Bug#383570: libarts1c2a: Add some way to prevent artsd from ever being started

2006-08-17 Thread Stefan Ott
Package: libarts1c2a
Version: 1.5.3-2
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

For us non-KDE users who just happen to use the occasional KDE tool
and are thus, due to dependencies, forced to have this package
installed, it would be very convenient to be able to somehow prevent
artsd from ever being started - maybe an option in /etc/defaults or
something similar.

Regards
Stefan

Bug#383483: KDE dcop inter-process communication seem to be slow and buggy

2006-08-17 Thread Rafal Maj
Package: kdebase
Version: 3.5.3-2
Severity: normal

Multiple KDE programs take long to start up, and report various errors
when user tries to start up several instances of program at once.

Testd on two debian testing boxes.

For example krusader reports "The process for the file protocol died
unexpectedly." when starting several copies of it in same time,

Konsole reports
"There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE.
The message returned by the system was:
Colud not read network connection list.
/root/.DCOPserver_hostname__0

Please check that the dcopserver program is running!"

There where several instances of dcopserver [deinit] --nosid and all by
one had also --suicide argument.

there should be a way to remember/add an uknown type and associated
archive format instead of being prompted each time to choose one. i.e.
if I have a file of type application/lwtp I would like to define that as
a zip archive only once.

Bug#383451: kicker crashes if taskbar applet is active

2006-08-17 Thread Marc Haber
Package: kicker
Version: 4:3.5.4-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

as soon as I enable the taskbar applet in my kicker application,
kicker crashes after a few minutes. This happens when a lot of windows
open and/or close at one time. The crashes immediately stop as soon as
I remove taskbar from the panel.

A backtrace is attached.

Greetings
Marc
