Bug#1000549: Astroberry is buster
Note that Astroberry, the Raspian config most users report this from, is still on buster.
Bug#1000549: Knotifications leaks file descriptors using phonon and should use canberra instead.
Package: libkf5notifications5 Version: 5.54.0-1 On Raspian (armhf), numerous Kstars users have problems due to phonon leaking file descriptors, which is invoked from knotifications, see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=07 Harald Sitter recommending to compile knotifications against Canberra instead. Bug#958758: kmail: Error while trying to identify dbus interface by mailfilter agent
Package: kmail Version: 4:18.08.3-1 Severity: normal Hi, Once in a while, when I try to send an email from within KMail (being part of PIM/Kontact), the email is not sent but instead put into the outbox and there being marked as unread. I cannot send it from there. To solve this issue I am restarting my machine and then manually send the mail which is stored in the outbox. Having logged in again in KDE after a reboot, the following message pops up in the KDE-GUI: "Error while trying to identify dbus interface by mailfilter agent" (translated by myself from German into English) I am using Debian 10.3 ("Buster") -- System Information: Debian Release: 10.3 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-8-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE= (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages kmail depends on: ii akonadi-server 4:18.08.3-7~deb10u1 ii kdepim-runtime 4:18.08.3-4 ii kio 5.54.1-1 ii libc62.28-10 ii libgcc1 1:8.3.0-6 ii libgpgmepp6 1.12.0-6 ii libkf5akonadiagentbase5 4:18.08.3-7~deb10u1 ii libkf5akonadicontact54:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5akonadicore5abi2 4:18.08.3-7~deb10u1 ii libkf5akonadimime5 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5akonadisearch-bin 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5akonadisearch-plugins 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5akonadisearchdebug54:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5akonadisearchpim5 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5akonadiwidgets5abi14:18.08.3-7~deb10u1 ii libkf5bookmarks5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5calendarcore5abi2 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5calendarutils5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5codecs55.54.0-1 ii libkf5completion55.54.0-1 ii libkf5configcore55.54.0-1+deb10u1 ii libkf5configgui5 5.54.0-1+deb10u1 ii libkf5configwidgets5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5contacts5 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5coreaddons55.54.0-1 ii libkf5crash5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5dbusaddons55.54.0-1 ii libkf5followupreminder5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5grantleetheme-plugins 18.08.3-1 ii libkf5gravatar5abi2 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5guiaddons5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5i18n5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5iconthemes55.54.0-1 ii libkf5identitymanagement518.08.3-2 ii libkf5itemmodels55.54.0-1 ii libkf5itemviews5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5jobwidgets55.54.0-1 ii libkf5kcmutils5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5kiocore5 5.54.1-1 ii libkf5kiofilewidgets55.54.1-1 ii libkf5kiowidgets55.54.1-1 ii libkf5kontactinterface5 18.08.3-1 ii libkf5ksieveui5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5libkdepim-plugins 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5libkdepim5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5libkdepimakonadi5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5libkleo5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5mailcommon5abi24:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5mailtransport5 18.08.3-2 ii libkf5mailtransportakonadi5 18.08.3-2 ii libkf5messagecomposer5abi1 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5messagecore5abi1 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5messagelist5abi1 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5messageviewer5abi1 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5mime5abi1 18.08.3-1 ii libkf5mimetreeparser5abi14:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5notifications5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5notifyconfig5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5parts5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5pimcommon5abi2 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5pimcommonakonadi5abi1 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5pimtextedit5abi2 18.08.3-1 ii libkf5sendlater5 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5service-bin5.54.0-1 ii libkf5service5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5sonnetui5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5templateparser54:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5textwidgets5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5tnef5 4:18.08.3-1 ii libkf5wallet-bin 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5wallet55.54.0-1 ii libkf5webengineviewer5abi1 4:18.08.3-2 ii libkf5widgetsaddons5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5windowsystem5 5.54.0-1 ii libkf5xmlgui55.54.0-1 ii libqgpgme7 1.12.0-6 ii libqt5core5a 5.11.3+dfsg1-1+deb10u3 ii libqt5dbus5 5.11.3+dfsg1-1+deb10u3 ii libqt5gui5 5.11.3+dfsg1-1+deb10u3 ii libqt5network5 5.11.3+dfsg1-1+deb10u3 ii libqt5widgets5 5.11.3+dfsg1-1+deb10u3 ii libqt5xml5 5.11.3+dfsg1-1+deb10u3 ii libstdc++6 8.3.0-6 Versions of packages kmail recommends: ii accountwizard 4:18.08.3-1 ii gnupg 2.2.12-1+deb10u1 ii kdepim-addons 18.08.3-2 ii kdepim-themeeditors
Bug#897338: sddm: Cannot launch SDDM at boot time and from console
Hi, I have found a solution for the behaviour on my machine with an AMD Radeon graphic card and with regard to Debian Buster 10.0, by doing a search on the Internet. The following packets need to be installed: firmware-linux firmware-linux-nonfree libdrm-amdgpu1 xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu I found this information at https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-the-latest-amd-drivers-on-debian-10-buster Two of these packets were already installed in my Debian Buster installation. Now sddm is shown at the end of the start process of Debian Buster, and I can successfully log into KDE. Regards, Jens
Bug#897338: sddm: Cannot launch SDDM at boot time and from console
Update: I tried the following iso images: a) the official Debian Buster Live DVD with KDE image at https:// cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/release/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/debian- live-10.0.0-amd64-kde.iso => Running this image live results at the end of the loading process from DVD in a console prompt. No graphical environment is shown. It seems to make no sense to install this image to the hard drive. b) the unofficial Debian Buster Live DVD with non-free packages and KDE at https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/ current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/debian-live-10.0.0-amd64-kde+nonfree.iso => Running this image live results at the end of the loading process from DVD in displaying KDE. From there, if you install Debian Buster on the hard drive running the graphical installation program you are not asked in that program to enter the password for user root, only for the normal user. This results in an installation in which you do not know the password for user root. Regards, Jens
Bug#897338: sddm: Cannot launch SDDM at boot time and from console
Hi, I installed Debian 10.0 ("Buster"), the current stable Debian release since some days, on my testing machine using a Netinstall CD. During the installation process I deactivated the installation of Gnome and instead activated the installation of KDE Plasma. So this installation is no upgrade from Debian 9.x ("Stretch"), but a new installation. My testing machine has no Nvidia hardware. I did not install Debian Buster into an instance of Virtualbox. Debian Buster starts successfully but does not present a login manager to KDE at the end of the boot/start process. Instead the console is shown on tty1. Until here no /var/log/Xorg.0.log gets created. If I enter "startx" as root or the normal user in the console, then KDE starts successfully. The package sddm is installed. The file /etc/X11/default-display-manager contains "/usr/bin/sddm". I have an AMD Radeon graphic card, i.e. a Radeon HD 4350/4550. Installing the package firmware-amd-graphics (thanks for this hint to user towo from an Internet forum) does not resolve the behaviour. The command "journalctl | grep sddm" (thanks for this hint to user MSfree from an Internet forum) results in the following output ("startx" has not been executed before): --- Quote Beginning --- root@xxx:/home/yyy# journalctl|grep sddm Jul 09 13:16:06 shit sddm[401]: Initializing... Jul 09 13:16:06 shit sddm[401]: Logind interface found root@xxx:/home/yyy# --- Quote End --- The command "systemctl enable sddm" (thanks for this hint to user wanne from an Internet forum) results in the following output: --- Quote Beginning --- Synchronizing state of sddm.service with SysV service script with /lib/ systemd/systemd-sysv-install Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sys-install enable sddm The unit files have no installation config (WantedBy=, RequiredBy=, Also=, Alias= settings in the [Install] section and DefaultInstance= for template units). This means they are not meant to be enabled using systemctl. Possible reasons for having this kind of units are: - A unit may be statically enabled by being symlinked from another unit's .wants/ or .requires/ directory. - A unit's purpose may be to act as a helper for some other unit which has a requirement dependency on it - A unit may be started when needed via activation (socket, path, timer, D- Bus. udev, scripted systemctl call ...) - In case of template units, the unit is meant to be enabled with some instance name specified. --- Quote End --- Regards, Jens

Bug#928120: kdepim-runtime: Deleted email folders get restored again
Package: kdepim-runtime Version: 4:16.04.2-2+b2 Severity: important If I first delete all emails in a specific folder within Kmail, which is part of my PIM environment, and then delete this folder, and then close PIM, and then either restart Akonadi (by applying "akonadictl restart") or restart my machine, and then start PIM again, then this email folder gets restored again within PIM. This email folder is no standard email folder, but a folder which I have created on my own. The name of this email folder is "sonst". This email folder formerly contained emails which I had received from other persons via POP3, and which I had deleted. Hi hefee, I strongly assume that it makes no sense if I _currently_ would test my PIM environment in the current Debian testing release because the behavior described in this bug issue did not occur anymore since the last time I updated this bug issue on Wed, 27 Feb 2019. This is now the 5th day after Wed, 27 Feb 2019 that the behavior did not occur again. Before that, between Sunday, 24th 2019 and Wed, 27 Feb 2019, the behavior occurred very often. let's say about 30 times. Since Wed, 27 Feb 2019 I installed at least one system update via apt-get, could it be that this update resolved the behavior? I cannot remember which package this update updated. Or could it be that a misconfiguration of one of the remote mail servers which I am utilizing, or a erroneous software environment the respective mail server is running in, temporary could caused the behavior? I will report new occurrences of the behavior in this bug issue, but I do not know when these occurrences will happen again. Regards, Jens Am Sonntag, 3. Bug#900895: kmail: KMail malfunctioning: Red email folders, no emails can be viewed; "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection-1): Unable to contact resource"
I recorded another occurrence of this behaviour with the debugger in the Akonadi Console. Bug#900895: kmail: KMail malfunctioning: Red email folders, no emails can be viewed; "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection-1): Unable to contact resource"
Since the last 48 hours the behavior described in this bug issue occurred 14 times, and it strongly seems that it will continue to occur. I searched the Internet for the error message "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection-1): Unable to contact resource", and found this bug report: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/533024-KMail-Not-Syncing-Gmail-Accounts-After-Recent-Updates But this external bug report did not help me to resolve the issue. I installed the packages libgsasl7 and libgsasl7-dev, but without access, the behavior still occurs. Note that I am using the PIM and within the PIM kmail to access among other things my Yahoo mail account, but no Gmail account. I am retrieving my mails from my mail accounts using POP3, but not IMAP. Currently the behavior occurs if I click the "Check for new mails" button in kmail and then wait until the status bar tells me that this check has been completed by "100%", but the behaviour does not occur every time I check my mails using this button. It occurs once in a while. The behavior just occurred again, and here is the output of the debugger in the Akonadi Console (last lines): --- Quote Beginning --- akonadi_pop3_resource_2 (0x55975d44f2c0) 24 { Command: "FetchCollections" Collections: "UID " Depth: "2" Resource: "akonadi_pop3_resource_2" Mimetypes: "()" Ancestors Depth: "2" Ancestors Attributes: "QSet()" Enabled: "false" Sync: "false" Display: "false" Index: "false" Status: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_2 (0x55975d44f2c0) 24 { Response: "FetchCollections" Error Code: "0" Error Msg: "" ID: "-1" Name: "" Parent ID: "-1" Remote ID: "" Remote Revision: "" Resource: "" Mimetypes: "()" Statistics: { Count: "-1" Unseen: "-1" Size: "-1" } Search Query: "" Search Collections: "QVector()" Cache Policy: { Inherit: "true" Interval: "-1" Cache Timeout: "-1" Sync on Demand: "false" Local Parts: "()" } Ancestors: { } Attributes: "QMap()" Display: "Undefined" Sync: "Undefined" Index: "Undefined" Enabled: "true" Virtual: "false" Referenced: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_2 (0x55975d44f2c0) 25 { Command: "FetchCollections" Collections: "UID " Depth: "2" Resource: "akonadi_pop3_resource_2" Mimetypes: "()" Ancestors Depth: "0" Ancestors Attributes: "QSet()" Enabled: "false" Sync: "true" Display: "false" Index: "false" Status: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_2 (0x55975d44f2c0) 25 { Response: "FetchCollections" Error Code: "0" Error Msg: "" ID: "-1" Name: "" Parent ID: "-1" Remote ID: "" Remote Revision: "" Resource: "" Mimetypes: "()" Statistics: { Count: "-1" Unseen: "-1" Size: "-1" } Search Query: "" Search Collections: "QVector()" Cache Policy: { Inherit: "true" Interval: "-1" Cache Timeout: "-1" Sync on Demand: "false" Local Parts: "()" } Ancestors: { } Attributes: "QMap()" Display: "Undefined" Sync: "Undefined" Index: "Undefined" Enabled: "true" Virtual: "false" Referenced: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_1 (0x55975d403ee0) 24 { Command: "FetchCollections" Collections: "UID " Depth: "2" Resource: "akonadi_pop3_resource_1" Mimetypes: "()" Ancestors Depth: "2" Ancestors Attributes: "QSet()" Enabled: "false" Sync: "false" Display: "false" Index: "false" Status: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_1 (0x55975d403ee0) 24 { Response: "FetchCollections" Error Code: "0" Error Msg: "" ID: "-1" Name: "" Parent ID: "-1" Remote ID: "" Remote Revision: "" Resource: "" Mimetypes: "()" Statistics: { Count: "-1" Unseen: "-1" Size: "-1" } Search Query: "" Search Collections: "QVector()" Cache Policy: { Inherit: "true" Interval: "-1" Cache Timeout: "-1" Sync on Demand: "false" Local Parts: "()" } Ancestors: { } Attributes: "QMap()" Display: "Undefined" Sync: "Undefined" Index: "Undefined" Enabled: "true" Virtual: "false" Referenced: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_1 (0x55975d403ee0) 25 { Command: "FetchCollections" Collections: "UID " Depth: "2" Resource: "akonadi_pop3_resource_1" Mimetypes: "()" Ancestors Depth: "0" Ancestors Attributes: "QSet()" Enabled: "false" Sync: "true" Display: "false" Index: "false" Status: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_1 (0x55975d403ee0) 25 { Response: "FetchCollections" Error Code: "0" Error Msg: "" ID: "-1" Name: "" Parent ID: "-1" Remote ID: "" Remote Revision: "" Resource: "" Mimetypes: "()" Statistics: { Count: "-1" Unseen: "-1" Size: "-1" } Search Query: "" Search Collections: "QVector()" Cache Policy: { Inherit: "true" Interval: "-1" Cache Timeout: "-1" Sync on Demand: "false" Local Parts: "()" } Ancestors: { } Attributes: "QMap()" Display: "Undefined" Sync: "Undefined" Index: "Undefined" Enabled: "true" Virtual: "false" Referenced: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_0 (0x55975d4559d0) 24 { Command: "FetchCollections" Collections: "UID " Depth: "2" Resource: "akonadi_pop3_resource_0" Mimetypes: "()" Ancestors Depth: "2" Ancestors Attributes: "QSet()" Enabled: "false" Sync: "false" Display: "false" Index: "false" Status: "false" } akonadi_pop3_resource_0 (0x55975d4559d0) 24 { Response: "Fet

Bug#900895: kmail: KMail malfunctioning: Red email folders, no emails can be viewed; "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection-1): Unable to contact resource"
Package: kmail Version: 4:16.04.3-4~deb9u1 Severity: important Hi, The following behaviour currently occurs in my Debian 9 (Stretch) installation since some days, several times a day. All current Debian repository updates are installed in my system. The file /etc/debian_version says "9.4" as the currently installed Debian version on my computer. KDE 5 (Plasma) is the only installed Desktop Manager in my system. This is the content of my sources.list file: - - - Quote Beginning - - - deb http://ftp2.de.debian.org/debian/ stretch main contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp2.de.debian.org/debian/ stretch main contrib non-free deb http://security.debian.org/ stretch/updates main contrib non-free deb-src http://security.debian.org/ stretch/updates main contrib non-free - - - Quote End - - - This is a description of the behaviour: 1. Kdepim is running for a while. Within Kdepim, I am either writing a new email, and/or I am clicking around in the email folders, and/or I am viewing emails which I had received in the Preview Window of the KMail section of kdepim. 2. Suddenly the colour of the names of all email folders in the KMail section turns red, and the status indicator line shows the following error message: "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection-1): Unable to contact resource" 3. I am not able to view the contents of any email in the Preview Window of KMail anymore, no email is displayed there. 4. When double-clicking any email in any email folder, its content is not displayed, the email does not get opened. Instead, an external window is displayed with the following text: "Bitte Übertragung der Nachricht abwarten" (this can be translated into English like "Please wait for the message being transferred"). No message get transferred, independent from how long I wait. 5. While this behaviour occurs, event reminders from the calendar application (KOrganizer), which is part of Kdepim, get displayed. To resolve this behaviour I successfully can apply the command "akonadictl restart", or I reboot my machine. I did not check whether this bevaviour gets resolved if I log off from KDE and log in again. This behaviour is similar, but not identical with bug #726831. Bug#680547: [kgpg] Default config path setting for Kgpg is out of date
Package: kgpg Version: 4:4.8.4-3 --- Please enter the report below this line. --- I have found the solution for this Bug. The Problem ist that the default config path setting for Kgpg in <~/.kde/share/config/kgpgrc> is out of date. The new KGpg version is the first one to actually force GnuPG to use that config file, while older versions only passed the directory to GnuPG, so silently ignoring the wrong configuration. Bug#580126: (no subject)
Package: libqt4-dev Version: 4:4.6.2-4 Severity: important Tags: squeeze I use a ERP program with qt + postgresql to run my small business and with the upgrade of qt packages from 4.5.3 to 4.6 the zeros in prices are cutoff like this, 34.00 is displayed as 34 and 25.20 as 25.2 . Even when printing invoices the prices are printed as described above. Using the sql browser from the demos this error shows, pgadmin3 displays the same numeric numbers as it should be. So there's no error in the database and no errors inserting numeric numbers with my ERP program. I compiled qt-4.5.3 manually and linked my program against it. Everything then shows as it should be w/o errors and printouts display the prices as it should be. I even compiled qt-4.7.0 manually and got the same error as in 4.6.2. I guess it's a qt bug. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-3-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libqt4-dev depends on: ii libc6 2.10.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.2-9GCC support library ii libqt4-assistant4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 assistant module ii libqt4-dbus 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 D-Bus module ii libqt4-designer 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 designer module ii libqt4-help 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 help module ii libqt4-multimedia 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 Multimedia module ii libqt4-network 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 network module ii libqt4-qt3support 4:4.6.2-4Qt 3 compatibility library for Qt ii libqt4-script 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 script module ii libqt4-scripttools 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 script tools module ii libqt4-sql 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 SQL module ii libqt4-svg 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 SVG module ii libqt4-test 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 test module ii libqt4-webkit 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 WebKit module ii libqt4-xml 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 XML module ii libqt4-xmlpatterns 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 XML patterns module ii libqtcore4 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 core module ii libqtgui4 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 GUI module ii libstdc++6 4.4.2-9 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii qt4-qmake 4:4.6.2-4Qt 4 qmake Makefile generator tool ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime Versions of packages libqt4-dev recommends: ii libqt4-opengl-dev 4:4.6.2-4 Qt 4 OpenGL library development fi Versions of packages libqt4-dev suggests: pn firebird2.1-dev(no description available) pn libmysqlclient-dev (no description available) ii libpq-dev 8.4.3-1header files for libpq5 (PostgreSQ pn libsqlite0-dev (no description available) pn libsqlite3-dev (no description available) ii qt4-dev-tools 4:4.6.2-4 Qt 4 development tools ii qt4-doc 4:4.6.2-4 Qt 4 API documentation pn unixodbc-dev (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-qt-kde-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Does this mean the problem is fixed now for everyone and every server? I will update http://www.de.debian.org/intro/cn#konqueror to reflect this. I still get English pages without a Languages= line at all. But I think KDE should deliver the single default language in this case. Only if multiple languages are requested ~/.kde/share/config/kio_httprc needs to be modified!? > Oh, about the bug report you pointed: the poster says he has only > problems with w.de.d.o, not others. Aren't all sites exact mirrors? The poster is me :-) In the past I was able to reproduce it only with the German mirror, later I noticed the problem also in other mirrors and now it vanished!? I assumed it also depends on the web server which the Debian project cannot dictate on mirrors. Can other users please test konqueror? Jens

Bug#362653: konqueror: error message uses wrong encoding
Package: konqueror Version: 4:3.5.1-1 Severity: minor Hi, I was recently out of disk space and tried to find a new hard disk on my favourite shop. English: Could not save bookmarks in /home/jens/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/bookmarks.xml. The returned error is: No diskspace available on device. The message is displayed only once. Fix the problem as soon as possible. Probably the hard disk is full. The problem is that the returned error message is wrongly encoded. Whereas the system used UTF-8 as default, konqueror assumes ASCII (latin1). Expected: "Auf dem Gerät ist kein Speicherplatz mehr verfügbar." Recieved: "Auf dem Gerät ist kein Speicherplatz mehr verfügbar." That's the result of converting an UTF-8 encoded string from latin1 to UTF-8. But imho the dependeny of kdenetwork-filesharing towards perl-suid is "absolute", because without perl-suid kdenetwork-filesharing is broken. And it is broken in "all" installations. Therefore afaiu it should depend on perl-suid: From the same page: » Depends == This declares an absolute dependency.[...] The Depends field should be used if the depended-on package is required for the depending package to provide a significant amount of functionality. « perl-suid does not only "provide a significant amount of functionality", without perl-suid the package kdenetwork-filesharing is _broken_ > > apt-get warns you about which packages are recommended apt-get does not "warn" me. Jens pgpuuyPEknP5O.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#323064: kdenetwork-filesharing needs to depend on 'perl-suid'
Package: kdenetwork-filesharing Version: 4:3.4.0-0pre1 Severity: important kdenetwork-filesharing makes use of /usr/bin/fileshareset and /usr/bin/filesharelist, which are setuid perl scripts. These two scripts are included in kdelibs-bin. Without the package 'perl-suid' on cannot use these 2 scripts, hence one cannot use KDE's filesharing features. kdelibs-bin is does only recommend perl-suid. Therefore, perl-suid will not be installed, when kdenetwork-filesharing is installed. The user gets some wierd error messages ("make sure if the fileshareset script ist really setuid" or something similiar) but does not know what to do. Solution: a) make kdenetwork-filesharing depend on the perl-suid (also you might then be able to remove the "recommend" from kdelibs-bin) b) make kdelibs-bin depend on perl-suid instead of only recommending it Don't know which one is better. Anyway, without perl-suid the package kdenetwork-filesharing is not usable, therefore there must be some kind of dependance on perl-suid. non resolved dependency installing kdelibs4
Hi, I get the following error (using aptitude) when trying to install kdelibs4: kdelibs4 depends on libjack0.80.0-0 (>= 0.99.0) [UNAVAILABLE] libjack0.100.0-0 is available and would fullfill the >=0.99.0 requirement as well. I don't understand, why 0.80.0-0 is needed. This breaks the whole KDE package in the current unstable tree. Any ideas how to resolve this? kdelibs4 in experimental depends on non-existant libopenexr0
Received: from 217.231.230.182 by freemailng0806.web.de with HTTP; Tue, 24 Aug 2004 13:56:36 +0200 Date: Tue, 24 Aug 2004 13:56:36 +0200 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --- END HEADERS --- Hi, at the moment I can't use kmail in sid, because of #264976 [1]. Therefore I tried installing the latest kde from experimental. This does not work because kdelibs4 in experimental depends on libopenexr0 (>= 1.1.1). However, there is a libopenexr2 package, so I suggest to change the "Depends: " field of the kdelibs4 package. Regards, Jens (not on the list) [1] The recommended workaround for this bug does not work for me, since sid contains different packages now, which are also not very compatible with snapshot.debian.net --> so I can't use kmail at the moment, which is *very* unfortunate for me... ___ WEB.DE Video-Mail - Sagen Sie mehr mit bewegten Bildern Informationen unter: http://freemail.web.de/?mc=021199
