Bug#476217: psi vs Qt4.4.0-3 segmentation fault
Hi! I'm one of the Qt4 maintainers - but I'm not a psi user and have no real clue on how to try/retry this bug, but it would be very nice if some of you had some spare cpu cycles to spend on this problem. Try on a updated unstable system: apt-get source qt4-x11 open debian/patches/series with your favourite editor and comment the following 3 patches: (add a # at the beginning of the line) 72_generic_arch_atomic_header_fix.diff 73_from4.4.1_no__when_ipv6_disabled.diff 0230-qtextcontrol-selectnextword.diff build. install. test. If psi now still crashes, the issue isn't directly in the Qt changes between -2 and -3, but something in the build environment. If psi don't crashes, please try enable the patches one by one and build/install/test until it crashes. Please note which patch it is. I somehow think it is in the environment, becasue neither of these 3 patches seems relevant for the crash, but is the only changes in Qt code between the -2 and the -3 version. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. /Sune -- I cannot overclock the provider, how does it work? First from Word and from the panel inside Excel 97 you cannot install the CPU of a login. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#400836: Possible solution from fam packaging. Reassigning.
reassign 400836 libfam0 retitle 400386 Avoid libfam0 depends on fam thanks Hello Chuan-kai: I think there are some stuff related to this topic already on the BTS, to name some of them I have found, there's [1] and [2]. Also I think this bug I'm reassigning is related to this problem. I'll tight to this latter, and the one I'm caring now. This bug was filed against kdelibs. After some talk within the Qt/KDE Team I think this problem can be solved within the libfam0 package. The reporter didn't want to use fam as monitor and he would also want to rely on inotify. This is ok, but there are some important drawbacks. From the pure KDE point of view, this would be hardly supported because, just to name a few: a) kde3 branch is not developed anymore b) Not all OS that KDE can be run on feature inotify mechanism. As to what Debian may concern, KDE _needs_ anything providing libfam to build and since kde is linked against libfam, libfam is also required to run KDE. So it's not possible to remove libfam dependency and build-dependency from kdelibs, the main libs for KDE. Beside this, it should be possible to run kde without having a file alteration monitor, like fam. This is easy to show, since you can kill/stop fam service and KDE will have no problem to go on. Currently this approach is not possible, since libfam0 depends on fam. I'm not sure about the implications of libfam0 package and if it really requires fam package to be installed at once. I suggest any of these 2 approaches: a) Remove totally fam depends from libfam0 package b) Suggest fam from libfam0 package. Any of these 2 options would solve this bug, and probably others. Feel free to contact me if you need any other information/clarifycation. Bug#476217: Bug#485597: psi vs Qt4.4.0-3 segmentation fault
This definitely looks like a qt bug: I just wrote a relatively simple test program to reproduce it without using psi. The attached files contain a simple application, which just opens a window containing a single QTextEditor, and, from a timer, continously adds '.' characters with the QTextCharFormat::SpellCheckUnderline style. On my computer, it reproducibly crashes within less than a second. I hope this helps debugging. Jan #include QApplication #include QLabel #include QTextCharFormat #include QTextDocument #include QTextEdit #include QTextCursor #include QColor #include QTimer #include main.h App::App(int argc, char *argv[]) : QApplication(argc, argv) { tcf = new QTextCharFormat(); tcf-setUnderlineColor(QColor(255,0,0)); tcf-setUnderlineStyle(QTextCharFormat::SpellCheckUnderline); QTextDocument *document = new QTextDocument(); QTextEdit *hello = new QTextEdit(); hello-setDocument(document); hello-resize(100, 30); hello-show(); cursor = new QTextCursor(document); QTimer *timer = new QTimer(this); connect(timer, SIGNAL(timeout()), this, SLOT(update())); timer-start(10); } void App::update() { cursor-insertText(.,*tcf); } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { App app(argc, argv); return app.exec(); } ## # Automatically generated by qmake (2.01a) Mon Jul 7 00:18:03 2008 ## TEMPLATE = app TARGET = DEPENDPATH += .
