Bug#877351: libkf5kdegames-dev: cmake config generates wrong include paths

2017-09-30 Thread Yann Dirson
Package: libkf5kdegames-dev
Version: 4:16.08.3-1
Severity: important

Using KDEGAMES_INCLUDE_DIRS in a CMakeLists file does not work as
expected, we get this on commandline:

 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/KF5KDEGames
 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/KF5KDEGames/KDE

The source of the problem seems quite obvious in
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/cmake/KF5KDEGames/KF5KDEGamesConfig.cmake:

 # compute paths
 get_filename_component(KDEGAMES_CMAKE_DIR "${CMAKE_CURRENT_LIST_FILE}" PATH)
 set(KDEGAMES_INCLUDE_DIR "${KDEGAMES_CMAKE_DIR}/")
 set(KDEGAMES_INCLUDE_DIRS "${KDEGAMES_INCLUDE_DIR}"
"${KDEGAMES_INCLUDE_DIR}/KDE")

What seems to have happenned is that while libqt4-opengl links to
libgl1 on all archs, for Qt5 things changed for armel and armhf.

So it does look like this is a Qt5 issue after all: looking that the
package's build-dep, there do not seem to be any arm-specific
discrepancy - but all archs pull both libgl-dev and libgles2-dev.

OTOH, looking at the logs, the armel build does check for varions
versions of "GL ES" (look for that specific string), while the amd64
build does not.

Using GLES on ARM looks like an upstream behaviour, and it may make
sense as ARM is essentially an embedded platform. But then do we want
to restrict ARM to GLES, as we ship libgl1 for ARM as well, and other
archs are also used in embedded space.

Don't we need separate GL and GLES builds of Qt5, for all platforms ?

Or is it simply a bug that Qt5 headers propagate the selected
implementation to the includer source file ?

Hm, how that you mention it: GlOffscreenRenderer only tries to mix
QtOpenGL and GLew, it is *qt5/QtGui/qopengl.h* including GLES.

With all those #ifdef's, it's hard to tell at first sight if qt5opengl
on other archs is doing the same, but
https://packages.debian.org/sid/libqt5gui5 shows that arm* are the
only archs where q5 links to GLES, while it's linking to libgl1 on all
other archs.

No info about this in changelog.Debian, and no README.Debian either
for libqt5gui5. Is that in fact a bug in qtbase-opensource-src ?

qtmultimedia5 and kfreebsd

2014-05-20 Thread Yann Dirson
Hi there,

Although there is no bugreport for this, you probably know that
qtmultimedia-opensource-src does not build[1] on kfreebsd - although a
search on kfreebsd qtmultimedia lists.d.o does not bring a single
result.

qgo has a qt4-based version in jessie, that did build on kfreebsd, but
the qt5-based version now in sid is blocked from entering jessie
because of this build-dep.

Is there a solution in sight for this problem (I understand that a
hell of a lot of work has gone into qt5 packaging recently, but did
not follow things closely, and don't have an idea about the
status/priority of kfreebsd platforms in this work), or should I
rather request removal of the kfreebsd debs from testing to stop them
from blocking all other archs ?

Bug#678324: glib2.0-dev: changes from 2.30.2 to 2.32.3 cause undeclared compatibility breakage for Qt

2012-06-20 Thread Yann Dirson
Package: libglib2.0-dev
Version: 2.32.3-1
X-Debbugs-Cc: qt4-...@packages.debian.org

For various reason I have for now postponned upgrading glib on my
wheezy box, and it is still at 2.30.2-6. In this situation, the
qbuild program fails to work (it is built and tested by the
./configure script from qtmoko, most easily found via
git://github.com/radekp/qtmoko.git).

Now for the details:

* qbuild uses QtCore. With the 4.8.0-1 Qt packages from experimental,
  things were fine, but with the 4.8.1 and 4.8.2 packages things break
  - in fact, the test run does nearly work, but the program stays
  stuck waiting for a QWaitCondition, while the GLib main loop is
  polling.

* if I use a set of Qt 4.8.2 packages, rebuilt on the samemachine, or
  if I run this test with QT_NO_GLIB=1, it does work fine. If I
  rebuild Qt in a sid chroot, the resulting packages do show the
  qbuild test lockup. If I just downgrade glib2.0-dev and the handful
  of packages that must be downgraded with it, in this chroot, the
  resulting packages DO NOT show the qbuild test lockup.

The conclusion seems to be that something in libglib2.0-dev changed
between 2.30.2 and 2.32.3, likely in header files, and related to
g_main_loop, which is causing this breakage, and that somehow packages
built against newer versions of glib (Qt in this case) should have
inherited tighter versionned dependencies against glib in one way or
another. But this may also come from an unwanted change in glib or
another component, glib is just the most likely culprit at this
point...

Most kde apps provide a way to pop up their help file, but
khelpcenter4 is not pulled by any official kde package, even by

I guess it would make sense to have it a dependency of kde-standard.

Bug#551661: kwin: eats all keystrokes after switch desktop and requesting alt-tab

2009-10-19 Thread Yann Dirson
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.3.1-1
Severity: important

Context: this is a machine with several users (in several
simultaneously-running sessions on the same seat) and only 1.5GB of
RAM, so things get swapped out before one user comes back to the seat
while others use it.

In my session I have one main desktop with light apps, and another
one which holds a handful of firefox windows. When I switch to this
FF desktop, it takes some time for it to get responsive - I am not
sure it is only a matter of FF being swapped out, since even the
active window frame drawn by kwin does not get drawn before a couple
of seconds.

Now if I do not wait for the desktop switch to stabilize after
Ctrl-F2, and start going Alt-TAB-TAB in the hope to reach a particular
FF window rapidly, it sometimes happen that the keyboard stops
responding:

- no wm shortcuts (alt-tab, ctrl-Fn, etc)
- no key event receieved by the active window
- still able to switch desktop and apps with the mouse
- still able to Ctrl-Alt-Fn to another VC and use the keyboard there

Now if I killall kwin and switch back to X, I can then use the
keyboard again and restart one from my xterm, and all is good (until
the time I get impatient again).

What kind of additional information would be useful here ?

package already recommends libqca2-plugin-ossl, and when I install
that package the connexion correctly gets established.

Furthermore, when libqca2-plugin-ossl is not installed, after I get
this install QCA TLS message while asking to get online, asking
online again does not bring this message before I ask to go offline
first. Looks like some state variable is changed too early...

Bug#509354: libkdegames4: contains library with .5 soname

2008-12-21 Thread Yann Dirson
Package: libkdegames4
Version: 4:4.1.3-1
Severity: normal

For some reason the soname change got unnoticed. Early versions of
this package indeed had a .4 lib, but this probably changed around the
4.1 release.

To allow grouping with other modelers, such as blender (for which I requested
the hint to fixed):

section=Apps/Graphics\
hints=KDE,Modeler\
title=KPovModeler\
command=/usr/bin/kpovmodeler

much like xdvi:
- section should be Apps/Viewers
- hints should contain hints=DVI,Documents

That gives:

?package(kdvi):\
needs=X11\
section=Apps/Viewers\
hints=KDE,DVI,Documents\
title=kdvi\
command=/usr/bin/kdvi
