorough (and it still doesn't work for beans).

Cheers.
Chris.

Bug#314170: kmix: Volume slider covers system tray icon persistently

2005-06-14 Thread Nieko Woets
Package: kmix
Version: 4:3.3.2-1
Severity: normal

I'm still unsure where the problem lies, but it happened before and it
happened again.

The volume slider covers the system tray icon from Kmix. This makes it
impossible to click on the system tray icon a second time to let the
volume slider disappear.

It depends on the setting in 'Configure>Panel>Hiding>Allow other windows
to cover the panel'. If this option is not enabled the volume slider
will hover above the system tray and the main panel.

To illustrate the problem I have a screenshot at
http://www.linbyte.com/debian/img/kmix1.png

It doesn't happen with the newer KDE 3.4.0/3.4.1 nor with the older KDE
3.2 series.

Darn, that should have been #313608. I reopen this bug now. Severity

A mistake in the use of include means that Qt methods were being added
to "Module" badly poluting its namespace. This bug also breaks the
rubyscript2exe program.

The good news is that this problem has been fixed upstream but since
it is a pretty serious problem I am hoping that the fix gets into
sarge.

Here is a discussion regarding the bug from:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/comp.lang.ruby/msg/7e8234d288fde7d2

Erik Veenstra wrote:

Richard Dale replied:

Yes, my mistake was to think of 'include Qt' being just like a 'using
namespace' statement in a static language like C++. But it isn't like
that at all, and in this case was having quite major unexpected
effects.

I'd known there was something 'not quite right' in the namespace
handling of QtRuby for a while, but couldn't work out what it was. That
was I was so pleased when you found the problem.

Are you sure you are using "Disconnected IMAP" as the account type?
It sounds like you have a standard online IMAP setup configured.

Same for 3.4.1. In the manpage one '-' in '--option' is lost.
Manpage looks like it was once created with kdemangan without
further additions.

Therefore I suggest to remove this manpage as was done
with several others before until something better is available.

Bug#221442: kmail: Message List Blanks with IMAP & IMAPS

2005-06-14 Thread Chris Horn
Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.4.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #221442

Hello, I'm back. On Mon Mar 21 00:25:23 2005, [EMAIL PROTECTED] told me
that the message list blanking problem was fixed "from 3.3.2 (-2 i think)."
I still had the problem, so I decided to upgrade to the latest KDE stable
version of KMail: 1.8.1.

I'm still having very frequent blanking of the message pane. I'm not
seeing very much crashing (thankfully), but the lackluster IMAP support
definitely hurts.

Also, I think it's on the wishlist, but is KMail going to soon be able
to display IMAP messages when it's offline? I waste a lot of time
watching KMail download and cache messages - that are then not viewable
when I go offline. Worse, if you view a message, view a second message,
and then return to the first message - KMail seems to re-download the
entire first message! This is very tedious!

Thanks.
Chris.

Since this is really much more of an upstream bug than a missing depend, I'm
lowering the severity to important, since the bug itself is not RC. When
upstream gets its act together, then we'll add the necessary depend(s).
Until then, it/they would be superfluous.

xauthority

I noticed, for some time now, that every time
I turn my machine on, my .Xauthority gets overwritten giving me
the following message when I ssh to another machine:
Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11

I have to copy back my backed up .Xauthority in order for ssh to work
correctly.

I use Sid, and root .Xauthority is linked to mine.

Is there a way to prevent the overwrites?
