Bug#395146: kdeprint: cannot create CUPS printer (client-error-bad-request)

2006-10-25 Thread Jeremy Laine
Package: kdeprint
Version: 4:3.5.5a-2
Severity: important

I am unable to create a local CUPS printer using the KDE printer
manager. I have experienced the same problem with on two different
machines with different printers, so the problem seems to be fairly
generic. A higher severity may be appropriate as the user cannot make
use of the print facility at all unless he/she can create a printer.

Initial conditions:

CUPS installed, but no printer configured.

Steps to reproduce:

1/ Launch KDE Control Center
2/ Switch to Administrator Mode
3/ Choose Add Printer/Class
 - Select Local printer
 - Select USB printer (in my case USB #1 - Samsung ML-2010)
 - Select driver (in my case the foomatic/gdi driver for Samsung ML-200)
4/ Press Test.

I get an error message : Unable to create temporary printer

5/ Click through the remaining screens, and press Finish

I get an error message : Unable to create printer. Error message
received from manager: client-error-bad-request

Additional tests:

I can create the printer just fine using foomatic-gui, and it works OK. The
printer now appears correctly in the KDE printer manager, and it is even
possible to remove the printer via KDE's interface.

Re: libqt3-mt: xim patch crashes katepart inside kdevelop

2006-08-21 Thread Jeremy Laine

...so I'm reassigning the bug to kdevelop. The next kdevelop upload that
contains a branch pull, or the next upstream release (3.3.5) should fix
the problem.

Thanks for the link to the SVN commit, the patch will be in the next
KDevelop upload!

BTW, Jeremy, do you plan to update kdevelop in the future? I noticed
that 3.3.2 finally entered Testing.

Definitely, I have been working on an upload of KDevelop 3.3.4:

http://dev.jerryweb.org/svn/pkg-kdevelop/trunk/debian/

I was waiting for KDevelop 3.3.2 to hit testing and/or an update to
kdesdk (it's at 3.5.2, any new uploads planned in the near future?) to
do the actual upload.

Bug#342658: libqt4-core: Locking Issue?

2006-01-11 Thread Jeremy Laine

Hi Brian,

Does this still happen with Qt 4.1.0?

I can no longer reproduce the problem with Qt 4.1.0 on ia64,
QFile::open seems to work fine now. I tried both a simple test program
and running lrelease on a Qt translation file. From my point of view,
the bug is closed.

Cheers,
Jeremy

Bug#343176: qt4-x11: FTBFS on arm (cannot bind packed field)

2005-12-13 Thread Jeremy Laine

Package: qt4-x11
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Currently, qt4-x11 fails to build from source on arm, with this error:

In member function 'ushort QChar::unicode()':
/build/buildd/qt4-x11-4.0.0/include/QtCore/../../src/corelib/tools/qchar.h:225:
error: cannot bind packed field '((QChar*)this)-QChar::ucs' to
'ushort'

The full log is here:

http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.php?pkg=qt4-x11ver=4.0.1-5arch=armstamp=1132352199file=logas=raw

I noticed there is a patch in the Debian version of qt-x11-free
(10_arm_gcc4.dpatch) that seems to address the same issue. The attached
patch should hopefully do the trick (I haven't been able to check for
myself as I couldn't find a Debian/arm machine with chroots that is up).

Cheers,
Jeremy

Bug#342658: libqt4-core: QFile::open is unusable on ia64

2005-12-09 Thread Jeremy Laine
Package: libqt4-core
Version: 4.0.1-5

I noticed that the ia64 buildd was unable to compile the package
'sailcut', it systematically hangs when running lrelease. Upon closer
inspection, it turns out that lrelease hangs when making a call to
QFile::open.

I tried compiling a minimal Qt4 program that makes use of this function
and sucessfully reproduced the problem. I have attached the program to
this bug report.

Helping maintain KDevelop

2005-09-26 Thread Jeremy Laine
I have been unable to reach Norman Jordan, kdevelop3's maintainer for nearly a
month. I browsed the mailing lists and did not find any vacation notice from
Norman. I have fixed a number of issues in kdevelop3 in two successive NMUs
(the second one should be going into unstable today) and have yet to receive
any response from Norman.

If I do not receive any response in the coming week, I plan to add myself to the
Uploaders field of kdevelop3, acknowledge my NMUs and go on maintaining the
package. I just wanted it noted for the record that I am not suddenly hijacking
KDevelop :)

Cheers,
Jeremy

Re: Helping maintain KDevelop

2005-09-26 Thread Jeremy Laine
Hi Norman!

Hello Jeremy. I responded to that email on September 13th.

I honestly did not see your email, could be there was a problem with my spam
filtering. Could you possibly resend you email to me? Anyhow, I'm glad the
contact is established.

You are not suddenly hijacking the packages, but by not acknowledging my
email, you are still effectively hijacking it.

Now that I have managed to contact you, I will obviously not proceed unless you
agree! Just let me know how you wish to proceed, whether you wish to continue
to maintain kdevelop alone, co-maintain it or even put it up for adoption. I'm
more than happy to help out.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards,
Jeremy

Bug#283744: kdebindings: patch to build libdcop-perl

2004-11-30 Thread Jeremy Laine
Package: kdebindings
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hello!

If saw in the changelog that some time ago support for the Perl bindings
was dropped - due to the immaturity of the code from what I gather. I
have experimented with the bindings and they work fine for a basic use
at least.

I played around with the debian/* files and discovered that the bulk of
the bits necessary to build the Perl bindings was still in place so I
produced a patch (attached) which is not very intrusive at all.

I am also attaching an example Perl script which allows you to display
the name of the track currently being played by Amarok to tests the
.debs produced by the patch.

Hope you get round to taking a look at the patch!

Cheers,
Jeremy
