Bug#325254: kdegraphics packages broken on sarge/powerpc because of kdelibs4 dependency

2005-08-26 Thread Jochen Antesberger
Package: kdegraphics
Version: 4:3.3.2-2
Severity: important

*** Please type your report below this line *** The security updates
for the kdegraphics packages for Sarge on powerpc cannot be installed
because they depend on kdelibs4 >= 4:3.3.2-6.2 while only >=
4:3.3.2-6.1 is available.

This has been for a few days now and I cannot find any other
references about this problem on the web or news.

I suppose the correct kdelibs4 package needs to be supplied by the security
servers as well to allow the new packages to be installed and the security gap
being closed on the powerpc architecture.

Bug#315433: kdelibs-bin: laptop can't wake up when kded was running when i slept it

2005-08-26 Thread Christopher Martin
severity 315433 important
stop

Hello,

If kded can accomplish this, then it is uncovering a bug in the kernel,
which given the context of power-saving, isn't surprising.

Stull, kded probably could be better behaved in many ways, so rather
then closing or re-assigning, I'll lower this to important, since it
doesn't affect everybody.

Cheers,
Christopher Martin

Right, this is actually a bug in the kdelibs version you have. Your two
options for now are:

1) downgrade kdelibs[4, -data, -bin] to the version in testing.
2) use kontact (which embeds kmail and doesn't suffer from this bug for some
reason).

I'm surprised this works at all, as you are installing a supposedly ABI
incompatible qt that is compiled with gcc 4.0 while everything that uses it
is still compiled with gcc 3.3 (which had a different c++ ABI).
