Package: kmail

Severity: normal

kmail always crashes when i try to assign a certificate for S/MIME
signing/encryption. Here's what i try:
- Start kmail (or kontact)
- Go to Settings --> Configure Kmail... -> Identities
- Select my default identity and press the Modifiy... button
- got to the tab called Cryptopgraphy and press the Change... button next to
S/MIME signing certificate or S/MIME encryption certificate (doesn't matter
which one)
- a new Window opens with a list of available certificates
- in this window i select a certificate and press Ok
- kmail crashes.

Here's the trace:

When I edit the kdm configuration file /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc, and uncomment the
following line:

NumLock=On

I am expecting kdm to display the logon screen with the keyboard Num Lock

This is not the case. Num Lock is not activated.

Package: kalarm
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Since I moved from KDE 3.5 to KDE 4.2, kalarm crahes on every startup.
kalarm seems to work correct after the crash. But besides the crash
beeing annoying, it seems to disrupt startup of other apps (like korn).
I used kaboom to transfer my settings, and when kalarm asked me to
convert my alarm data to a new format, I accepted.

The following is the stack trace, but the crash manager told me that it is
probably not useful and that the stack frame might be corrupted:

Eine korrekte Rückverfolgung ist nicht möglich.
Wahrscheinlich sind die Dateien Ihres Systems in einer Weise erstellt worden,
die eine solche Rückverfolgung (Backtrace) nicht erlaubt. Oder der so genannte
„Stack Frame“ für das Programm wurde durch den Absturz unbrauchbar gemacht.

When faced with characters outside the scope of ISO-8859-1, Javascript
function escape will properly use the %u format (where is the
hexadecimal notation for the Unicode code point). This is correct.

Unfortunately, when Konqueror actually tries to access an URL with
such an encoded string as a parameter, it will replace %u with
%25u. Therefore, the server will merely decode '%25' to '%' and
will leave 'u' as is. This is incorrect.

Konqueror must not escape '%u' characters sequences manually when
these are found in a requested URL. Firefox has a correct behavior
here.

Subject: kpilotDaemon hangs when "usb:" is used as handheld device
Package: kpilot
Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

*** Please type your report below this line ***

When kpilotDaemon is run having configured "usb:" as the handheld device
(instead of /dev/ttyUSB0 or similar),
kpilotDaemon hangs on a nanosleep call. This causes:

- kpilotDaemon icon in system tray appear transparent (totally empty square)
- KPilot stop with progress bar indicating 10% of sync (if kpilotDaemon is
launched by kdeinit)
- KPilot hang if kpilotDaemon was not previously launched and KPilot has to
launch it

And the "critical" issue:

- Any other program which tries to contact kpilotDaemon hangs. For example:
kdcop

I can send straces or anything else you ask for.

The only reason why I filed this bug critical is that it can make other
packages hang, but I don't consider it a
critical issue as I have not found any other program, apart from kdcop,
hanging. Perhaps severity can be lowered, I
don't know Debian policies about this type of bugs.

Thanks in advance.

Package: kdeprint
Version: 3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6

i have a shellscript:

#!/bin/sh
create-pdf a0.pdf
create-pdf a1.pdf
create-pdf a2.pdf
create-pdf a3.pdf
create-pdf a4.pdf
create-pdf a5.pdf
create-pdf a6.pdf
create-pdf a7.pdf
create-pdf a8.pdf
create-pdf a9.pdf
kprinter a0.pdf a1.pdf a2.pdf a3.pdf a4.pdf a5.pdf a6.pdf a7.pdf a8.pdf a9.pdf
rm a0.pdf a1.pdf a2.pdf a3.pdf a4.pdf a5.pdf a6.pdf a7.pdf a8.pdf a9.pdf

the user selects a cups printer in the dialog and prints the files.
normally this works. (did it about 30 times now)

and now suddenly a messagebox appeared:

KNotify:
cupsdoprint failed...
do not find file "a0.pdf"

when i check the existence of a0.pdf i find that it is gone in the moment this
popup appears.

this means that kprinter exits BEFORE a0.pdf was read.

that is a race condition and IMHO should be fixed, because this kind of script
is not unusual. every temporary print job is printed like this, for example:
i am using some c++ program to create pdf stock report files and print them
by a user configurable program like "lpr" or "kprinter". when that user
configurable printing program exits, the c++ program immediately removes the
temporary pdfs from harddisk again of course. i really think this should work
reliably. otherwise one would have to arrange for a timer which deletes the
temporary files after 10 seconds - which in itself is again a race
condition...

Hi,

you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=569211 some time

package. Can you please check whether the bug still appears with python-cups

kgpg doesn't set its own default but just uses whatever gpg serves, therefore
reassigning to gnupg.

Package: kget

Severity: normal

Whenever I do something like add a download to the queue, kget
apparently plays (or tries to play) a sound for the event. So far so
good. Unfortunately, the audio device is then unavailable until kget
exits. This despite the fact my audio device supports multiple
simultaneous streams (so normally multiple applications can play audio)
and nothing else is holding the device.

If another application is using the device when kget tries to play a
sound, it doesn't seem to ever try again during that session. So, I
guess kget tries to get exclusive control of the device. Is this a
problem with libaudio? I have other things installed that use the
library (like, uh, aRts), and I haven't had any problems with any of
them to my knowledge.

Sometimes, if I start Quanta Plus, X crashes and I need to relogin.
I can't reproduce this issue 100%, X just crashes randomly at about every
3rd-5th start of Quanta Plus.
Last time it crashed, it produced the following line in /var/log/messages:

Xorg[3853]: segfault at 1b8 ip 53f623 sp 7f3d0310 error 4 in
Xorg[40+1af000]

Because of this, I'm not sure if this is a bug in quanta or xorg.

Package: quanta
Version: 4:3.5.9-3
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Quanta used to recommend or suggest wdg-html-reference to provide
documentation. This package is no more in Debian but quanta still provides
the links to its containts (for html and css documentation) and the
corresponding docrc files.

If one install the documentation in the home directory, one can browse the
documentations (with the right panel) but the quick help feature does not
work because quanta search the help in the "main" documentation.

Removing
/usr/share/apps/quanta/doc/html.docrc
/usr/share/apps/quanta/doc/html
/usr/share/apps/quanta/doc/css.docrc
/usr/share/apps/quanta/doc/css

makes the quick help work with the documentation in the user's home directory
(in ~/.kde/share/apps/quanta/doc).

Sincerely,

Yannick

Package: quanta
Version: 4:3.5.9-3

Problem - In unstable, quanta is removed as part of the KDE 4 upgrade.
The net result is no quanta for KDE 4 users - unrelated to this is
the fact we're unlikely to get a KDE 4 specific version of Quanta
anytime soon.

Solution - because Quanta 3.5.9 actually runs just fine under KDE 4
it's just a packaging problem, relating to the dependencies on a
few packages that are nice to have, but not essential to run Quanta.

The packages it complains about are kfilereplace, klinkstatus, and
kommander - all of which are (now) versions 4:4.2.2-1 in unstable.

I'd suggest a simple update to the package to accept later versions
than just the 3.5.9 versions it currently requires.

quanta depends on libcvsservice0, which in turn depends on CVS.

I have switched from using CVS years ago. I don't need CVS on my PC.
Neither does quanta. suggesting or maybe recommending the CVS stuff
would be enough. Now it just wastes space.

Hi,

you reported http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=525108 some time
ago. Since then, KDE Software Compilation had several releases. Can you please
verify whether the bug you reported is still present in a more current
version?
The debug package for plasma-widget-lancelot is kdeplasma-addons-dbg.

RE: qt embedded for arm

2010-03-17 Thread Weidong Li
You can re-build qt libraries for arm on Linux. I do not think there are
pre-built binaries for arm. Even there is one, it may not be suitable for your
board. To re-build it, you can download the qt source from trolltech's
website. As for which version to use, it entirely depends on your application.
If you develop new applications from scratch, you can use the latest release.

Regards,
Weidong

I doubt whether QT is supported across linux flavours. I think you
will have to download
the code and then compile from sources on/for debian.

Thanks,

Package: kget
Version: 3.5.7-3
Severity: normal

I am using kget on Debian unstable/experimental on KDE. Whenever I use it
through its konqueror integration or the "Drop Target" as a download manager
it starts downloading to the last folder used. From what I understand it
should ask for the folder to save to if "Use-Last-Folder Mode" is disabled
and no default folders are specified for this file extension. I can remember
that the behaviour was once different, but has been broken for a number of
versions here.

I've attached my ~/.kde/share/config/kgetrc.

Cheers,

Thomas Luzat

Package: ppp
Version: 2.4.4rel-10
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 1.1

pppd will cause keyboards to stop functioning if using a USB modem.

The problem happens *exactly* in this order:

1) Disconnect (kill pppd).
2) Wait for daemon to completely exit (watching syslog)
3) Once down, remove USB cable.
4) Keyboard no longer works.

Interestingly, even a USB keyboard will not work once this happens. I am
running an IBM t23 thinkpad.
When this happens, the *ONLY* way to get back into the machine is restart. Also
note, even if you plug
a USB keyboard in AFTER this has happened, you still cannot use it. I am not
sure if this would be a Xorg
problem, there are no errors being written to Xorgs logs when this happens.

I DO get an interesting log entry - not sure if it is related or not:

-LOG--
Dec 12 11:40:33 astro pppd[4587]: Connection terminated.
// <- Hangup as normal
Dec 12 11:40:33 astro pppd[4587]: ioctl(TIOCSETD, N_TTY): Interrupted system
call (line 571)// <- Related?
Dec 12 11:40:46 astro kernel: [ 7234.328080] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 4
// <- Modem removed
-END--

And thats it. Those are the last 3 log entries that are written. The USB
disconnect is the USB modem
being removed.

The "USB modems" are also 3G Cell phones (one LG Fusic and another is a palm
centro) - if that has anything to do with it.

I doubt whether QT is supported across linux flavours. I think you
will have to download
the code and then compile from sources on/for debian.

Thanks,
Sujit

qt embedded for arm

2010-03-17 Thread Michael Ott
Hi!

I have small experience in writting code for arm processors. Now I want
to write a small application using Qt GUI for a arm9 processor.

I have problems to compile the source for Qt and I want to know whether
I need to compile it or if is everything available for doing that.

If I need to compile it can anyone tell me which packages I need.

If everything available can anyone tell me wich packages I need
