Package: qt-x11-free
Severity: minor

With the recent upload of modular X, the library layout has been
changed. xlibs-static-dev is now only a dummy package which smooths the
upgrade to the new modular layout. Please update the build dependency of
qt-x11-free and the dependency of libqt3-mt-dev and replace
xlibs-static-dev with the actually needed dev package(s).

Cheers,
Michael

Package: qt-x11-free
Version: 3.3.6-1

Hi,

the current version of qt-x11-free has unsatisfied Build-Depends under
kfreebsd-amd64 port.

Your package belong between packages which already have specific
Build-Depends for kfreebsd-i386, the same are also needed for kfreebsd-amd64.

Please, could you support kfreebsd-amd64 similarly
as kfreebsd-i386 in Build-Depends and in debian/rules.

Usually it means excluding linux specific packages, like:
libasound2-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386]
libselinux1-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386]
libcap-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386]

Thanks for your cooperation.
 Petr

Bug#364444: Kopete does not find plugins after it is installed until the first time I restart KDE

2006-04-23 Thread Jason Spiro
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.5.1-2

When I first installed kopete, it could not find any of its plugins
(MSN, AIM, etc.), making it unusable.

Then, after I restarted KDE, the problem went away permanently.

It would be nice if this could be fixed.

If not, perhaps there should be a notification printed out by the
postinst script and a README.Debian as follows.

(The contents of this email are in the public domain.)

Thanks,
Jason

After installing Kopete, you must restart KDE before it will work
properly. If you do not, you may be unable to set up any instant
messaging or chat services.

Hi,

Locale variables have been moved by locales 2.3.6-5 into their own
file, and no more under PAM wings. The attached patch modifies PAM
settings to also read this file.

Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: normal

The configuration of the system locale has been moved from
/etc/environment to /etc/default/locale.
You should add
session required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
to /etc/pam.d/kdm. Take a look at /etc/pam.d/login for details.

Cheers,
Michael

Hello,

title says it all.

Steps to reproduce bug:
open a big po file.
seach for a common string (press ctrl+f)
search for the next occurence (press F3)
search next again (F3)
try to save by pressing ctrl+s

Now kbabel should have passed to the next occurence of the seaarched
string instead of saving.

I think you should add

 --slave /usr/share/man/man1/x-terminal-emulator.1.gz \
x-terminal-emulator.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/konsole.1.gz

to the update-alternatives command in konsole.postinst, because other
X-terminal packages do and it results in mandb reporting a dangling symlink
once a day if you choose konsole as the x-terminal-emulator alternative.

Even if this is a minor bug, since there exists a man page for konsole there
is no good enough reason not to add an alternatives link to it, IMHO.

Hello Debian KDE maintainers,

menu-xdg package version 0.2.3 include a menu-method that generate
xsessions .desktop files in /var/lib/menu-xdg/xsessions/ from the list
of window-managers using the Debian menu system.

This wishlist is to use theses files to supplement the list of available
sessions in the kdm menu. This way, if menu and menu-xdg are installed,
kdm will always display the full list of available window-managers.

Cheers,

I think you should add

 --slave /usr/share/man/man1/x-www-browser.1.gz \
x-www-browser.1.gz /usr/share/man/man1/konqueror.1.gz

to the update-alternatives command in konqueror.postinst, because other
browser packages do and it results in mandb reporting a dangling symlink once
a day if you choose konqueror as the x-www-browser alternative.

Or is this rather a bug in update-alternatives, which should perhaps remove
slave gennames for which the current alternative is empty?

In either case, the fact that there exists a man page for konqueror is a good
enough reason to add an alternatives link to it, IMHO.

Package: kdm
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: normal

The configuration of the system locale has been moved from
/etc/environment to /etc/default/locale.
You should add
session required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
to /etc/pam.d/kdm. Take a look at /etc/pam.d/login for details.

Cheers,
Michael

Hi,

Locale variables have been moved by locales 2.3.6-5 into their own
file, and no more under PAM wings. The attached patch modifies PAM
settings to also read this file.

Isn't the "ctrl+U" shortcut enough ?

Package: kdebase
Version: 4:3.5.2-1
Severity: grave

With the recent upload of modular X, xlibs-static-pic has been removed
from the Xorg 7 packages. This makes kdebase FTBFS. The fix is simple,
just remove xlibs-static-pic from the build dependencies.
I also can't see the reason why kdebase build-depends on xutils and
gsfonts-x11. The package builds fine without them in a clean pbuilder chroot.
Could you please elaborate on why xutils and gsfonts-x11 are needed for
building kdebase.

Cheers,
Michael

Package: korganizer
Version: 4:3.1.2-1

The korganizer package currently has a dependency on the kalarm package. The
korganizer application does not need to have the kalarm application
installed in order to run - it only needs the kalarmd program which is part
of the kalarm package. It would be better to split the kalarm package into
two: kalarm and kalarmd, with both kalarm and korganizer depending on
kalarmd. korganizer would then not depend on kalarm.

kalarmd is the alarm monitoring daemon which is used by both the kalarm and
korganizer applications. It is not specific to either application, despite
its name suggesting that it belongs to kalarm. Since it is a requirement for
both kalarm and korganizer but belongs to neither, it would be better if it
was put in a separate package required by both. That would remove the
requirement to install kalarm in order to run korganizer, which is totally
unnecessary.

NOTE: This bug is also submitted to bugs.kde.org
(http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82761)

Not sure if I should report it here as well as (or instead of?) KDE.
Reporting here as it has been experienced by debian users (see
http://opendoorsoftware.com/pipermail/debian-kde-cvs/2004-May/000626.html) and
there doesn't seem to be a matching bug.

Before the upgrade to kpilot 3.2.2-2 this conduit was working fine.
After the upgrade the MAL/Avantgo conduit exits immediately without
downloading any content.

This is logged:

The command line tool 'malsync' works fine on the same machine.

Kontact often seems to crash on exit when I used the address book at
some time.

I submitted a bug report including a stack backtrace to KDE
(http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105447). This report has now
been closed with the comment "that's fixed now in current version,
thanks for reporting!". I assume this means that the problem is
corrected insome later KDE version. However, it is still present in

I recently upgrade from testing to unstable on a Toshiba Tecra M1.
Since then Kalarm appears to briefly start and then crashes with SIGSEGV.

I found that removing the existing files in ~/.kde/share/apps/kalarm/
resolves the issue so it appears to something to so with support of
.ics files from a older version. Adding new alarms then works fine
unless you want to add a sound to it (see other bug report for that).

KDE crash handler gives the following in the backtrace panel:

package "kdebase" does not reference package "lsb-base"!

2006-04-23 Thread Eifer, Bernd

Dear KDE maintainers,

correct operation/initialisation of kdebase (4:3.4.3-3mea0 and earlier
ones, too) actually relies on the existence of package lsb. This seems
to be an error in the dependencies of kdebase.
