I've just had to delete my karm.ics file, after discovering that it was 2.8MB
in size, filled with VEVENT entries. My guess is that this is related to
the "log history" option, which I've now disabled. I'm fairly certain this
is what was causing my performance problems. 2.8MB flat text ICS files as
event databases would surely cause a similar delay to what I was
experiencing.

I do think this is a valid bug, of the "doesn't scale" variety. IMHO, history
should be logged to another file, and/or in another format.

Bug#238368: kopete: yes, please remove this dependancy

2004-12-06 Thread Lee Braiden
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.3.1-2
Followup-For: Bug #238368

Agreed. Please remove this dependancy. I just manually removed xmms
from kopete's entry in /var/lib/status, uninstalled xmms, and kopete
works fine. I suspect it may be needed for the Now Listening
plugin, but I don't use that, and it should be in another package
if it has strange dependancies and is not normally needed. There's no
reason to keep a dependancy on xmms. If nothing else, please remove the
now listening plugin for now.

Bug#267621: libarts1: white noise and crashes on ppc

2004-08-23 Thread Lee Braiden
Package: libarts1
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: important

Hi,

On PowerPC, arts output (KDE system event sounds) start off with what sounds
like whitenoise. Towards the end of the sample, the intended sound becomes
more audible through the noise, but it never clears up.

Also... I'm guessing this is related, but perhaps not: artsd crashes very
frequently, giving a KDE crash dialog. The backtrace gives no useful
information, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the bad audio.

Bug#254348: my mistake, maybe

2004-06-14 Thread Lee Braiden
Sorry. I just found the pics in a folder I had open in another tab while
moving. Not sure whether konqueror screwed up or me, so I guess this should
be closed :/

Bug#254348: konqueror: loses files on move

2004-06-14 Thread Lee Braiden
Package: konqueror
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I was just moving photos from my usb storage camera (ie, mounted as a
normal vfat fs) to an NFS mounted folder. I think I used cut/paste
rather than move, because dragging the files to the destination gave me
the not possible cursor (crossed circle, like a no-smoking sign).

Anyway, an error message came up immediately upon paste, saying that the
clipboard was empty. Then it showed the normal progress display
for moving the images. When it was done, both folders were empty!

I should probably mention that drag-and-drop often crashes in konqueror,
too. Maybe that's unrelated.
