Bug#532731: kalarm: crashes on desktop startup

2009-06-10 Thread Thomas Koch
Package: kalarm
Version: 4:4.2.4-1
Severity: important

Kalarm should autostart in the systray, when KDE starts, but immediately
crashes with the attached backtrace. In former versions, it often
displayed events on startup, that were due while the computer was off.
So it could be, that the crash actually happens while it tries to
display an event.
Other strange things I remember:
- It complained about a missing sound file, when it was still kind of
  working.
- I use awesome as the WM, set by the KDEWM environment variable
- Normally the events were shown fullscreen, as it is the normal
behavior for windows in my setup. But two times, before the crashes
started, the event windows occupied only a part of the screen. I
closed then and the kalarm systray icon disappeared (kalarm wasn't
  responsive anymore.)

Best regards, Thomas Koch

Bug#532732: kde-minimal: Ctrl-Fx to select workspace only works for Workspaces 1-4

2009-06-10 Thread clayton
Package: kde-minimal
Version: 5:50
Severity: normal

In KDE4, if I configure more then four workspaces, the Ctrl-Fx short cut
keys for workspace selection only work for the first four workspaces,
ie. Ctrl-F1, Ctrl-F2, Ctrl-F3, and Ctrl-F4. Mouse action is required to
get to Workspace 5 and above.

Also, in the "standard keyboard shortcuts" window, these shortcuts are
not shown, and there is no apparent way to add custom shortcuts.

Plasma often crashes (but not completely) after ~2 days of stable work.
Sometimes after that it dies completely and works fine after auto-restart.
Restarting it manually also helps. Last time I started it from the Konsole and
now I've got there lots of these messagges:
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::end: Painter not active, aborted
QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 3

When using Lokalize on a debian/testing, using as project file the one that
appears here:
http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/l10n-kde4/gl/lokalize.ktp?view=markup

the dock with the glossary shows nothing. Nevertheless, shortcuts seems to
work, so the only wrong thing apparently not working is the displaying of
contents.

Do you know how to get access on the URL?

The point is that you should turn on the 4X desktop on a space bar on the

Bug#527317: seems to be fixed

2009-06-10 Thread Alexey Salmin
Hello!
I can't say if it is really fixed but I haven't seen this bug for a
quite long time (apparently since upgrade to 4.2.3).
Since this problem was quite often in the past I can suggest closing the bug.

Bug#532696: kmail mistakenly uses genetive while displaying months only in message list (in Polish, language dependent)

2009-06-10 Thread Marcin Trybus
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.2.4-1
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

Sorry if this was reported before. I didn't have time to look through the list
very meticulously.

This problem is language specific so I guess I should describe what I mean.

KDE always had my appreciation for using the correct gramatical case for dates
when the appropriate option in local settings was ticked. The problem is Polish
only uses genetive for specific dates. Eg. current month in Polish is
'czerwiec'
(June) and the date today is '10 czerwca'. (It comes from the full expression
that can be translated as 'June's 10th day', hence genetive is used.)

Anyway, the problem is kmail uses the month's name in genetive even without
the day, which looks really silly. It's visible eg. in inbox where old messages
are grouped by month.

Since KDE already stores both versions of the month's name it's the problem
of kmail using one of them to display dates whereas it should mix and match
to fit the usage. I'm not sure how this looks like in different languages, but
I'm quite certain all Slavic languages follow the same pattern.

package dependency problem

2009-06-10 Thread Rodrigo Fresneda
Dear maintenance team,

I have recently installed kde4 from debian unstable on my debian squeeze. I am
experiencing problems with amarok, and it seems it might me some bad
interaction with pulseaudio. Therefore, I decided to completely remove
anything pulseaudio-related. I managed to remove everything but libpulse0
(Version 0.9.15-2), because, among other dependencies, kdebase-runtime depends
on it!
Is it really necessary that this dependency exist?
best regards,
rodrigo.

Bug#529861: kdebase-workspace-bin: web shortcuts in krunner still don't work in KDE 4.2.4

2009-06-10 Thread Johannes Zarl
Package: kdebase-workspace-bin
Version: 4:4.2.4-1
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
The problem still persists in version 4:4.2.4-1. I tried with the following
shortcuts:
"gg:foo"
"gg: foo"
"gg foo"
"wp:foo"
, all of which worked as expected in konqueror, but not in krunner. Starting a
simple website (e.g. "www.google.com") via krunner also works, if that matters.

KIO-Slaves which operate over the network are prone to be slow. This
baddens dolphin's usability if you can't see whether it's working or

Interesting. I observed something like this with python-qt3. See
#528144.
FWIW I think that this is a bug in python-qt4 and not in python-kde4
BTW.
So, anyone out there familiar with python? I would bet that the
python-qt3 and the python-qt4 issues are the same.

Greetings,
Armin

Package: kdebase-bin
Version: 4:4.2.2-1

Perhaps problem is also with kdm and kdebase-data.
I use Debian testing in my laptop, standard version, no any tweaking, no any
special hardware - just cheap Acer Extensa.
After standard apt-get upgrade it has turned out, I have lost my KDE - the old
3.5 was disabled, the new 4.2 upgrade is stopped.

Well, it is not total catastroph, as Gnome is working, but I am seriously
disappointed, why the 4.2 was partialy released for upgrade, while it was not
ready for anything and caused some problems. I had an illusion about Debian...

Today (02.06.2009) apt-get dist-upgrade reports following packages stopped:
   digikam kappfinder kdeartwork kdebase-bin kdebase-data kdm kipi-plugins
   kscreensaver kscreensaver-xsavers

As I see it for already some days, there is nothing more left - just to fill
bug repport... Sorry...

What do you mean exactly?
The whole KDE 4 is in testing and can be installed. FWIW it might make
sense to use aptitude instead of apt-get as this can cope much better
with some dependency problems.

Can you install kde4-minimal.

It does report what?
There is no guarantee in testing that all packages are installable at
all times btw. It may be the case, that some packages are not availlable
at some times, I cannot tell if this is the case for you right now
though.

Here is no bug, so: closed.

Bug#532585: konqueror: please add dependency on install-info

2009-06-10 Thread Norbert Preining
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:4.2.4-1
Severity: normal
Usertags: texinfo-transition

Dear maintainer,

we are currently replacing the dpkg install-info with GNU install-info
(see http://wiki.debian.org/Transitions/DpkgToGnuInstallInfo for details).

In the near future install-info will not be provided by dpkg, but will
be a separate package. We have already uploaded a version of texinfo source
package (4.13a.dfsg.1-4) to unstable that ships this binary package.

Please add install-info to your dependencies of konqueror *if* you use
the dir file in /usr/share/info (if not you can ignore/close this bug
report).

Thanks a lot and all the best

Norbert Preining
