Bug#268804: kmail: Sub-Folders not highlighted as having unread mail - Fixed
The latest package seems to have fixed this bug, or at the very least it's fixed on the box that I reported this bug from. If no one else has seen this bug recently then I'm happy for it to be closed. Thanks for the great work guys. Grahame
Bug#268804: kmail: Sub-Folders not highlighted as having unread mail
Package: kmail Version: 4:3.3.0-2 Severity: minor Before updating to kmail 3.3.0-2 when I checked mail in if a new email was filtered into a sub-folder, and the folder structure was collapsed, then the top level folder would have been highlighted as having unread mail. Now after the upgrade none of the folders or sub-folders are highlighted. example --- I have the following folder structure: Linux Kernel Debian News Bugs Mandrake Now previous to the update if an unread email was filtered into Linux-Debian-News then the structure would look like this: Linux (Bold) Kernel Debian (Bold) News (1) (Bold) Bugs Mandrake The (1) being the number of unread emails in the folder. Currently the structure is not being updated to the second structure and it's a case of pure guesswork of where there are new unread emails. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.4 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C Versions of packages kmail depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.3.0-1.1KDE core libraries ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-16 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:3.4.1-7 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-6 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libkcal2 4:3.3.0-2 KDE calendaring library ii libkdenetwork24:3.3.0-2 KDE Network library ii libkdepim14:3.3.0-2 KDE PIM library ii libkleopatra0 4:3.3.0-2 KDE GnuPG interface libraries ii libkpimidentities14:3.3.0-2 KDE PIM user identity information ii libksieve04:3.3.0-2 KDE mail/news message filtering li ii libmimelib1 4:3.3.0-2 KDE mime library ii libpng12-01.2.5.0-7 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.3-4 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm64.3.0.dfsg.1-6 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++51:3.3.4-9 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-6 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-6 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii perl 5.8.4-2Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-6 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g1:1.2.1.1-7compression library - runtime -- no debconf information
Bug#268804: kmail: Sub-Folders not highlighted as having unread mail
Hi, the behavior I observe is the following: - no new mail, no folder is in bold (correct). Yep same here. If mail comes in at a top level folder then that folder is BOLD. - linux/debian/news with new mail, folders NOT COLLAPSED: News (1) in bold, Linux Debian NOT BOLD. I can't recall, but perhaps this behavior is different from previous kmail versions. If the structure is NOT COLLAPSED when the mail comes in then the folder the mail goes to IS BOLD. - linux/debian/news with new mail, Linux COLLAPSED: only Linux is visible, it appears IN BOLD and with a (0 + 1) label, stating that Linux itself does not have any new mail but some of its folders do. If the structure is COLLAPSED when the mail is checked in then no folders are BOLD even once the structure is afterwards expanded. In which case I need to click on the folder to see if there is new mail, a little annoying when I have 50+ (sub)folders :) No I don't get the (0 + 1) either, doesn't make much difference though as if a sub-folder had new mail but a higher older didn't then the higher folder would be bold but with no number of new mails listed at all. don't you observe the same behavior? if not, can you please try creating a new system user and trying then? I haven't had a chance to test this with a new user yet. If you still cannot spot what is causing this then I'll try upgrading my other box, the one that has the older version, to see if I can reproduce this myself. thanks, Grahame

Bug#242583: kmail: Kmail crashes when saving an attachment (*not* just alpha)
Package: kmail Version: 4:3.2.2-2 Followup-For: Bug #242583 I had some emails forwarded to me as attachments which I then tried to save individually. This, however, caused kmail to crash.
