Bug#559513: plasma-widgets-workspace should recommend cpufrequtils
Package: plasma-widgets-workspace Version: 4:4.3.2-2 Severity: normal The power management plasmoid contained in plasma-widgets-workspace has the ability to switch between supported CPU policies ("More..." -> "Capabilities"). However, this requires that the relevant kernel modules that implement these policies are loaded; otherwise no CPU policies are available. Loading the relevant kernel modules is the job of the cpufrequtils package. Hence, plasma-widgets-workspace should recommend the cpufrequtils package to the user when being installed. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (300, 'unstable'), (200, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages plasma-widgets-workspace depends on: ii kdebase-runtime 4:4.3.2-1 runtime components from the offici ii kdelibs5 4:4.3.2-2 core libraries for all KDE 4 appli ii libc6 2.10.2-2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libkephal44:4.3.2-2 API for easier handling of multihe ii libkworkspace44:4.3.2-2 Library for the kdebase workspace ii libplasma-applet-system-monit 4:4.3.2-2 Library for the plasma system moni ii libplasma34:4.3.2-2 library for the KDE 4 Plasma deskt ii libplasmaclock4 4:4.3.2-2 Library for the plasma clock ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.5.3-4 Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-webkit 4:4.5.3-4 Qt 4 WebKit module ii libqt4-xml4:4.5.3-4 Qt 4 XML module ii libqtcore44:4.5.3-4 Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.5.3-4 Qt 4 GUI module ii libsolidcontrol4 4:4.3.2-2 Library for solid based network ma ii libstdc++64.4.2-3The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libstrigiqtdbusclient00.7.0-1+b2 library for writing D-Bus clients ii libtaskmanager4 4:4.3.2-2 Library which provides task manage ii libx11-6 2:1.2.2-1 X11 client-side library ii libxcomposite11:0.4.0-4 X11 Composite extension library ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.1-4 X11 damaged region extension libra ii libxfixes31:4.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous 'fixes' extensio ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra ii libxss1 1:1.1.3-1 X11 Screen Saver extension library ii plasma-dataengines-workspace 4:4.3.2-2 KDE 4 base workspace Plasma data e plasma-widgets-workspace recommends no packages. plasma-widgets-workspace suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#488398: konqueror: Please package recent version of konq-plugins
Package: konqueror Version: 4:4.0.82+svn819867-1 Severity: wishlist Hi, I recently filed a bug over at KDE, saying that the search engine toolbar is missing from Konqueror in KDE4 (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165206). The feedback was the this feature is still available and that it's up to the distro to package it. Bug#348418: kdebase: kde*-3.5.0-4 Packages Break Device Icons on Desktop
Package: kdebase Version: 4:3.5.0-4 Severity: important Hi! I just upgraded to the kde*-3.5.0-4 packages from unstable. Previously I was using the kde*-3.5.0-1 packages from Alioth. With the 3.5.0-1 packages, the device icons on the desktop work as expected: No icons are displayed when nothing is connected to the system, and when I either insert a CD or attach a USB drive I get the corresponding icon and a dialog which prompts me whether I want to open a file browser for the newly attached device, etc. This is the expected behaviour. With the 3.5.0-4 packages, I'm seeing the following behaviour: I have a CD icon on my desktop, even when no CD is in the drive. What is worse, I get no new icons when attaching a USB drive, and thus am unable to access the data (becoming root and mounting the drive manually does work). In neither case do I get the dialog asking what to do with the newly detected medium. As the changelog mentions several changes related to dbus, hal and USB, I assume that one of the changes breaks the device icons. Bug#279993: Bug Still Present in 3.3.2
Hello! I just upgraded to the experimental 3.3.2 packages (see http://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2004/12/msg00150.html) and I'm still getting this behavior. Icons move up one square on the "grid" each time I start KDE. Kicker is on top of the screen and Icons -> "Align to Grid" in the desktop RMB menu is checked. I've updated the related bugreport on the KDE side at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47627 Can anybody reproduce this? What about my setup could be so strange that I'm the only one getting this? Bug#279993: kwin: Desktop Icons Change Position on Login
Package: kwin Version: 4:3.3.1-2 Severity: important Hello! Whenever I start KDE, the icons on the desktop move one snap on the grid updwards until eventually reaching the top of the screen. This is independant of the position of the Kicker panel as happens both when the panel is on top of the screen and on the bottom. Using "Configure panel..." to change the position of the Kicker panel also triggers this bug. This is highly annoying as I have to manually reposition the desktop icons _everytime_ I start KDE. This bug has been reported to upstream (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47627), but I'm submitting a separate bug report to Debian because I hope to see this fixed before the next KDE release which will take quite some time. I'm marking this bugs as important (4) because I consider this to be a huge usability problem. Thanks for looking into this.
