Bug#393150: kpovmodeler: fails to completely display some scenes

sorry, but that works for me (screeshot attached).

 I attached a screenshot of the same scene (ants.kpm), exhibiting the

I don't know if there is a problem with povray though, it's not

  povray and not kpovmodeler.

 The preview in kpovmodeler is not rendered with povray but with Open

that looks a like a bug from your openGL driver, sorry pal, that works

 If you upgrade to the kdebase in unstable, does the problem go away? (Be

Yes, after upgrading to unstable, the problem seems to go away and kdesu

I think this bug is related to the meanwhile plugin of kopete: receiving
messages with accented characters kopete fail to display them (strange

Sending messages work fine.

Sorry, I missed that message. I'm not interested in maintaining libmal; it's
just an optional add-on to kpilot. If libmal were removed from unstable, I
would most likely just recompile kdepim with the libmal-dev build-dep cut

By the way, where did you get the idea that the submitter of #389353 and the

 It's definitely a GL-related bug, you're right. I am now able to make
 it work or not work depending on the mesa configuration. More
 precisely:

 -- DRI: ok
 (with libgl1-mesa-glx and libgl1-mesa-dri, DRI enabled in xorg.conf)

 -- GLX: *bug*
 (with libgl1-mesa-glx only; libgl1-mesa-dri uninstalled)

 -- GL software rasteriser: ok
 (with libgl1-mesa-swx11 installed; libgl1-mesa-glx and
 libgl1-mesa-dri uninstalled)

 I guess you may reproduce the bug when uninstalling libgl1-mesa-dri
 (or maybe simply disable DRI in xorg.conf). Surprisingly, the Direct
 rendering switch in kpovmodeler settings has no impact on the bug.

 The bug is most probably in libgl1-mesa-glx or in the glx module
 from xserver-xorg-core.

okay, could you please reassign the bug where appropriate ? I'm not very
used to GLX things.

Bug#393378: Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D's

2006-10-16 Thread Simon Josefsson
Package: kdelibs
Version: 4:3.5.5a-1
Severity: serious

Hi!

This bug has been filed on multiple packages, and general discussions
are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal or debian-devel in
the thread with Subject: Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in source packages.

It seems this source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc3253.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2616.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2518.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2617.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc3229.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2817.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2818.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
   license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
   the upstream archive and adding a 'dfsg' version name to it.

3. Move the package to non-free.

I went over many packages looking for names of likely non-free files,
and there may be false positives. If this is the case for your
package, I'm sorry for the noise. I'll modify the scripts to take
into account false positives when I learn of them, and publish the
list of exceptions under Known exceptions at
http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments.

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#392902: [Issue N134476] qmake no longer escapes quotes for -Dfoo=value on gcc c ommand line

2006-10-16 Thread qt-bugs
On Saturday, 14. Oct 2006 17:45 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 The following person has submitted a bug report through our online
 feedback form
 Name: Brian Nelson
 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 Product: Qt
 Function: BuildSystem
 Version: 4.2.0

 Platform: Linux
 Platform details: Debian unstable

 Compiler: GCC
 Compiler details:

 Short description:
 qmake no longer escapes quotes for -Dfoo=value on gcc command line

 What I did:
 This was filed as a bug in Debian. The full report is available at
 http://bugs.debian.org/392902.

 Ipe uses qmake to build, with a config.pri file that contains the
 following:

   IPEDOCDIR  = $${IPEPREFIX}/share/doc/ipe/doc

 Back in July, the generated Makefile resulted in

   -DIPEDOCDIR=\/usr/share/doc/ipe/doc\

 passed to the g++ command line -- see the ipe buildd logs. Now it is
 passing

   -DIPEDOCDIR=/usr/share/doc/ipe/doc

 which, not surprisingly, causes a syntax error and the build fails.

 What I expected to see:

 What I got instead:

 More info:

Yes, this is a side effect from a change that was made to qmake for
the Qt 4.2.0 release. So to escape a the \ alone will not work
anymore. Instead \\\ has to be used.

So your line would be:
DEFINES += TAGET=\\\Hello\\\

This causes an incompatibility between qmake versions.
To work around this, then append the following line:
DEFINES ~= s/\\/\/

Thus my simple .pro file looks like this:
TEMPLATE = app
TARGET =
DEPENDPATH += .
INCLUDEPATH += .
DEFINES += FOO=\\\FOO is decleared\\\
DEFINES ~= s/\\/\/
# Input
SOURCES += main.cpp

This causes all the DEFINES to be affected.

If you would prefer a capability-based checking variant, then try:

foo=bar
bar=bar
!equals(foo,$$bar):QMAKE_QUIRKS+=keep_quotes

# Deal with qmake quirks
contains(QMAKE_QUIRKS,keep_quotes) {
LITERAL_ESCAPED_QUOTE=\

} else {
LITERAL_ESCAPED_QUOTE=

}

DEFINES+=FOO=$${LITERAL_ESCAPED_QUOTE}FOO is
defined$${LITERAL_ESCAPED_QUOTE}

Hmm. Its a bit big, but works.

Hope this helps, and sorry for the inconvenience this causes you.

  It's definitely a GL-related bug, you're right. I am now able to
  make it work or not work depending on the mesa configuration. More

  I guess you may reproduce the bug when uninstalling libgl1-mesa-dri

  Direct rendering switch in kpovmodeler settings has no impact on

  The bug is most probably in libgl1-mesa-glx or in the glx module

 okay, could you please reassign the bug where appropriate ? I'm not

I'm downgrading this since a workaround has been presented, and I don't
think it's affecting the build of many packages.

Perhaps this should be closed since it sounds like a permanent change
from upstream?

Package: libqt3-mt
Version: 3:3.3.6-4
Severity: normal

Hi,

since a couple of days now I get the mentioned message

qstring_to_xtp result code -2

from any Qt/KDE app. .xsession-errors is flooded with it. It's not as
bad as filling the disc, but it's hard to get debugging output in a
shell from the apps.

I couldn't yet identify a package that could cause this and as it is
clearly related to Qt I send this report to libqt3-mt first. Please
reassign as needed - I do know that libqt3-mt wasn't upgraded for a long
time.

If it helps I can send the log from aptitude...

Andreas

Bug#392558: libqt4-dev: Missing dependency for libsqlite-dev

2006-10-16 Thread Brian Nelson
Peter Schwindt [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

 Package: libqt4-dev
 Version: 4.2.0-1

 libqt4-dev needs libsqlite-dev in order to compile some software (f.e.
 psi)

 Dependency is missing, I had to reinstall by hand.

Err, which libsqlite-dev package (libsqlite0-dev or libsqlite3-dev)?
libsqlite-dev is a virtual package that those two provide.

Package: kdelibs
Version: 4:3.5.5a-1
Severity: serious

Hi!

This bug has been filed on multiple packages, and general discussions
are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal or debian-devel in
the thread with Subject: Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in source packages.

It seems this source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc3253.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2616.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2518.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2617.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc3229.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2817.txt
kdelibs-3.5.5/kioslave/http/rfc2818.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
   license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
   the upstream archive and adding a 'dfsg' version name to it.

3. Move the package to non-free.

I went over many packages looking for names of likely non-free files,
and there may be false positives. If this is the case for your
package, I'm sorry for the noise. I'll modify the scripts to take
into account false positives when I learn of them, and publish the
list of exceptions under Known exceptions at
http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments.

Thanks,
Simon

Hi Simon,

 It seems this source package contains the following files from the
 IETF under non-free license terms:

 apg-2.2.3/doc/rfc0972.txt
 apg-2.2.3/doc/rfc1750.txt

 The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
  * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
  * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
  * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

 The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
  * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

 The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
  * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

 There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
 preference:

 1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

 2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding a 'dfsg' version name to it.

 3. Move the package to non-free.

 I went over many packages looking for names of likely non-free files,
 and there may be false positives. If this is the case for your
 package, I'm sorry for the noise. I'll modify the scripts to take
 into account false positives when I learn of them, and publish the
 list of exceptions under Known exceptions at
 http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments.

Andi Barth and I have discussed these bugs, and we believe these bugs should
be granted an exception for etch, for the following reasons:

- As you mention, this mass-filing is based on file names and may include
  false positives for this reason. Given this uncertainty, which covers
  both files that may not actually contain RFCs and RFCs that may be
  distributed with separate permissions from the authors, I do not consider
  it reasonable for the burden to be on the maintainers (and the release
  team) to demonstrate any particular bug to be a false-positive before the
  package can be included in the release.
- The time between the bug filing and the scheduled release of etch is now
  relatively short, and I don't believe, given the comparatively small
  impact of these bugs (where RC bugs are concerned), that they should
  warrant either delaying the release of etch or requiring the removal of a
  package so affected. It is normal to allow some latitude for such license
  issues while they are being investigated/addressed.

I'm happy to see that a number of maintainers have already made uploads (or
are preparing uploads) to address these bugs, and I would encourage all
maintainers to try to address such bugs in their packages for release. I am
also certainly happy to grant freeze exceptions for uploads fixing these
bugs. We only will not treat these as bugs that must be fixed prior to
release.

Thanks,
