Bug#686930: plasma-widgets-workspace: Task Manager widget looses iceweasel from time to time

2012-10-23 Thread David Smith
I've had this problem too. It is not limited to Firefox. You can use
alt+tab to get back to your window. I remember reading a massive kde bug
report about it early last year. Something to do with apps unexpectedly
changing something about their own window state while in the background
which causes the panel to lose track of it.. If you can come up with steps
to reliably reproduce the problem, it would be greatly appreciated by
upstream as they have tried to fix this numerous times in the past.

I've had this happen to me, maybe a dozen times in the past month, but it
isn't reproducible even a single second later. I'll keep digging for that
bug report. This is an annoying problem, but I fear it may come down to an
argument that s

Bug#691302: [kde-workspace] 4.8.4-4 changelog claims it introduces a new upstream release

2012-10-23 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Source: kde-workspace
Version: 4:4.8.4-4
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-Cc: perezme...@gmail.com

The 4.8.4-4 changelog reads:

  kde-workspace
  (4:4.8.4-4) unstable; urgency=low

* New upstream release.
* The package (re)building switches to XZ compression. (Closes:#688761
)

[ Pino Toscano ]
* Add breaks/replaces in kde-window-manager against kdebase-workspace-data
  << 4.7.2. (Closes:#684972 )

[ Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer ]
* Confirm symbols from buildds' logs.
* Add myself to Uploaders.

-- Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer > Sun,
21 Oct 2012 11:07:11 -0300

But 4.8.4-4 is obviously not a new upstream release.

This was introduced by
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-kde/kde-sc/kde-workspace.git;a=commitdiff;h=77bd5bdfe2492f8561736bdc7d4ae5b7dd72

the rebuild will make use of xz compression (#688761)
Conflicts:

debian/changelog

It only needed a fix in the package version.

I've been testing the Last.fm scrobbling client located here:

Bug#690428:

2012-10-23 Thread David Smith
It's a lot easier to reproduce than I previously thought...

Steps to reproduce (KWIN effects enabled by default in KDE):
1. Go into Desktop Effects and uncheck the "Fade" effect.
2. Run any GTK application (dia, synaptic, iceweasel, firefox,
libreoffice, GIMP, etc.)
3. Use left and right arrow keys or the mouse to scroll through the
menus. Menus randomly fail to render properly.

Theme doesn't matter. I made a mistake in my testing.
It was suggested to me to tag this as release critical so I will try
to do that.

-David

Bug#584725: Konsole on Sparc keeps crashing with "Bus Errors"

2012-10-23 Thread Mark Morgan Lloyd
I'm afraid I've known about this one for a while, but was under pressure
to get something working for somebody when I discovered it on Squeeze so
fell back to Lenny. The following relates to a recently-installed
Wheezy+KDE system.

You can try getting an useful backtrace by installing konsole-dbg and
kdelibs5-dbg (which should install also the -dbg packages for qt4 and
libc), and then following these:

I'm rebooting at this point to make sure that the latest libraries etc.
are being used.

a) close any konsole instance
b) in a terminal, run `gdb --args konsole --nofork`

I'm running this in a straight xterm with output redirected to files,
since otherwise gdb output crashes Konsole :-)

c) at the gdb prompt, «(gdb)», execute "run", and then use konsole until
   it crashes
d) at the gdb prompt, execute "thread apply all bt" and attach
   its output

Two files attached (gdb stdout and stderr).

Thanks for your help, Pino.

Bug#544600: iceweasel-l10n should use same l10n package names as kde-l10n

2012-10-23 Thread Adrien
Hi,

Any news on this bug since April ?

As co-maintainer of calligra, I understand the benefit of a standard way for
localisation. But « pt-br » or «ptbr », I don't care. If a majority already
uses « pt-br », then go for it.

What's the opinion of the KDE team ? Are you ready to change too ?

Best regards,

Adrien

I should mention, you don't need to use a Plastik theme.. Setting
*any* theme installed with KDE other than the default Oxygen theme can
be used to reproduce the bug. Debian comes with a lot of pre-installed
themes available.

Bug#545836: could be closed as fixed?

2012-10-23 Thread Jacopo Nespolo
I tried both to paste the long command provided by the reporter and to
write it without copying on konsole 2.8.4 (on kde 4.8.4).

there is not the wrong behaviour described in the original report.
Considering the date of the report, this could have long been fixed.

To reproduce the problem open a konsole terminal and move it to the
bottom right side of the workspace, move the mouse cursor over the clock
applet on the toolbar and stay until the popup label shows up, then move
the cursor over some entry in the task bar and stay there. When the task
label popup shows up, the clock popup region over the konsole windows
will be erased and, eventually, substituted by the contents of some
window covered by it.
It seems that plasma, or kwin maybe, is not sending the refresh needed
event to konsole.

Another application behaving like konsole is lyx.
