Hello,

There are many PDF documents that kpdf can display properly whereas
kghostview cannot. (I can provide examples if needed.) For this reason,
the mime/mailcap priority of kpdf should be higher than that of
kghostview.

Currently, kpdf and kghostview both have a priority of 5. To make sure
that kpdf is used to display PDF documents, kpdf should have a priority
of 6 or higher (in "/usr/lib/mime/packages/kpdf".)

For the record, Ubuntu ships with a "/usr/lib/mime/packages/kpdf" file
which has a priority of 6 for kpdf.

Thank you for your attention.

I have had this before, but not very often. All of a sudden
sound playback fails in various programs. Upon examining the
situation, i find:

$ lsof /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() ext3 file system /dev/.static/dev

COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE NODE NAME

After quitting kpdf, I can again play audio in other programs.
I have all the sound settings in KDE on the defaults, and I don't
remember ever seing another KDE program doing this.

Package: kdelibs4-doc
Version: 3.5.5a-1

The html pages of documentation for the kdelibs api are difficult to
read due to poor text formatting. In particular, in the documentation
for classes, the member function declarations do not standout against
the surrounding text.

For example, compare the file installed by the referenced package:
/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/kdeui/html/classKConfigDialog.html
to its on-line counterpart:
http://developer.kde.org/documentation/library/3.5-api/kdelibs-apidocs/kdeui/html/classKConfigDialog.html

I suggest re-generating the documentation with the appropriate
formatting options.

  Hello Victor:

I don't know which version exactly this was fixed, but both documentation
pages (local and kde site) are now seen with the same format:

/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/kdeui/html/classKConfigDialog.html

and current url:

http://api.kde.org/3.5-api/kdelibs-apidocs/kdeui/html/classKConfigDialog.html

I'm closing this bug, but feel free to reopen if you find same problem.

I'm afraid this is not going to change, you will have to wait for a newer

Hi,

I recently filed a bug over at KDE, saying that the search engine
toolbar is missing from Konqueror in KDE4
(http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165206). The feedback was the this
feature is still available and that it's up to the distro to package it.
Checking for available versions of konq-plugins, I found only 3.5.9, but
nothing from the 4.x series. So please package a recent version of
konq-plugins.

Thanks!

See http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165502#c26 how to fix. It would

Package: libphonon-dev
Version: 4:4.2~svn825656-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

Unpacking libphonon-dev (from
.../libphonon-dev_4%3a4.2~svn825656-1_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/libphonon-dev_4%3a4.2~svn825656-1_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
 trying to overwrite
 `/usr/share/dbus-1/interfaces/org.kde.Phonon.AudioOutput.xml', which is
 also in package kdelibs5-data
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libphonon-dev_4%3a4.2~svn825656-1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

A full log of the installation attempt can be found here:

http://edos.debian.net/missing-conflicts/logs/2008-06-30/kdelibs5-dev_libphonon-dev

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail. Possible
solutions are to have the two packages conflict, to rename the common
file in one of the two packages, or to remove the file from one
package and have this package depend on the other package. File
diversions or a Replace relation are another possibility.

This bug could in principle be filed against any of the two packages.
I might have made the wrong choice in filing the bug against your
package, in this case please feel free to reassign to the other
package.

-Ralf.

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

Unpacking libkjsembed-dev (from
.../libkjsembed-dev_4%3a3.5.9-2_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/libkjsembed-dev_4%3a3.5.9-2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/libkjsembed.so', which is also in package
 kdelibs5-dev
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libkjsembed-dev_4%3a3.5.9-2_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

A full log of the installation attempt can be found here:

http://edos.debian.net/missing-conflicts/logs/2008-06-30/kdelibs5-dev_libkjsembed-dev

I might have made the wrong choice in filing the bug against your
package, in this case please feel free to reassign to the other
package.

After the cleanup of build depends from Qt4 (4.4) kde4libs FTBFS due to
missing build depends.
kdepimlibs and kdebase-runtime will FTBFS too. There is not planning to fix
this since these packages will be eventually replaced by packages for the KDE
4.1 branch, but are kept in the meantime in unstable/testing due to reverse
depends (python-kde4).

Bug#488773: libphonon-dev: tries to overwrite file owned by kdelibs5-data

2008-07-01 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: libphonon-dev
Version: 4:4.2~svn825656-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

Unpacking libphonon-dev (from
.../libphonon-dev_4%3a4.2~svn825656-1_amd64.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/libphonon-dev_4%3a4.2~svn825656-1_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
 trying to overwrite
 `/usr/share/dbus-1/interfaces/org.kde.Phonon.AudioOutput.xml', which is
 also in package kdelibs5-data
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libphonon-dev_4%3a4.2~svn825656-1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

A full log of the installation attempt can be found here:

http://edos.debian.net/missing-conflicts/logs/2008-06-30/kdelibs5-dev_libphonon-dev

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail. Possible
solutions are to have the two packages conflict, to rename the common
file in one of the two packages, or to remove the file from one
package and have this package depend on the other package. File
diversions or a Replace relation are another possibility.

This bug could in principle be filed against any of the two packages.
I might have made the wrong choice in filing the bug against your
package, in this case please feel free to reassign to the other
package.
