Bug#610193: related to hid_ntrig module

2011-03-20 Thread Florian Aldehoff
I have replaced KDE4 with XFCE, solving some issues but not this one. Some
additional searching resulted in the addition of the hid_ntrig module to
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. The N-Trig Duosense Touchscreen built into my
Thinkpad 410s seems to override mouse/touchpad/touchpoint input events, thus
making the system unusable until X restart. No idea if this should be filed as
X or kernel bug, but it certainly is not a plasma bug.

Bug#610193: bump

2011-02-21 Thread Florian Aldehoff
anyone looking into this? The bug still occurs on a daily basis. Occasionally
(5-10 minutes into every second or third session) some program seems to grab
all mouse input, resulting in a non-responding desktop. Shutting the screen
triggers this behaviour immediately, but it can occur randomly without any
notable change to the system as well. This behaviour renders the KDE desktop
somewhat unreliable.

Bug#614521: kdm: black screen with visible mouse when plugging power supply in after hibernation

2011-02-21 Thread Florian Aldehoff
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.4.5-7
Severity: important

The screen turns completely black apart from the visible mouse cursor, which
still changes appearance depending on the (now invisible) background window.
This happens every time I wake up the laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T410s) after
it went into hibernation due to low battery power. As soon as I unplug the
power supply the full desktop becomes visible again, but of course this only
triggers a new hibernation as soon as the battery runs low again. The only
escape for now is a forced restart (I'd prefer to just kill X but Ctrl+Alt+Del
doesn't work anymore in Squeeze.

Bug#610193: plasma-desktop: No mouse clicks after closing and reopening laptop lid

2011-01-15 Thread Florian Aldehoff
Package: plasma-desktop
Version: 4:4.4.5-6
Severity: important

After closing and reopening the laptop lid and entering the password to unlock
the session the KDE4 desktop does not react to left mouse button clicks. Soon
after that (ususally three to four clicks later) the right mouse button fails
together with the middle button, too. Moving the pointer works without
interuption. I'm using a Thinkpad T410s with multiple pointers (touchpad,
touchpoint, touchscreen, external USB mouse) and all of them fail at the same
time. Logging out using keyboard navigation solves the problem, as soon as I
get to the KDM greeting the mouse works again. The problem is very reproducible
as it happens every time I close the lid, causing the screensaver to start and
lock the session. So far it has happened once without closing the screen just
by waiting for the screensaver to go off.

Bug#560957: closed by Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer

2010-02-21 Thread Florian Aldehoff
Hi Lisandro,

I disagree with closing this bug. As similar bug reports like
https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdepim/+bug/158978 and
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140443 indicate, a rewrite of the dimap
system in newer versions of kmail makes this bug in Kmail 1.9.9
unreproducible with KDE 4.2+. However the bug continues to exist in KDE
3.5.10 and makes Kmail unusable unless I have a second backup IMAP server to
recover deleted messages. You switched the bug status to "more information" -
what else do you need to know?

Apart from this bug I'm a happy user of 3.5 and not to eager to switch to KDE4
prior to the next Debian stable release - actually I consider staying with
3.5 even when Debian 6 is out. Any chance that the improvements in newer
Kmail versions are backported to Kmail 1.9.9?

Sincerely,

Florian Aldehoff

Bug#560957: kmail deleted contents of inbox with dimap

2009-12-12 Thread Florian Aldehoff
Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.5.9-5
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Identical to bug 158978 in Launchpad, see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdepim/+bug/158978 for additional information and
reports from
other users. The bug was also reported to affect Kmail 1.12.1 in KDE4.3.1!!

I'm using dIMAP for a Gmail account. On first connect in the morning I got a
cryptic message complaining about non-readable contents on
the IMAP server. All folders but my inbox were synchronized and the inbox was
displayed as empty. Irritated by this I pressed the
button a second time and the inbox was readable this time, but kmail instantly
deleted all mails on the server (as it notified in the
status bar) and then just downloaded the new stuff that had come in since I had
left work the previous evening. It basically deleted
several hundred messages in a few seconds. None of the subfolders were
affected, though this has happened previously on my private
account using another machine (only a subset of the inbox contents was deleted
then, same Kmail version and setup).
It seems like the server error caused Kmail to update the local cache (deleting
messages that were there previously) - which it should
not do if there's been only a transmission error and no real modification on
the server side. Then upon the next synchronisation it
updates the server by actually deleting all remote messages as well.

Update 12/2009: This has happened twice in the meantime. Luckily I can access a
second mirror of the IMAP so the deleted messages could
be recovered, but others might not be that lucky.
