Bug#367802: if /tmp is completly empty and kde is started as user, directory rights in tmp are wrong

2006-05-17 Thread Clemens Schwaighofer
Package: kde
Version: 5:45
Severity: important

Situation: completly clean /tmp directory. Also all . directories (like
..ICE-Unix .X11... etc are removed)

if kde is started as a normal user, the .ICE-Unix directory is created
as 777 with user/group of the user who started kde, but kde crashes
during start with this error

KLibrary: /usr/kde/lib/kcm_kdnssd.so: undefined symbol: init_kdnssd

after this X quites with an error.

Now if you changed the user/group of the .ICE-Unix directory to
root/root you can start kde normal again.

even if you don't use KDE, there is a way to change that, and that is to
use kcontrol (the kde control panel). kcontrol has not more
dependencies as konqueror has, so I really consider this isn't a
problem.

Highscores often end up on the wrong difficulty level. I have had a lot of
beginners (1) highscores ending up in expert (7) or average (4) and average
highscores ending up in
average. I am quite sure it's beginners when scoring on expert since expert
takes quite some time
to calculate the next move and I have yet to master expert when I set it via
the Computer Skill setting.

Another thing is that kreversi never in any other category than 1, 4 or 7 even
if I play a game in difficulty 2,3,5 or 6.

  kmail recommends: kdepim-kio-plugins, kdebase-kio-plugins

and kdebase-kio-plugins that provide imap/imaps IIRC depends upon
libsasl2 and libsasl2-modules.

As packager we consider people either use aptitude or any other tool
that grabs recommends, or that they know what they are doing. So there
is no packaging bug here.

it works for me here ... I have:

this is not acceptable for our users. I'm in favor of disabling dimap
until that bug really disappears as well.

Package: kdelibs-data
Version: 4:3.5.2-2
Severity: normal

When you execute the command

grep -E "=\*\" `dpkg --listfiles kdelibs-data | grep mimelnk`

you'll see that some .desktop-files define file name patterns to match
both upper case and lower case extensions while others only contain a
pattern to match lower case extensions. This seems to be completely
arbitrary. E.g. the pattern in x-python.desktop is *.py while the
pattern in x-ruby.desktop is *.rb;*.RB;*.ruby;*.RUBY.

I think this should be unified so all Patterns also match the upper
case form of the listed extensions. Files created on a Windows system
often have an upper case extension. With the current situation such
files are not associated with the appropriate programs in many
cases. Furthermore I think there is no rease to consider the file
program.py to be a Phython program and program.PY not to.

Cheers, Stefan Borggraefe!

this is not true: *.C/*.H files are most often c++ files whereas *.c/*.h
are C sources. extensions *are* case sensitive.

this is intended, and not a bug. closing

well, I don't know, and I avoid to change upstream bugs myself as a
general rule.
