Bug#623596: [Pkg-openssl-devel] Processed: Re: Bug#623596: mumble: Problem with the import certificats
I dug a bit deeper into the what happens during the building and loading of the libssl.so* and libcrypto.so*. When the qt4-x11 source package is buildd libssl-dev is installed as a dependency. It is not a direct dependency of qt4-x11, but due to another dev that is installed. At the time the packages of qt4-x11 were build for wheezy. libssl-dev was still depending to libssl0.9.8 and not libssl1.0.0, as it is at the moment. So for libqt4-network the fall-backs are not used, when lib[ssl|crypto].so.0.9.8 are present on the system. On my system the sequence of picking the libraries are with libssl-dev(1.0.0d-2) installed: first attempt: (using SHLIB_VERSION_NUMBER) - library for ssl : libssl.so.1.0.0 - library for crypto : libcrypto.so.1.0.0 second attempt: (using development files) - library for ssl : libssl.so - library for crypto : libcrypto.so third attempt: (scanning the most common library paths) - library for ssl : /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0 - library for crypto : /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 - library for ssl : /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8 - library for crypto : /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 - library for ssl : /usr/lib/libssl.so - library for crypto : /usr/lib/libcrypto.so Just ripped the loading code from qsslsocket_openssl_symbols.cpp. And added some qWarnings. So the upcoming 4.7.2-4 will solve this problem as it cause libqt4-network to load libssl.so.1.0.0 and libcrypto.so.1.0.0 on the first attempt. But there is a possibility the upgrade will also break other programs. Mark-Willem -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#625646: [akregator] Click one article, it gets unread but the next one is displayed
Package: akregator Version: 4:4.4.11.1-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch Since the update to 4.6.2, with displaying only unread articles in akregator, clicking an unread article (regardless of the source) makes the article unread and disappearing (the article is still there in the "all article list"). The next article in the list is displayed instead of the one clicked. Changing to all articles makes the behavior go away. The clicked article gets downloaded and displayed as it should. Well, at least openssl is not always loaded, but on demand. GPL app may not ever use SSL and so openssl won't ever be in the same process space. While there are multiple views on this kind of issues, you should agree that explicit linking is worse. -- Modestas Vainius signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Bug#404683: marked as done (language settings for spellchecker)

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 404683: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=404683 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: kword Version: 1.6.1-1 I started a document in German, and after typing a bit the English spellchecker kicked in. So I went and tried to find where I can tell kword what language I would like to use for the document. After lots of searching I found an entry "spelling" under Tools|Spellcheck. Nothing there suggests that this would be where I can select the language for this document, in desperation I clicked it nonetheless and got a dialogue where I could select a language while being given alternatives to the first word that wasn't found in the current dictionary. "Okay," I thought, "it's not obvious but at least I found it, now let's select the correct language and then..." but that was where I stopped, the dialogue had no "OK" button. Of course, the reason is that there is nothing like confirming changes in this context because it is an interactive wizard that walks over the document, prompting the user for every unknown word. The button "finish" would be closest, and after changing the language I clicked finish, only to find that nothing changed. Even worse, after reentering the dialogue I found that the language had been reset to the former value[1] which is extremely annoying! I don't exactly remember how, but finally I got kword to check words like I want it to. I think the spellchecker's new language is only applied to newly-written content, and after typing some more, that was checked correctly. This is broken, but at least it worked somehow. Now, today I needed to change something in the document and opened it up again, just to watch kword again underline almost every word in red, claiming it wasn't known to the spellchecker. Didn't I tell it the language of the document before, why wasn't that saved along with the document[2]? And where the heck is the damn language settings for the document anyway? Is there really only a 'default' setting in the setup dialogue? If so, this would be a smack in the face of all the efforts put into i18n! Also, even this default language setting doesn't seem to work: I changed the default to suit my momentary needs and still all things were marked according to the old language. I tried reloading the document, and even that didn't work. I now have a document that underlines the incorrect words in the context of English but when I start the spellchecker it uses the German settings. I even tried obvious things like turning spellchecking off and on again to no avail. Also, calling something a default without any means to change it on a per-document base is basically a lie. Call it the global language setting or do implement per-document settings, but calling it a default is just confusing. Okay, so much ranting for now. cheers Uli [1] A simple fix for C++ might be to make the dialogue object 'static' so initialisations like taking the system's language only occurs once but changes are preserved. Add a nice comment for the reason and all should be fine. [2] In that context, I would suggest another thing: there should be a general properties dialogue where you can select the language, possibly along with some other per-document settings and (I miss that in many languages) a comment field that is not part of the printed content, just like every programming language has features to add comments, a document can and should have these, too. Putting them inline would be good, too, but anyways, this is a mere wish and not a bug. --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Package: kword Version: 1:2.2.1-4 --- End Message ---

Given that int is signed by > default I wonder if this is the proper approach and it shouldn't rather > be cast to signed char (signedness of char varies across the different > architectures). The error only occurs when file name have characters with codes larger than 128. All ASCII have codes lower than 127, so in that case there is no difference. UTF-8 uses most significant bit as flag, so some charactes have codes larger than 128. I'll explain with example: int check = 32; check += buffer[j]; assume buffer[0]==128, i.e. 0x80. When one adds signed char 0x80 to an integer, signed char extents to a signed integer and becomes 0xff80. It is not 0x80, as one may expect. But if all file names are in english, no one can face the bug. > Out of curiosity, you filed this from an i386 system. Bug#612675: libkio5: KTar class have broken UTF-8 support (longlink)
Hi! First of all, sorry for late response. The bug got overlooked in the aftermath of the squeeze release, people were quite busy here. * Rinat [2011-02-09 23:16:22 CET]: > First, tar archives have to use "longlink trick" to > store names longer than 100 bytes. Such > behavior can be observed on non-ASCII UTF-8 or any > other multibyte encoding. If file name is very long, > resulting .tar may become unreadable. Thanks for digging that up, from reading the diff it's clear that this is a mistake and should get addressed. > Second, calculation of 'chksum' field of tar header also > broken: 'buffer' array defined as char, a signed number, > while in tar sources chksum obtained as sum of unsigned > values (actually there is the trick for (unsigned char) > emulate, converting to integer and then logical and with > 0xFF). May be bad checksum was reason for unreadable .tar. This though is not totally clear to me. On the major architectures, char is signed, so I would assume that a chksum error in this area should have hit a lot of people already? Given that int is signed by default I wonder if this is the proper approach and it shouldn't rather be cast to signed char (signedness of char varies across the different architectures). Out of curiosity, you filed this from an i386 system. Did you maybe copy around the backup from/to any architcture including arm, armel, powerpc or s390? Were they somehow involved in the assumingly checksum error of yours? The thing behind the question is: If we "fix" the calculation in the direction that you propose, this would break backups done now on the architectures that do have char signed by default because it would result in a different checksum. Or do I have any mistake in my thinking here?
