Bug#841242: Compositing Problem

2016-10-20 Thread Maximiliano Curia

Control: tag -1 + help

¡Hola NVIDIA Maintainers!

It seems that the new plasma version has some kind of incompatibility with the
nvidia-legacy-304xx packages in sid. The following mail reports that using the
nvidia packages from backports works as expected.

In the kde team we are not using nvidia cards, so we can't reproduce/test
this. And frankly, this might be way out of our league. :( Thus the request
for help.

Is this issue known to you?
Should this bug be reassigned to the nvidia packages?
Can you reproduce it? If so, can you point us to what the problem might be?

Happy hacking,

Window decorations slow or do not show on non-KDE windows. If they do not
show, one can pretend they are there and do everything.

Effects all compositing options.

Where to file bug?
Quick fix?

Quick fix, force install all your 'nvidia' and 'glx' installed
packages back to 'Jessie-backports' and then 'lock-them' works, maybe
20-24 packages that you will be locking, varies a little with my
installs, some I had not upgraded and I only had to lock the packages.
I used synaptic while in xfce4 and all your kde apps work from xfce4
too as a side note. Note no problem with upgrades and those files
being locked, at this time anyways. hehe

There's a lot noise out there about fix's, I found nothing works for
me. I came up with this fix and it works. While gtk works with the
upgrade, plasma don't, it's a problem with plasma, you can't blame
nvidia and say they are not doing their part, this is a problem debian
plasma, I'm sure they are working on it. Seems to affect only
'legacy-304' and could be a simple code error.

With the Debian-nvidia driver: Plasma is unable to start as it could
not correctly use OpenGL2. Note dialog is working, sound is working,
no plasma.

With the Debian-free driver, computer freeze with colorful squiggly
lines and I have to push the power button and repair the file system.

David, do you have a better fix than down-grading the packages? And I
may not need to down grade as many packages as I do, but it works.

Bug#840141: kwin-x11: Short freeze when showing multiple tray notifications

2016-10-20 Thread Alex Dănilă

Hi,

Unfortunately this still happens. It does seem to be less often, and
I've upgraded only knotifications related packages to test it properly.

Thank you,
Alex

I'm not able to reproduce this issue, so I can't really test this.

seems to not contain anything related.

Hola! I believe this is rather and interaction between KWin
and Plasmashell. If I stopped the Plasmashell process, the
freeze doesn't happen anymore (those notifications are drawn
at the top of the screen in small windows). A further argument
for this idea is that after the freeze the screen goes one
"frame" back, and that the music and cursor are not affected.
I'll note that after restarting Plasmashell this doesn't
happen as reliably as before. However, if you know a good way
of triggering this kind of notifications, it will be my
pleasure to do it. Thank you, Alex On 10/10/16 13:14,

The entire screens freeze for a couple of seconds
(3-4, but sometimes seemed close to 10) everytime
notifications from the tray are about to scroll down
or disappear. This only affects drawing of screen
content, it doesn't affect sound or cursor motion.

If relevant, the particular tray notifications are
about bluetooth devices, I'll attach a screenshot with
this. The particular order is like this: -two messages
(M1 - connection deactivated, M2 - connection timed
out) appear one above the other -2-3 seconds pass
-freeze -2 -freeze ends -M1 disappears, M2 animates
going down -messages reappear and animate again, but
without freezes.

I'll send a screenshot after the bug is created, and
if possible a recording.

As reported it seems that the issue is bluetooth specific,
and it might be caused by an underlying issue of the
bluetooth kernel module or hardware device. In my limited
tests I couldn't reproduce this behaviour in my laptop.
Would it be feasible for you to test this multiple
bluetooth notifications in a different desktop environment
in order to rule out a kernel/hardware issue? Can you
reproduce this triggering a different type of
notifications? Happy hacking,

1. Previous bug reassigned to 304xx of AceofPeguins Freecell game failing to
start apparently healed itself, no new 304xx so maybe something else!

2. For 841242 (I filed this one as well as starting this thread beforehand),
Plasma does start. What will not work is starting compositing on start, had to
hand edit that out of the rc file.

3. Toggling compisitor choices will restore the title bar decorations for the
current session. This might seem to contra-indicate 304xx being the source of
the problem. If this assessment is not correct, maybe do reassign.

4. If downgrading 304xx be the only way now, please give me step by step how
to do this since testing packages are broken. Using dkms.

Sorry, as I mentioned, I'm not being able to reproduce this. I'm tagging the
bug help needed and unreproducible, as a way to flag the current status for
possible triagers checking on this issue.

The pending piece of input that is missing is if this bug is reproducible in
a different desktop enviroment (that would be, "is this an issue specific to
the lower level bluetooth communication?")

I'm assuming it isn't as you mentioned that the knotifications upgrade
partially mitigates the issue, but it might be better to double check.

Afterwards, could you report this bug upstream (through https://bugs.kde.org/)?

(Right now, I think that the bug upstream should be assigned to
knotifications, but I'm not sure)

If you do so, please send the bug url link to this bug.

Package: kdepim

Severity: normal

Hi,

The update of KDEPIM to version 16.04 makes krunner loose the possibility to
search in contacts. To make this search available, one must install the
libkf5akonadisearch-plugins package. This package should be at least
a recommendation of some of the kdepim packages.

Of course, feel free to reassign to the most appropriate package that should
recommend libkf5akonadisearch-plugins.

Regards,

Yannick

Package: akregator
Version: 4:16.04.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Since a recent upgrade (less than a month ago). After reading a feed when
closing Akregator it will crash without saving feeds state. The next time it
will load like it didn't fetch any feed.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

If I remaing in the welcome page I can synchronize without problems, and
Akregator will close correctly.

But If I read a post from a feed or load the list of post in a folder. It will
crash when closing Akregator.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Run under gdb generates the following stack trace

Bug#841411: libkf5kface: FTBFS: error with opencv 3.1

2016-10-20 Thread Maximiliano Curia

¡Hola Nobuhiro!

El 2016-10-20 a las 19:11 +0900, Nobuhiro Iwamatsu escribió:
Source: libkf5kface
Version: 15.12.0-3
Severity: important
Justification: fails to build from source

Dear Maintainer,

I am scheduled to transition of opencv.
  https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-opencv.html
This package is target to transition. I tested build with opencv 3.1.
As a result, FTBFS with opencv 3.1.

Could you check your package?

The build snippet shown was misleading, reading the buildlog the problem
is that it fails to find the opencv_contrib module:

-- First try at finding OpenCV...
CMake Error at /usr/share/OpenCV/OpenCVConfig.cmake:232 (message):
opencv_contrib is required but was not found
Call Stack (most recent call first):
  cmake/modules/MacroOpenCV.cmake:27 (find_package)
  CMakeLists.txt:97 (DETECT_OPENCV)

-- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!

The rest is a cmake dump of the tests made.

Are you planning to provide the opencv_contrib module that's required by
libkf5kface?

It might be useful to know the list of upgraded packages that broke your
installation, this information can usually be obtained from the
/var/log/dpkg.log* files.

  * What was the outcome of this action?

Next time when I started this computer, after the sddm login screen when I
successfully log in, I can see a KDE loading splash screen as expected, but
after the spalsh screen I see only a blank black screen, with the mouse pointer
on the left edge. I can move the pointer up and down, but it doesn't move
horizontally.

From this I would think that this could be a kscreen issue. There are some
fixes in kscreen included in the plasma 5.8 release (in particular
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366067), it should be worth checking if
upgrading your kde installation to plasma 5.8 fixes your desktop.

ii plasma-desktop4:5.6.5-1
ii plasma-workspace 4:5.6.5.1-1
ii kwin-x11 4:5.7.0-1

You had some mixed versions of plasma, given the plugins nature of some plasma
parts mixing different versions is highly disrecommended, this should be
prevented with the new packages.

Package: sddm
Version: 0.13.0-1

Hi Maxy! While we where debugging sddm I noticed that if I try to purge the
sddm package
and sddm is still running the purge will fail.

I think it would be cool if the preremove scripts stop the service before
continuing.

Cheers!

This has the issue of killing any running graphical session, which should be
avoided.

This could be handled better by the display manager, but, to be fair,
I think that all the other display managers have the same behavior, and even
if we manage to keep X or wayland alive, we'll need to avoid breaking the
running graphical session in the vt that the dm will most likely want to use.

Maybe implementing a resource manager in systemd...

Bug#841448: phonon-backend-vlc: switch from vlc to vlc-plugin-base

2016-10-20 Thread Sebastian Ramacher
Package: phonon-backend-vlc
Version: 0.9.0-1
Severity: wishlist

The vlc packaging now split the plugins from the binaries so it's possible to
depend only on the plugins. Depending on what phonon-backend-vlc uses, please
switch the Depends on vlc to vlc-plugin-base (audio outputs, almost all access
plugins, codecs, muxers, etc) and if required

- vlc-plugin-video-outputs (video output plugins)
- vlc-plugin-video-splitter (video splitter plugins)
- vlc-plugin-visualization (audio visualization plugins)

Regards

This is blocking src:kde4libs from being built on some of the ports,
which is obviously an important package. I see Pino committed a fix
almost 2 months ago; could one of you please upload this?

Bug#841458: [src:libkf5ksieve] managing sieve scripts broken in kmail

2016-10-20 Thread Maximilian Engelhardt
Package: src:libkf5ksieve
Version: 4:16.04.2-2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi,

Managing sieve scripts from kmail is currently broken. When trying to edit
the rules I get this error:

Sieve operation failed.
The server responded:
require "fileinto";

This has been reported upstream here:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=364394

Which seems to be caused by a broken fix of
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=328246

Cherry-picking upstream commit abc329d2b4d3a8efb489b0aa8dfb9cc2d2da9472 [1]
(which reverts commit aa295b6cf15ee67a980b2858ccad6e6e8e769585 [2]) does
indeed fix the problem.

So it would be great if ether a new upstream version with this fix included
could be uploaded or if the fix can be backported to the current version.
