Bug#323976: Re: Bug#323976: kate shows a string which contains the homepath of the ?maintainer? in the konsole

2005-08-21 Thread Per Hansen
I think more information is not needed :)

Yes it is :) please try to reduce savirc.tcl to the shortest possible
case where it crashes kate, and send it to this bugreport as an
 attachment.

It does not crash!
The message comes every time I start kate, not only on this sourcefile
of savIRC.

You are using Kanotix, but reporting bugs to debian. In this case it
doesn't matter, as it is probably an upstream bug.

Kanotix is debian/sid with some extra packets and scripts.
kde and kate are completely sid!

2005-08-21 Thread jeff
Package: kdelibs-data
Version: 4:3.3.2-6.1
Followup-For: Bug #323747

Since I upgraded kdelibs-data from 4:3.3.2-7 to 4:3.4.2-1 I have the following
problems:

- kicker does not work
- kmenu is empty
- kcontrol index is empty
- some of my look and feel preferences have changed (sounds, icons,...)
- kde applications not present in panel
- keyboard mapping was changed from azerty to qwerty

I downgraded kdelibs-data to 4:3.3.2-6 (testing version): kicker, kmenu and
kcontrol seem to work (I do not test after a reboot) but the other problems
are still there.

Bug#324337: kde: KDE and related packages extremely slow when my network is enabled

2005-08-21 Thread Fritz Grobbelaar
Package: kde
Version: 5:44
Severity: important

My KDE is extremely slow when my networking is enabled, and works (I mean 20min
just for a start-up). So I use icewm which kind off
is better. If I can remember correctly, the problem also exist when I use
Gnome as my Window manager. When I use icewm, Mozilla
for example opens quickly, but Konsole takes about 5min.

My computer is brand new and I have tried every kernel I could think of. Next
I will try to build a custom kernel, but my hope is
low. I thought the problem might be that my motherboard supports
multi-processing and I have a normal Celeron CPU, but then it
would have had different results with the different kernels.

It looks as if I kind of sorted out the problem now by moving my
/etc/network/interfaces to /etc/interfaces.back. Then rebooting.
Then moving my interfaces back and then /etc/init.d/networking restart. But
I'm sure there must be a better way.

Thanx very much for the support

Can you send us your /etc/network/interfaces file? I suspect you're
  not if'upping your loopback interface.

For things to work properly, your interface file should contain the
  following two lines:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

Other possibility is a too restrictive firewall.
