Bug#532308: kdebase-workspace: A window list, similar to KDE 3's Alt+F5

2009-06-08 Thread Markus Laker
Package: kdebase-workspace
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: wishlist

KDE 4 would benefit from a simple window-list hotkey, similar to the Alt+F5
shortcut provided in KDE 3. Justifications:

1) `Present Windows' and similar effects are impressive, but aren't available
inside VNC sessions.

2) A simple window list is easier to navigate with a keyboard than the
graphical effects that are currently provided.

Thanks for giving this feature your consideration.

Bug#532312: konsole: Resizing Konsole is slow and difficult

2009-06-08 Thread Markus Laker
Package: konsole
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

When I drag the edge of a Konsole window, the window takes several seconds to
resize. If I release the mouse before the edge of the window has caught up,
the window is not resized correctly.

I've configured a number of shortcut keys to maximise and restore windows in
various dimensions. For example, Ctrl+Shift+V, maximises a window vertically
or restores it to its previous size. If I use one of these keys to maximise or
restore a Konsole window, it takes several seconds to work; during that time,
the whole KDE session is unresponsive.

Other windows, including those produced by native KDE applications, don't have
the same problem.

Bug#532327: kdebase: Can't start a VNC session if a local session is already running

2009-06-08 Thread Markus Laker
Package: kdebase
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

If I have a local X session running KDE, I can't start a VNC session. The VNC
server logfile says:

Connecting to a VNC session that's in this state displays an unresponsive black
screen.

The only way I've found to start KDE under VNC is to log out my local KDE
session first. If I do that, both the VNC session and the local session will
run in parallel.

KDE 3 didn't have this problem: it was possible to start a VNC session at any
time.
