Hi !

IMHO The page loaded at this point is not a redirect. Also Konqueror and KDE
are very strongly interestd in Usabillity. People (who aren't too technical )
would be strongly confused about packagedumps.
In case a 404 is happening and the webserver doesnt redirect with 404 page
this is Konquerors 404 page that shows only what happened any possibly why.

Cheers,

Andreas Marschke.

Bug#570733: konqueror: Improper handling of blank 404s

2010-02-20 Thread Deekoo L.
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:4.3.2-1
Severity: normal

Accessing http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20070317/fob7.asp gives a
404 response with a Refresh: header and a zero-length body. (There's a
packet dump of the offending HTTP response at the bottom of the bug report).
Konqueror reacts to that by displaying the following message:
--
The requested operation could not be completed
File or Folder Does Not Exist
Details of the Request:
URL: http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20070317/fob7.asp
Protocol: http
Date and Time: Saturday 20 February 2010 13:57
Additional Information: www.sciencenews.org
Description:
The specified file or folder /articles/20070317/fob7.asp does not exist.
Possible Causes:
You may have encountered a bug in the program.
Possible Solutions:
Update your software to the latest version. Your distribution should provide
tools to update your software.
Contact your appropriate computer support system, whether the system
administrator, or technical support group for further assistance.
--
While I'm not sure if Sciencenews.org's response is valid HTTP (I thought
servers were supposed to use 3xx codes for redirects?), this error message
is not very helpful. If it's valid HTTP, the browser should honor the
redirect directive (like Lynx and Iceweasel do). If it's not valid HTTP,
the browser should put the offending HTTP headers on the error message
page. (Currently, the HTTP headers for the error are not available from
within Konqueror at all - the 'Show Document Information' menu option
only gives the URL, the title of the Konqueror window, and the encoding.).
If it's undefined behaviour in the HTTP spec, the browser should probably
display a notice to that effect and provide a link to the Refresh: header's
target.

Package: korganizer
Version: 4:4.1.3-1
Severity: important

korganizer crashes everytime I try to sync it with my egroupware
instance after ~3-4 seconds.
If I delete all configuration files of korganizer it works for the first
startup. After closing it, and restarting it it crashes.

Here is the output of korganizer on the shell:
korganizer(9328) KXMLRPC::Query::demarshal: Cannot demarshal unknown type ""

Bug#570714: kdelibs5: Icons for GNOME applications .desktop-files are not displayed

2010-02-20 Thread Thomas Mueller
Package: kdelibs5
Version: 4:4.3.4-1
Severity: normal

Observed in Dolphin, K-Menu and konqueror

for some gnome applications listed in /usr/share/applications the icon is not
displayed.
either the defined icons are missing in the oxygen icon set
or some additional directories shall be added to the icon lookup mechanism

examples:
 gnome-about-me.desktop
 gnomecc.desktop
 gmenu-simple-editor.desktop
 ntfs-config.desktop

ntfs-config.desktop has as icon gnome-dev-harddisk defined
the pngs/svg can be found in /usr/share/icons/gnome/

I'd love to see the gnome icon rather than the ugly question mark.

THX alot,

Tom

Intent to NMU or help for an l10n upload of kdebase-workspace to fix pending po-debconf l10n bugs

2010-02-20 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear Debian maintainer,

("oh no, not him again"...)

The kdebase-workspace Debian package, which you are the maintainer of, has
pending bug report(s) which include translation updates or fixes
for po-debconf, namely bug number 533561 (and maybe other similar bugs).

The i18n team is now hunting the very last bits of missing localization
and your package went on our radar. You uploaded recently but you
apparently ommitted to fix a pending l10n bug report. We
really should prevent translators from translating..:-)

So, sorry for this, but the radar beeped at your package and here am I
with an NMU intent...:-)

This isn't a real NMU intent. I won't NMU that beast for one
translation, don't be scared.:)

Of course, as you seem pretty active on that package, an upload by you
would also be OK...as long as it allows a round of translation
updates.

The schedule could be roughly the following:

Saturday, February 20, 2010 : send this notice
 Wednesday, February 24, 2010 : post a NMU announcement to debian-i18n
with you
 (maintainer) CC'ed
Tuesday, March 02, 2010 : deadline for receiving translation updates
Wednesday, March 03, 2010 : send a summary to the BTS
later on: nag you regularly for an upload to happen..;-)

If you intent to upload yourself, please discuss with me. I propose
handling a translation update round and I can handle it myself for you.
That will just require a few days.

Please let me know, as soon as possible, if you have any kind of
objection to this process.

Hi Frans

Thangs for cc'ing the kde people. I'm not sure I have anything more to add,
but I do agree that packages that isn't expected to be $DE-only should not by
default isntall $DE specific packages.
