Bug#834359: kwin crashes occasionally when creating new window
Package: kwin-x11 Version: 4:5.7.0-1 Followup-For: Bug #834359 Dear KDE Team, Please find below information from KDE crash reporting assistant. The crash happens occasionally soon after new windoe is created. I suppose the application is irrelevant, as I spotted this crash starting either a webbrowser as an uxterm or gitk. The usual scenario of crash is that new windows appear, then kwin crashes. I didn't do a proper measurements neither trying to reproduce the problem on purpose, however I would estimate the crash happenes approximately once per 20 starts. Please note there is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=361236 already reported in upstream. libqglviewer without Qt3 - #604356
Hello, I prepared the libqglviewer without Qt3 dependencies. As it gained no attention on debian-mentors I would like to ask you for upload the package to the - at the moment - experimental suite. Package is available via http://mentors.debian.net/package/libqglviewer, you can get the the source from http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/libq/libqglviewer/libqglviewer_2.3.11-1.dsc. Besides removing Qt3 stuff it is the latest upstream release, updated to current Debian policy. Thanks in advance. Bug#585043: Cannot type password when run from .kde/env during KDE startup
Package: ksshaskpass Version: 0.5.3-1 Severity: important Hello, When ksshaskpass is spawned by program running during early KDE startup it is impossible to type the password. I've following scriptlet in .kde/env: $ cat 01ssh-add.sh /usr/bin/ssh-add $ During startup I can see ksshaskpass window, it even got focus (slightly blue frame round the text input field), but no keystrokes are registered. No black dots are visible during typing the password. No key is added to ssh-agent. The ksshaskpass window, however, can react to key. It looks like only text input field is handicapped. Bug#562662: xterm needs locale set to properly run UTF8 version
Hello, After some checking and searching I've found a solution for the problem: artu...@szczaw:~$ cat .kde/env/set-locale.sh #!/bin/bash export LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 It's up to you if you, as the maintainer of the package, will just close the bug or if you find a solution which will be more friendly for inexperienced users. The background of the issue follows. I found that critical thing for UTF8 variant of xterm is proper locale setting. It is explitictly mentioned in uxterm(1): Note: uxterm may produce unexpected results if the current locale is set to one in which the UTF-8 character encoding is not supported [...] Command saved in KDE session save file is correct: wmCommand9=xterm -class UXTerm -title uxterm -u8 -title mutt -e mutt but it requires proper locale setting, which is not available during KDE startup. Please also note, that uxterm tries to set locale is possible. But KDE does not save the current locale setting. At first I thought about solution like saving in session file also environment (or, at least the locale). Or, perhaps, saving the original command (in this case uxterm instead of spawned later xterm). But I suppose option for setting the locale variant (with or without UTF) via GUI would be sufficient. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kdebase depends on: ii kde-minimal 5:55 the K Desktop Environment, minimal kdebase recommends no packages. Re: Bug#507235: [Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#507235: libkipi6 from KDE4 conflicts with libkipi0

I'm glad to know it - it's quite a nice piece of software and I would regret if it disappear from Debian. > Until then I would imagine you need to decide which you wish to have kipi0 or > kipi6 applications. But you can make life somewhat easier for users during transition time. I've found that only conflicting files in libkipi0 and libikipi6 are icons. Those icons are looking the same. So, for limited period of time (until libkipi0 application are ported to KDE4) icons from libkipi0 could be removed and libkipi0 could depend on libkipi6. Well, I know it's a little dirty hack, but I believe it could be used for some time. libqglviewer and two versions of Qt.
Hi, I maintain the libqglviewer library - OpenGL 3D viewer library based on Qt. Currently the library is linked against Qt3, but there are requests about libqglviewer with Qt4[1][2]. My question is: how long will Qt3 be available in Debian? I assume it will be available in lenny - if not, please correct me. So, I believe I need to provide two versions of libqglviewer - one linked with Qt3 and one with Qt4. I have some doubts about the issue and I'd be glad to hear your advice. 1. If there is a package with build-dependency on libqglviewer-dev how should the maintainer of the package be able to select which linking option (s)he choose? 2. Shall I provide two -dev packages, one providing .pc file for Qt3 linked library and one for Qt4? 3. Should the packages conflict with each other or not? 4. How should the packages (either -dev as shared libraries) be named? 5. Is there in Debian any other library suffering from similar problem? I'd like to take a look into used solution. If you noticed any others problems I have not though about, please let me know about them too. Best regards Artur PS. I'm subscribed to debian-devel but not to debian-qt-kde. If you are in doubt please Cc me, I'll deal with duplicates. Bug#352747: Configuration window is extremally wide
Package: korganizer Version: 4:3.5.1-1 Severity: normal Hello, Setting | Configure KOrganizer window is extremely wide without reasons. I open Setting | Configure KOrganizer panel in "Personal" tab. xwininfo says: [...] Width: 645 I can switch to any other tab without resizing. Except "Time&Date". I change a tab to "Time&Date". Window changes its size. xwininfo says: Width: 1642 Impressing. Three combos, 5 edit boxes, 8 checkboxes. And 1.6k pixels. There is something really bad with recalculation algorithm. I suppose the reason is a Timezone combo box. It has a lot of entries, 360 are visible[1].
