Bug#365710: Bastian's suggestion worked for me
I got caught by this not being able to log in problem as well, and Bastian's suggestion of `sudo cp /etc/X11/Xsession.xfree86 /etc/X11/Xsession` solved my problem immediately. Figured I'd chime in saying it worked for me. Thanks, --Joe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#350561: Patch
I've submitted a patch for this to kde: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126540 but no one has yet taken any notice. Perhaps if people vote for it it will be accepted, otherwise might the debian package maintainers be interested? Robert -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#365710: kdm: no login into kde possible
I have a very similar, probably related problem: When I enter my username and password into KDM, the screen flicks and KDM is presented again (looks like KDM just restarded). I cannot even login into metacity or failsave. So my system is quite useless for now. My last update was this morning, and the only error I could find was in /var/log/kdm.log: FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing. error opening security policy file /etc/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > Warning: Type "ONE_LEVEL" has 1 levels, but has 2 symbols > Ignoring extra symbols Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server Synaptics DeviceInit called SynapticsCtrl called. Bug#365710: possible solution
sudo cp /etc/X11/Xsession.xfree86 /etc/X11/Xsession fixed the problem, see #365988 (x11-common: Unable to log in from KDM) Best regards, Bastian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
