Bug#530493: kdm: Enforces the use of Desktop Themes even when instructed not to do so

2009-05-25 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: normal

Currently, /etc/init.d/kdm greps for Theme=@@@ToBeReplacedByDesktopBase@@@
in order to decide using desktop-base themes.

However, this happens even when one comments that line in kdmrc, which is
probably not what's intended. I think this comes from the grep line being
too simplistic.

Not being a regexp wizard, I won't risk proposing a patch but I prefer
leaving it up to you, folks..:-)

Bug#530522: kdelibs-bin has circular Depends on kdelibs5

2009-05-25 Thread Bill Allombert
Package: kdelibs-bin
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: important

Hello Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers,

There is a circular dependency between kdelibs-bin and kdelibs5:

kdelibs-bin :Depends: kdelibs5 (= 4:4.2.2-2)
kdelibs5:Depends: kdelibs-bin (= 4:4.2.2-2)

Circular dependencies involving shared libraries are known to cause problems
during upgrade between stable releases, so we should try to get rid of them.

This bug look like the KDE4 version of #310873 which was solved a long time

Bug#530532: libqt4-network: Locally installed root CAs not read

2009-05-25 Thread François Guerraz
Package: libqt4-network
Version: 4.4.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: user security hole
Tags: patch security

Applications using QT SSL Layer fail to verify SSL encrypted connexion
because system-wide installed certificates authorities are not read (can
be verified with strace)

For example, mumble cannot verify that a server it connects to has a
good certificate even if the root CA is locally installed (but mumble
won't work if there is intermediate certificate but this is a
mumble-server bug that will be fixed in 1.2).

it seems, the functions for requesting of webcam and offer for webcam

This is regardless, which drivers are used (one partner is using gspca, the

Bug#530555: phonon-backend-gstreamer and phonon-backend-xine don't work together

2009-05-25 Thread Juan González
Package: phonon-backend-gstreamer
Version: 4:4.3.1-1
Severity: important

After an automatic update, sound stopped working. Since that moment it was not
possible to reproduce any sound at all again, but the one used during the
KDE (v4.2) session start. Just next, this notification came up:

Phonon :KDE's Multimedias Library
Audio playback HDA Intel (ALC880 Analog) does not work.
Falling back to default.

I checked the existing packages and realized that phonon-backend-xine was not
installed so I tried with it, but that didn't solve the problem. Even
changing the priority through System Settings-Multimedia-Backends no sound
was played.

There must be some kind of conflict between both backends, because sound came
back just after uninstalling gstreamer backend and its dependencies.

Hello,

the bug you reported is a KDE bug. Please report it via
Help - Report bug... menu item of the respective application
or by visiting https://bugs.kde.org/ and following instructions
to report a new bug.

Debian Qt/KDE maintainers do not have resources to deal with
non Debian-specific bugs and therefore it is unlikely that
your bug will be solved if you do not report it to KDE developers
directly (unless it is/has been reported by somebody else).

Whenever you open a bug report on the KDE bug tracking system, or

If I try to eject a removable drive in plasma, and the device is busy
(because some application has open file descriptor to a file/directory on
the mounted removable drive), then the entire taskbar/menus of KDE4 freeze.

IIRC KDE3 popped up a nice message instead of freezing, and even listed
the names and PIDs of the apps that were still using the device.
Even if there is no such popup in KDE4 plasma shouldn't freeze.

If I kill plasma, and restart it, and make sure no other app uses the
removable drive, then unmounting it works.

 Steps to reproduce:
 1. Plug in a USB drive
 2. Click on 'devices recently plugged in'
 3. Click on device, open with dolphin
 4. close dolphin
 5. from terminal cd to /media/usbdisk (or whatever the mountpoint is)
 6. Click 'devices recently plugged in'
 7. Click the eject button next to the device

 Expected results:
Eject button dissapears, device unmounted, taskbar/menus usable

 Actual results:
Plasma frozen, taskbar/menus not responding to clicks, have to kill plasma,
 and restart it

It appears that plasma deadlocks, strace shows that it hangs on a futex
 call:

This is bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=187242 (Fixed). Should be
fixed on the next Debian upload.

 Hello Debian Qt/KDE Maintainers,

There is a circular dependency between kdelibs-bin and kdelibs5:

Circular dependencies involving shared libraries are known to cause

 rid of them.

This bug look like the KDE4 version of #310873 which was solved a long time
 ago.

But not properly solved long time ago. stuffing the binaries and the libarries
together is also not a solution.

Do you (Bill Allombert) have other ideas of fixing this than tag it wontfix ?
Hacking the shlibs of kdelibs-bin is of course a solution, but not something I
like.

Hello,

the bug you reported is a KDE bug. Please report it via
Help - Report bug... menu item of the respective application
or by visiting https://bugs.kde.org/ and following instructions
to report a new bug.

Debian Qt/KDE maintainers do not have resources to deal with
non Debian-specific bugs and therefore it is unlikely that
your bug will be solved if you do not report it to KDE developers
directly (unless it is/has been reported by somebody else).

Whenever you open a bug report on the KDE bug tracking system, or
you find that the bug has been already reported on it, you can couple
both this Debian bug and the KDE bug together by sending the mail with
the text below to cont...@bugs.debian.org (replace KDE-BUG-URL with
the address of the bug report on https://bugs.kde.org/)
