Bug#730131: phonon-backend-vlc: Changing volume in KDE applications broken

2013-11-21 Thread Modestas Vainius
Control: tags -1 patch upstream

On Thursday 21 of November 2013 20:49:15 Ralf Jung wrote:
 Package: phonon-backend-vlc

 Severity: important

 Dear Maintainer,

 since I upgraded to Phonon 4.7 and Phonon-VLC 0.7, changing playback volume
 in Amarok is broken.
 rdieter on IRC pointed out that this is probably
 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327279, and indeed as stated there,
 re-compiling this package unmodified against current unstable (to ensure it
 is built against libphonon) fixes volume changes in Amarok. It'd be great
 if someone could trigger a re-build, or re-upload, of the VLC backend. It
 may also be a good idea to cherry-pick
 https://projects.kde.org/projects/kdesupport/phonon/phonon/repository/revisi
 ons/f278a93493ac04ce04d48e8e5b5158caa0621ce3 so that other backends still
 using the old style of environment (whatever that may be) continue to
 work. I did not try though whether that patch alone helps.

 Kind regards
 Ralf

phonon-backend-vlc already has a strict build dependency on libphonon-dev (=
4:4.7.0.0). So whatever fixed the bug was not libphonon 4.7 but something from
your build environment.

Anyway, this means that the patch from the bug report is necessary, binNMU may
not be enough.

Bug#730141: qdbus-qt5: wrongly in section libs

2013-11-21 Thread Salvo Tomaselli
Package: qdbus-qt5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
since qdbus is a command line tool and not a library, categorizing
this as library is wrong and annoying for me, because deborphan tries
to uninstall it.

Could you please change the section?

Regards

Bug#723050: can't log in

2013-11-21 Thread Mathieu MD
Hi Maximiliano,

I do use kdm to login.

I tried to run xscreensaver as you told, but it did not change anything:
I still cannot login back.

Here is my pam files:

#
# /etc/pam.d/kdm - specify the PAM behaviour of kdm
#
auth   required pam_nologin.so
auth   required pam_env.so readenv=1
auth   required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
@include common-auth
sessionrequired pam_limits.so
@include common-account
@include common-password
@include common-session

Where it's missing SELinux (which is not installed) and pam_loginuid.so
lines, comparing to yours, and you don't have common-session.

I tried adding the pam_loginuid.so, but it didn't helped.

#
# /etc/pam.d/xscreensaver - PAM behavior for xscreensaver
#

@include common-auth
@include common-account

Thanks for trying!

 Hi,

 In article 52433f8a.3040...@gmail.com you wrote:
 Thanks for your feedback.

 It may have been the case the very first day, but now that I had reboot
 many times, and still the problem is the same, what could it be?

 (sorry for replying late: I did not received your message)

 I was trying to follow the code, and it looks like
 /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kcheckpass uses the kdm pam service, which
 imports the common services and adds some normal pam stuff. ::

 auth   required pam_nologin.so
 auth   required pam_env.so readenv=1
 auth   required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
 @include common-auth
 # SELinux needs to be the first session rule. This ensures that any
 # lingering context has been cleared. Without out this it is possible
 # that a module could execute code in the wrong domain.
 session[success=ok ignore=ignore module_unknown=ignore default=bad]
 pam_selinux.so close
 sessionrequired pam_limits.so
 sessionrequired pam_loginuid.so
 @include common-session
 # SELinux needs to intervene at login time to ensure that the process
 # starts in the proper default security context. Only sessions which are
 # intended to run in the user's context should be run after this.
 session[success=ok ignore=ignore module_unknown=ignore default=bad]
 pam_selinux.so open
 @include common-account
 @include common-password

 Which is fine for a starting session.

 But, this is different from what xscreensaver uses, which is only the
 common-auth and common-account. ::

 @include common-auth
 @include common-account

 Also, you could be using KDE without having kdm installed, which would load
 the other pam service file. ::

 @include common-auth
 @include common-account
 @include common-password
 @include common-session

 So, I'm still not sure if this could be the cause of this issue, but I'll need
 to know what pam modules you have enabled.
 And if you replace kscreensaver with xscreensaver (run xscreensaver, settings,
 restart daemon, lock screen) if you can unlock you session or not.

 Thanks,

This is blocking the decrufting of libnepomukwidgets4 which in turn is
blocking the migration of nepomuk-widgets to testing which in turn is
blocking the migration of kde-baseapps to testing which in turn means
that the build-dependencies of konsole and ark cannot be satisfied in
testing. So even though this bug is filed against a version that is only
in sid it needs to be resolved one way or another before release.

 It's a bugfix release, no abi changes involved, I checked the symbols and the
 code changes, this upload doesn't require a transition but I would prefer a
 green light anyway as there is a kde4.11 on going transition.

Apologies for not having got back to you sooner; it looks like this got
uploaded in the meantime.

Some parts of KDE 4.11 have transitioned (those using the new
libanalitza*). The old libraries there are still in testing, as it looks
like cantor and kalgebra need to migrate together; I've added a hint for
that.

The biggest issue afaik is that kdepimlibs FTBFS on ia64, due to what
looks like #718047.

Regards,

Adam

Bug#730131: phonon-backend-vlc: Changing volume in KDE applications broken

2013-11-21 Thread Ralf Jung
Package: phonon-backend-vlc
Version: 0.7.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

since I upgraded to Phonon 4.7 and Phonon-VLC 0.7, changing playback volume in
Amarok
is broken.
rdieter on IRC pointed out that this is probably
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327279,
and indeed as stated there, re-compiling this package unmodified against current
unstable (to ensure it is built against libphonon) fixes volume changes in
Amarok.
It'd be great if someone could trigger a re-build, or re-upload, of the VLC
backend.
It may also be a good idea to cherry-pick
https://projects.kde.org/projects/kdesupport/phonon/phonon/repository/revisions/f278a93493ac04ce04d48e8e5b5158caa0621ce3
so that other backends still using the old style of environment (whatever that
may be) continue to work. I did not try though whether that patch alone helps.

Kind regards
Ralf
