Bug#729215: Does katepart need to be a dependency?

2014-10-08 Thread Diane Trout
Hi,

I did some investigation, and an even simpler way to break the loop is to ask
"why is katepart" a dependency of kdelibs5-plugins.

back in 4.7.4 Pino added:

  * Make kdelibs5-plugins depend on katepart, to make it "provide" it as it
happened in << 4.7.

I think the dependency was added so "embedded advanced text editor" would show
up in: System Settings -> Default Applications -> Embedded Text Editor.

I rebuilt kde4libs after removing katepart from the dependency list and
installed the changed kdelibs5-plugins. Then I removed katepart, which also
removed: kwrite, kate, kde-plasma-desktop, kde-standard, plasma-netbook.

I relogged and got my desktop. I then looked in System Settings,..., Embedded
Text Editor and saw the editor chooser drop down box was empty -- until I
reinstalled katepart (by reinstalling kde-standard)

maybe the katepart dependency could be moved from kdelibs5-plugins to one of
the standard meta-packages?

katepart isn't really a hard dependency for kdelibs5-plugins, it's just needed
for a sane desktop configuration.

Diane

Dear Maintainer,

QTBUG-41100 fixes an issue with JSON which contains UTF-8 characters
in keys. A patch is available for 5.4.0, but as far as I know, Debian will
ship 5.3.2 with Jessie.

There seems to be no easy way to work around the issue other than
not using Qt for loading JSON. It would be very helpful to have the
fix included in Jessie.

Bug#758635: krdc: crash when trying to connect

2014-10-08 Thread Marcel Dischinger
Package: krdc
Version: 4:4.14.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #758635

I have the same problem with krdc, also with a Mac OS X VNC server.
I tried gvncviewer as an alternative and it has the same problem:

Fatal: failed to create the RNG lock: Invalid argument
FATAL: failed to acquire the FSM lock in libgrypt: Invalid argument

xtightvncviewer works though.

Using packages from sid.

Thanks,
Marcel

thanks

I have just uploaded all the dependencies needed for qtcreator (and qtcreator
itself) built against qt5. I just need to wait for libxcb's reject mail so I
can push the fixed one and wait for a backport FTP master to process the
packages.

Bug#764511: polkit-kde-1: cannout mount device

2014-10-08 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
Package: polkit-kde-1
Version: 0.99.1-1
Severity: important

If I am not on systemd, and am trying to mount an external device, I get the
following error
message:

An error occurred while accessing 'XIAOMI', the system responded: An
unspecified error has occurred: Not authorized to perform operation

That is weird because when I manually ran pkexec, it ran fine.

23:10:17 rrs@learner:~$ pkexec ls
 AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.policykit.exec ===
Authentication is needed to run `/bin/ls' as the super user
Authenticating as: Ritesh Raj Sarraf,,, (rrs)

Thus, I am filing this bug against polkit-kde. And this only happens
when not using systemd as the active init.

Bug#764490: phonon-backend-vlc: backend can't access soundcards with lots of channels / 24 bit only

2014-10-08 Thread Richard Oax

Package: phonon-backend-vlc
Version: 0.8.0-2
Severity: normal

I use a RME HDSP 9652 with 26 channels. When I try to use VLC via Alsa
(Pulseaudio doesn't work at all), I get the message:
"alsa audio output error: cannot commit hardware parameters: Operation
not permitted"

This is caused by VLC thinking that it could open the RME card in some
way that it can't. The RME card can only be opened via the hw:
interface with 24 bit samples and the full channel count. A lot of
applications do this the right way (e.g. Aqualung, web browsers etc.).

Could you please me tell me if this is an upstream bug or a debian
related bug?

Thank you.

Can you get a backtrace of that? Better after installing libqt5webkit5-dbg
(which might be big). If this happens to be the same bug it will make things
easier.

Porters: is there any ppc virtual machine I can link upstream too?

Once again, thanks a lot!

Bug#764452: libqt5core5a: Please fix QTBUG-41100 "Problems with UTF-8 in QJsonObject keys" for 5.3.2

2014-10-08 Thread Wolfgang Silbermayr
Package: libqt5core5a
Version: 5.3.2+dfsg-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

QTBUG-41100 fixes an issue with JSON which contains UTF-8 characters
in keys. A patch is available for 5.4.0, but as far as I know, Debian will
ship 5.3.2 with Jessie.

There seems to be no easy way to work around the issue other than
not using Qt for loading JSON. It would be very helpful to have the
fix included in Jessie.
