Bug#610193: related to hid_ntrig module
I have replaced KDE4 with XFCE, solving some issues but not this one. Some additional searching resulted in the addition of the hid_ntrig module to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. The N-Trig Duosense Touchscreen built into my Thinkpad 410s seems to override mouse/touchpad/touchpoint input events, thus making the system unusable until X restart. No idea if this should be filed as X or kernel bug, but it certainly is not a plasma bug. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#610193: bump
anyone looking into this? The bug still occurs on a daily basis. Occasionally (5-10 minutes into every second or third session) some program seems to grab all mouse input, resulting in a non-responding desktop. Shutting the screen triggers this behaviour immediately, but it can occur randomly without any notable change to the system as well. This behaviour renders the KDE desktop somewhat unreliable. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
Bug#614521: kdm: black screen with visible mouse when plugging power supply in after hibernation
Package: kdm Version: 4:4.4.5-7 Severity: important The screen turns completely black apart from the visible mouse cursor, which still changes appearance depending on the (now invisible) background window. This happens every time I wake up the laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T410s) after it went into hibernation due to low battery power. As soon as I unplug the power supply the full desktop becomes visible again, but of course this only triggers a new hibernation as soon as the battery runs low again. The only escape for now is a forced restart (I'd prefer to just kill X but Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work anymore in Squeeze. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers squeeze-updates APT policy: (500, 'squeeze-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kdm depends on: ii consolekit 0.4.1-4 framework for defining and trackin ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.36.1 Debian configuration management sy ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.5-1runtime components from the offici ii kdebase-workspace-kgree 4:4.4.5-7KDE greet libraries for authentica ii libc6 2.11.2-10Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libck-connector00.4.1-4 ConsoleKit libraries ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.24-4 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.5-2the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.5-2the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkio5 4:4.4.5-2the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libknewstuff2-4 4:4.4.5-2the "Get Hot New Stuff" v2 Library ii libkworkspace4 4:4.4.5-7library for the kdebase workspace ii libpam0g1.1.1-6.1Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libqimageblitz4 1:0.0.4-4QImageBlitz image effects library ii libqt4-svg 4:4.6.3-4Qt 4 SVG module ii libqt4-xml 4:4.6.3-4Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.3-4Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.3-4Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.5-8 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-62:1.3.3-4X11 client-side library ii libxau6 1:1.0.6-1X11 authorisation library ii libxdmcp6 1:1.0.3-2X11 Display Manager Control Protoc ii libxtst62:1.1.0-3X11 Testing -- Record extension li ii lsb-base3.2-23.2squeeze1 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip Versions of packages kdm recommends: ii kde-window-manager [x-window- 4:4.4.5-7 the K window manager (KWin) ii konsole [x-terminal-emulator] 4:4.4.5-2 X terminal emulator ii logrotate 3.7.8-6Log rotation utility ii xserver-xorg-core [xserver] 2:1.7.7-11 Xorg X server - core server ii xterm [x-terminal-emulator] 261-1 X terminal emulator Versions of packages kdm suggests: pn kdepasswd (no description available) -- debconf information: kdm/stop_running_server_with_children: false * shared/default-x-display-manager: kdm kdm/daemon_name: /usr/bin/kdm -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#610193: plasma-desktop: No mouse clicks after closing and reopening laptop lid
Package: plasma-desktop Version: 4:4.4.5-6 Severity: important After closing and reopening the laptop lid and entering the password to unlock the session the KDE4 desktop does not react to left mouse button clicks. Soon after that (ususally three to four clicks later) the right mouse button fails together with the middle button, too. Moving the pointer works without interuption. I'm using a Thinkpad T410s with multiple pointers (touchpad, touchpoint, touchscreen, external USB mouse) and all of them fail at the same time. Logging out using keyboard navigation solves the problem, as soon as I get to the KDM greeting the mouse works again. The problem is very reproducible as it happens every time I close the lid, causing the screensaver to start and lock the session. So far it has happened once without closing the screen just by waiting for the screensaver to go off. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages plasma-desktop depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.4.5-1 runtime components from the offici ii libc6 2.11.2-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libkdecore5 4:4.4.5-2 the KDE Platform Core Library ii libkdeui5 4:4.4.5-2 the KDE Platform User Interface Li ii libkephal44:4.4.5-6 API for easier handling of multihe ii libkfile4 4:4.4.5-2 the File Selection Dialog Library ii libkio5 4:4.4.5-2 the Network-enabled File Managemen ii libktexteditor4 4:4.4.5-2 the KTextEditor interfaces for the ii libkutils44:4.4.5-2 various utility classes for the KD ii libkworkspace44:4.4.5-6 library for the kdebase workspace ii libplasma34:4.4.5-2 the Plasma Library for the KDE Pla ii libplasmagenericshell44:4.4.5-6 shared elements for all the plasma ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-script 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 script module ii libqt4-xml4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore44:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.3-4 Qt 4 GUI module ii libsolid4 4:4.4.5-2 Solid Library for KDE Platform ii libsolidcontrol4 4:4.4.5-6 library for Solid based network ma ii libstdc++64.4.5-8The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libtaskmanager4a 4:4.4.5-6 library which provides task manage ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-4 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.1.2-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii plasma-widgets-workspace 4:4.4.5-6 plasma widgets and containments fo Versions of packages plasma-desktop recommends: ii kdebase-workspace 4:4.4.5-6 KDE Plasma Workspace components plasma-desktop suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#560957: closed by Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer
Hi Lisandro, I disagree with closing this bug. As similar bug reports like https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdepim/+bug/158978 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140443 indicate, a rewrite of the dimap system in newer versions of kmail makes this bug in Kmail 1.9.9 unreproducible with KDE 4.2+. However the bug continues to exist in KDE 3.5.10 and makes Kmail unusable unless I have a second backup IMAP server to recover deleted messages. You switched the bug status to "more information" - what else do you need to know? Apart from this bug I'm a happy user of 3.5 and not to eager to switch to KDE4 prior to the next Debian stable release - actually I consider staying with 3.5 even when Debian 6 is out. Any chance that the improvements in newer Kmail versions are backported to Kmail 1.9.9? Sincerely, Florian Aldehoff Am Sonntag, 21. Bug#560957: kmail deleted contents of inbox with dimap
Package: kmail Version: 4:3.5.9-5 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss Identical to bug 158978 in Launchpad, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/kdepim/+bug/158978 for additional information and reports from other users. The bug was also reported to affect Kmail 1.12.1 in KDE4.3.1!! I'm using dIMAP for a Gmail account. On first connect in the morning I got a cryptic message complaining about non-readable contents on the IMAP server. All folders but my inbox were synchronized and the inbox was displayed as empty. Irritated by this I pressed the button a second time and the inbox was readable this time, but kmail instantly deleted all mails on the server (as it notified in the status bar) and then just downloaded the new stuff that had come in since I had left work the previous evening. It basically deleted several hundred messages in a few seconds. None of the subfolders were affected, though this has happened previously on my private account using another machine (only a subset of the inbox contents was deleted then, same Kmail version and setup). It seems like the server error caused Kmail to update the local cache (deleting messages that were there previously) - which it should not do if there's been only a transmission error and no real modification on the server side. Then upon the next synchronisation it updates the server by actually deleting all remote messages as well. Update 12/2009: This has happened twice in the meantime. Luckily I can access a second mirror of the IMAP so the deleted messages could be recovered, but others might not be that lucky. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages kmail depends on: ii kdebase-kio-plug 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6core I/O slaves for KDE ii kdelibs4c2a 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-0lenny3 core libraries and binaries for al ii kdepim-kio-plugi 4:3.5.9-5 KDE pim I/O Slaves ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.20-2Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libaudio21.9.1-5 Network Audio System - shared libr ii libc62.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig1 2.6.0-3 generic font configuration library ii libfreetype6 2.3.7-2+lenny1 FreeType 2 font engine, shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.3.2-1.1 GCC support library ii libice6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libidn11 1.8+20080606-1 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libjpeg626b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libkcal2b4:3.5.9-5 KDE calendaring library ii libkdepim1a 4:3.5.9-5 KDE PIM library ii libkleopatra14:3.5.9-5 KDE GnuPG interface libraries ii libkmime24:3.5.9-5 KDE MIME interface library ii libkpimidentitie 4:3.5.9-5 KDE PIM user identity information ii libksieve0 4:3.5.9-5 KDE mail/news message filtering li ii libmimelib1c2a 4:3.5.9-5 KDE mime library ii libpng12-0 1.2.27-2+lenny2 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3-mt3:3.3.8b-5+b1 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Session Management library ii libstdc++6 4.3.2-1.1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxcursor1 1:1.1.9-1 X cursor management library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxft2 2.1.12-3FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxi6 2:1.1.4-1 X11 Input extension library ii libxinerama1 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxrandr2 2:1.2.3-1 X11 RandR extension library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxt6 1:1.0.5-3 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii perl 5.10.0-19lenny2 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-12 compression library - runtime Versions of packages kmail recommends: ii kmailcvt 4:3.5.9-5 KDE KMail mail folder converter ii procmail 3.22-16Versatile e-mail processor Versions of packages kmail suggests: ii bogofilter 1.1.7-1 a fast Bayesian spam filter (dummy ii clamav 0.95.3+dfsg-1~volatile1 anti-virus utility for Unix - comm ii gnupg1.4.9-3+lenny1 GNU privacy guard - a free PGP rep ii gnupg-agent 2.0.9-3.1 GNU
