Bug#505316: [lilo-config] Choosing a kernel from kde-shutdown menu renders system with grub unbootable

2008-11-11 Thread Mark Brandis
Package: lilo-config
Version: 4:3.5.9-2
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
On a system with grub, it is possible in kde to choose between different
kernel for reboot. After choosing one of the kernels and reboot, grub tries
to boot any kernel and stops with:

selected item cannot fit into memory

Only after a boot from CD and a 'grub-install /dev/X' the system boots again.
memtest is unaffected from that.

Bug#505285: kmail crash in 4.1.3

2008-11-11 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.1.3-2
Severity: normal

Please have a look at KDE Bug 174816.

This bug was not present in KDE 4.1.2.
It got introduced with KDE 4.1.3. From the changelog of KDE, I don't think much
changed in kmail.

As per the KDE bugzilla, one gentleman commented that it is a Qt bug.

In that case, shouldn't it have been seen on KDE 4.1.2 also?

Here's the backtrace:

Bug#492610: Etch'n'half KDE login: The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly

I just started to get error messages at KDE login. Two popup windows

The process for the media protocol died unexpectedly

Also, the desktop has no icons anymore even though my ~/Desktop/
directory and it's content still exists.

I hope this does not exist in Lenny...

I've used Lenny a couple of weeks now and I'm not seeing this issue. In
my system it was only in Etch with Etch'n'half kernel.

Hi,

The GRUB feature which kdm relies on is dangerous, buggy, and unsupported by
upstream. kdm would be much better off if it didn't use it.
