Bug#631986: unclear copyright for /usr/bin/extractrc

2011-06-28 Thread Vincent Fourmond
Package: kdesdk-scripts
Version: 4:4.6.3-1
Severity: normal

  Hello,

While doing sponsor work on a prospective package that embeds a copy of
/usr/bin/extractrc, I found that it is licenced as

$ cat /usr/bin/extractrc
#! /usr/bin/env perl

### TODO: other copyrights, license?
# Copyright (c) 2004 Richard Evans

This copyright notice, without any accompanying licence, simply
forbids all redistribution and use, and doesn't correspond to the
assertion in debian/copyright that all the files in scripts/ in the
source package are GPLed.

I'm condident the original author intended to release this script
under a free license, but it would be good to get a clarification on
that.

  Cheers,

Vincent

Preferred GPG keys are completely ignored when encrypting e-mail using GnuPG in
kmail. The problem can be traced back to an akonadi search for the given
"e-mail" returning no result despite the fact that this e-mail address is in
the addressbook. Akonadi searches for e.g. names are fine.

The simplest way to reproduce the problem I could figure out is as follows:

SETUP:

a) Send an e-mail to some made-up contact, e.g. x...@y.com; select GnuPG
encryption
b) KMail will ask you what key to choose, pick one and check "Remember choice"
c) KMail will ask you for a name for the new contact, pick one e.g. "XY"
d) KMail will ask you where to store the contact, pick your default address
book

CHECK:

g) Observe that your default address book now indeed contains a contact XY for
the e-mail address x...@y.com with the GnuPG key assigned you just picked

MAKE IT FAIL:

g) Repeat a)

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR:

KMail knows which key to chose and will do so automatically

OBSERVED BEHAVIOUR:

Kmail performs the steps mentioned in b)-d)

I also reported the bug upstream at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=247229
so far with no reaction from upstream. I provide a bit more information about
the likely cause of the problem in the upstream bug report.

Bug#631953: kde-window-manager: Popup appears in the middle of the screen, not above "i" in taskbar

2011-06-28 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.6.3-1
Severity: normal

When i put my notebook into the docking station i run the script

$ xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1680x1050
$ xrandr --output LVDS1 --off

to switch of the internal monitor and turn on the external one. This
also changes the screen resolution from 1280x800 to the above larger one.

Afterwards, the popup messages indicating new emails in kmail, or those
from kopete appear about in the middle of the screen, not above the
"i" information thing in the taskbar where they seem to originate from.

It seems somehow the popups fail to notice the changed resolution.

This happens a reproducibly, e.g. whenever i go online in kopete and it
tells me how many mails i have in hotmail.

I also noticed that its possible to drag the popup to a different position,
and it will keep appearing there then, so maybe this is feature, not a bug?

Best regards
Johannes

Bug#631951: plasma-desktop: applications are very to start via kickoff

2011-06-28 Thread Johannes Willkomm
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:4.6.3-1
Severity: normal

When i start an application via the K-menu (kickoff) then it takes very long
for the new window to appear. The bouncing icon even goes away and only
afterwards the window comes up. This happpens, e.g. with VLC player, iceape,
iceweasel and kopete.

When i start those programs by typing their name in konsole, they start
quickly.

I don't seem to have the problem with kate, which seems to start about
equally fast both ways.

This seems to affect my notebook only, not my desktop PC.

Best regards
Johanes

Bug#631918: ktimetracker: Sorting a time column does not sort numerical.

2011-06-28 Thread Vincent Smeets
Package: ktimetracker
Version: 4:4.4.7-3
Severity: minor

The main window of ktimetracker shows columns for the task name and time spend
on it. On startup, the column with the task name is sorted alphabeticaly. In
case I click on the columnt header of the time column, that column gets sorted.
It is however also sorted alphabeticaly and not numeric. A time of 16:00 is in
front of 8:00.

Sort the time columns using numericaly sort. Probably using the total number of
seconds.

Regards,
Vincent Smeets
