Neither both, but just there is no possibility to do that, as there is no
possibility to save the changed document.

Stay tuned for updates.

Bug#470625: kwin: Alt-Tab stops working

2008-03-12 Thread Armin Berres
Hi Marcus!

Ok, let's stop this, didn't meant to offend you.
My opinion is still that such bugs belong into the upstream bts and not
the Debian bts,* but if you forward the bugs (yeah, I was wrong here,
sorry), feel free to also open the bug in the Debian bts.

Packaging bugs are for sure always welcome anyway.

Greetings,
Armin

* especially bugs concerning KDE 4 which is still a very very fast
moving target

Bug#407279: Additionnal informations about kfmclient's bug

2008-03-12 Thread David Kremer
Hello,

sorry for my english, I will try to give additionnal informations about
this bug.

a more precise description :

So, I open kmail, I read the backtrace of my bug report, and I click on the
url :

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=407279.

Let's the bug start.
In the same time, I'm looking the `top` screen.
Immediatly, I can see lot of kfmclient's process in activity, all with 0,9%
usage of memory (RAM : 1Go). The kfmclient's process don't die, I have to
do `killall kfmclient` for kill all the processes.

I can reproduce this "fork bomb" with all the url in my kmail-box, so I
think that this bug is reproducible.

In more, this bug come with the sign-up toolbar, or from other apps. I have
tried this method of the "external URL" with ksirc, and I have got the
same result.

again, sorry fo my english and thank you to read this message.

Goodbye.

David Kremer

When a second monitor (e.g. laptop + external monitor) is activated via

xrandr --output VGA --auto --below LVDS

then windows are maximized over both monitors (screens), in contrast to
the desired behavior of being maximized over a single screen only.
Restarting kwin (kwin --replace) while the second monitor is active
fixes the problem.

This did not happen with the previous version in testing
(3.5.8.dfsg.1-2). The problem is probably caused by the changes in
54_seli_xinerama.diff.

The problem is also found in version 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-1 from sid.

When logging in on a remote xterminal via XDMCP kdm segfaults, causing the
session to die and the greeter to be redisplayed.

A backtrace of the crash (below) shows that we crash trying to create a
bogus DBUS entry. Further investigation indicates the d->remoteHost is
NULL. It looks like there are two different types of nonlocal session:
Localy manged X servers that connect to a remote XDMCP server, and remote X
terminals logging into this host via XDMCP. remoteHost is only set in
the former case.

The patch below fixes the crash by only adding the dbus attribute if
remoteHost is known.

Bug#407279: Click on any extern url to launch in konqueror causes infinite forks of kfmclient

2008-03-12 Thread David Kremer
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.5.8.dfsg.1-7
Followup-For: Bug #407279

Hello,

I use konqueror like main web browser, and click on any extern URL
(bookmarks in the tool bar, or an url in a mail) make kfmclient listed
in the process list (pstree) is displayed with a big number of forks (42
is
the max value that I've seen). In more, konqueror don't launch, even
lot of time is spend to waiting for.

Thank you to read this bug report, and for konqueror and KDE.

Goodbye.

Bug#470625: kwin: Alt-Tab stops working

2008-03-12 Thread Marcus Better

Armin Berres wrote:
This one definitely isn't useful

I disagree. Bug reports are very useful for other people besides the
maintainers, not least other users searching for information on a
problem. The Debian BTS is always my first stop when I encounter a bug
in Debian.

You report so many KDE bugs -- what about forwarding them
upstream at the same time?

I usually do this, as you can easily check. The exceptions are when I'm
not sure whether it is an upstream issue. I'll do it for this one too,
and if you just wanted to suggest that I do so then a polite message
would have sufficed.

KDE 4 is still full of bugs ATM -- what do you think would happen if
users report all and every KDE 4 bug which is no packaging issue in our
BTS?

Well then I would be a fool to do the opposite, wouldn't I?

Seriously though: for a start, users would be able to get a good
overview of potential problems to look out for, for example when
considering whether to try the packages at all. Especially if the bugs
were marked "forwarded" (which I usually do). I don't see any negative
effects. The BTS is not only for packaging bugs.

Thanks for considering this when you report the next bug.

If you want to tell me to stop reporting bugs then just say so, and we
can argue about that instead.

Cheers,

You are completely right, and I wouldn't answer Joe User this way.
But if you are writing bug reports this is something else. You are in NM
and (should) now how to deal with bugs and how to write useful
bug reports. This one definitely isn't useful and is really an upstream
thing. You report so many KDE bugs -- what about forwarding them
upstream at the same time? This is good for your karma and we have one
bug report less we have to deal with.
KDE 4 is still full of bugs ATM -- what do you think would happen if
users report all and every KDE 4 bug which is no packaging issue in our
BTS?

Thanks for considering this when you report the next bug.
Armin

I recommend to report this upstream and tag this bug appropriate (I'm

I'm certain it worked in KDE 3.2 :)

I'm pretty certain it worked some weeks ago.
So my best guess is it was introduced with the update that came with 4.0r3.

Hi!

do you know in which version it was seen to work last ?

This is as far as I know not a debian introduced change, so plain upstream
karm versions is also okay to mention.

Do you know how can I debug the Ultra floppy disk to a driver from the folder

You neither can ever ping to the monitor, nor should save on a graphic BIOS
mouse and you either have to reinstall the wordprocessor, or must send a
sendmail over the IP terminale on a device in order to forward to a monitor
of the cable of a EPRAM DVD printer.

To reproduce, make a new task, give it e.g. 0h12m session time.
-> task shows 0:12 (expected)
Re-edit the task, telling karm to subtract 1h from it
-> task shows 0:48 (expected: -0:48)

This is a regression, it worked in previous versions.
