Bug#561315: konqueror: Broken interpretation of XML entities beyond BMP

2009-12-15 Thread Matias D'Ambrosio
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:4.3.2-1
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

Unicode entities with a size of five digits (I only checked those in the
SMP, that is, starting with 1) are not displayed correctly if specified
as XML entities. The last four digits are used to select a character
from the BMP instead, resulting in meaningless text.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/egyptian-hieroglyphs.html
2. Instead of hieroglyphs (as should be shown if one had the Aegyptian font
installed), japanese letters and other characters are shown instead.
3. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kana#Kana_in_Unicode , and compare
the symbols shown in (1) with these, it can be seen that (1)'s 13041
corresponds to (3)'s 3041, 13042 with 3042, etc.
3. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_alphabet , it can be seen
that gothic letters, which are also in the SMP, are displayed correctly
(compare against the images), by looking at the source it can be seen
that they are not XML entities but rather straight unicode.

This only shows the bug for Egyptian hieroglyphs, but it's probably the
case for all non-BMP code points.

gpsd on the way to 2.91; gps_poll non-blocking

2009-12-15 Thread Bernd Zeimetz
Hi,

first I have to say sorry that the gpsd transition was a bit more rough than it
should have been, I indeed did not realize that so much changed on the library
that renaming the -dev package name to libgps1-dev would have made sense.
Luckily the transition was not too hard for most packages.

gaia: Will NMU tonight.
geoclue: needs a bit larger patch as there is some weird code in it. Working on
that.
kde*: fixed in svn, waiting for an upload afaik.
navit: patch provided by me, should be fixed soon.
s3d: fixed.
viking: fixed.

With gpsd 2.91 (and the svn snapshot I'll upload soon to fix a different bug)
gps_poll will *not* block any more. As this is a change programs will start to
rely on soon it might make sense to bump the -dev package now, but as the number
of rdeps is very limited it should be enough to use autotools and friends to
check for the right package version.

If you have any comments, wishes, suggestions... please let me know.

Cheers,

Bernd

Yes, it certainly does. The hppa porters are looking into such issues,
using the above usertag as a todo list.

Doesn't this evidence suggest that either c++ toolchain, hardware, kernel etc.
is broken on hppa in general / on peri? automoc4 has not been rebuilt for half
a year and numerous previous kde4libs versions have built successfully since
then...

Bug#561234: kbounce: Flawed filling results in weird behaviour

2009-12-15 Thread Alexander Waldmann
Package: kbounce
Version: 4:4.3.2-1
Severity: important

I was playing kbounce, when I encountered a weird problem. I had a section
with a ball in it, and was going to shrink it. As the wall had almost fully
created,
the ball got really close to it, and somehow, both halves filled. The ball
wasn't
trapped in the wall, and actually bounced out of the playing area. Supposedly. I
noticed the walls weren't filling right afterwards.

Thanks in advance.
