Bug#698328: Fwd: kghostview

2013-05-28 Thread Benoît Leveugle
To use kghostview with kcachegrind, using okular (supposing okular is
installed, and kghostview is not) :

mkdir $HOME/bin
touche $HOME/bin/kghostview

edit the file, using vim for example :

vim $HOME/bin/kghostview

add :

#!/bin/bash
okular "$@"

save and close, and make it executable :

chmod +x $HOME/bin/kghostview

add it to your PATH :

export PATH=$HOME/bin/:$PATH

Now you can use KCacheGrind or other tools that need to use KGhostView,
they will use okular instead.

Best regards

B. Leveugle

Ok, great.

I think a binNMU would be enough, but I've only checked the amd64 binaries
that depend on libgpgme++.

So you broke the abi of the package. That needs a proper transition, not
papering stuff over with rebuilds. And it means we also need to do a transition
with libgpgme++. Alterantively, we need to bring it back. If it is abi
compatible with one of the other libraries, we might be able to get away with
a couple of symlinks.

Libraries isn't hard. It just needs a bit of consideration.

while I'm not part of the Debian Qt/KDE team anymore, I can tell you this
patch shouldn't be included because apparently it just silents the debug
output of kbuilsycoca4 which doesn't seem very appropiate.

However not everything are bad news for you: to fix your problem, you just can
execute "kdebugdialog" and disabled the debug output. Disabling it patching
kdelibs like that isn't a good solution because some people needs to inspect
the kDebug() output of their programs, besides, as you can see, you can just
turn it off.

Well, given that not everybody is allowed to be a member of your team and also
not everybody is allowed to be a member of the debian project (which is
probably one of the most closed free software projects around there, with an
unneccesarily large and complicated process to become a member) you shouldn't
complain about your lack of manpower, you just asked for it.

Cheers.

Hi,

calligrastage doesn't depend on the new calligrastage-data package. That looks
like an oversight.

Would you like to prepare a -2 upload?

Bug#710198: Uses deprecated HAL on non-Linux

2013-05-28 Thread Michael Biebl
Source: kde4libs
Version: 4:4.8.4-4
Severity: serious
User: pkg-utopia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: halectomy

Hi,

HAL has been deprecated and dead upstream for many years now so I'm
going to request its removal from Debian [1].

Your package builds with HAL support on non-Linux plattforms.

Please disable HAL support on those plattforms and if applicable, port
it to native interfaces provided on those architectures.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#710199: Uses deprecated HAL on non-Linux

2013-05-28 Thread Michael Biebl
Source: meta-kde
Version: 5:77+deb7u1
Severity: serious
User: pkg-utopia-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: halectomy

Hi,

HAL has been deprecated and dead upstream for many years now so I'm
going to request its removal from Debian [1].

Your package has a dependency on hal on non-Linux plattforms.

Please remove that dependency for those plattforms and if applicable
replace with something suitable on those architectures.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#643726: Still happening

This is not acceptable, because I am not using KDE. By default, running
a command should be silent unless there is an error. Installing okular
or konqueror for testing purposes and then invoking it accidentally
through mime-support should not result in text overwriting my mutt
session. Maybe KDE needs to ship a configuration file that disables
output to the terminal by default, I don't know, but the status quo is
problematic. Regardless, my patch fixes the issue. If you prefer a
different approach, please submit a patch to that effect.
