Bug#558132: systemsettings has gone

2009-12-02 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Mensaje citado por Xavier Vello xavier.ve...@gmail.com:

 Hello

So, please, please, could you tell me why I having these inconsistencies
(input/output) error (Error de entrada/salida in spanish)? Nothing
  [...]

This is either a disk error or a filesystem inconsistency (found a bug in
the kernel, yay ^^). You should monitor your harddisk with SMART just in
case it is a hardware failure.

Solved! :-) I rebooted the system, booting in recovery mode, started a root
shell, umounted /usr and ran fsck.ext3 -p -f -c /dev/hda2. Fsck fixed some
inconsistencies and errors in filesystem and everything is now fine (after
reinstalling some packages, being systemsettings one of them).

The only question being open is now: why in booting sequence, system says that
/dev/hda2 was clean? There were indeed errors in filesystem :-?

Bug report against what? fsck? :? I think this is a serious issue...

Thanks a lot!

 Regards

Bug#558132: systemsettings has gone

2009-11-26 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: systemsettings
Version: 4:4.3.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

command systemsettings is no longer present:

teseo:~# which systemsettings
teseo:~#

nor as root nor as a normal user account.

When I tried to launch application from kde menu nothing happens.

From konsole:

jca...@teseo_(~)_$ systemsettings
bash: systemsettings: no se encontró la orden

(command not found in spanish)

:-¿?

By the way, something is really going bad with kde4 in Debian: plasma is
hanging almost all of the time. Hope it will be fixed soon!

Thanks a lot!

This morning I have updated my etch (testing) (I perform a weekly
update). After that, I have started my KDE session from gdm as always
and... it's impossible to work! I can't read any menu option, text in
buttons, konsole was empty (I can see any letter), etc. Only floating
messages in the task bar can be seen. I have started GNOME and at
least I can work. When starting any KDE app from GNOME it happens the
same (I started Kasablanca and the KDE fonts viewer). This is my

Bug#255583: kghostview can't print two pages per sheet

2005-04-25 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: kghostview
Version: 4:3.3.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #255583

Same effect on my system. Whenever I try to print a two page PDF
document printing two pages per sheet, I only get two blank pages :-(

I use CUPS and I have tried to print in an HP LaserJet 8150
Foomatic/Postscript printer. I installed the cups-pdf package and when
printing two pages per sheet using the virtual PDF printer provided
for this package I always get a corrupted PDF file that can't be read
with acroread, kpdf, xpdf or gpdf. I have to say that everything is OK
if I use Kpdf instead. Early version of kghostview printed multiple
pages per sheet OK. Thanks a lot! Your time and efforts are greatly
appreciated.

Regards,

Bug#284067: arts doesn't register sound from microphone input

2004-12-03 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual Argudo
Package: arts
Version: 1.3.1-1
Severity: important

When using krec there is no way to record input from microphone
(connections are OK between micro and soundcard). The problem is
with arts:

1) Kec: Tools menu -- sound manager says that KRec::In, Record,
in_soundcard. No way: record levels doesn't move, it doesn't register
voice or anything. Now, the reason why I think is arts's problem.

2) Krecord doesn't use arts. It tries to access directly to
/dev/dsp. And in fact, *it really gets access to /dev/dsp* (mmmh, it
should be locked by arts, shouldn't it?). With krecord *I do record
voice from microphone input*, but I can't play it within the program
because /dev/dsp is locked by arts (curious, write in /dev/dsp is
locked by arts, but read from /dev/dsp is not, why?) I play the voice
recorded with xmms through arts.

3) And now, which I think is the main fact: then I tried to exec:
artsdsp krecord, therefore forcing krecord to use soundcard through
arts. Result: there is no way to record voice from micro input with
krecord. In short: krecord lets recording sound from micro, artsdsp
krecord don't.

Many thanks for paying attention. Your time and efforts are greatly
appreciated.
