Bug#745875: /usr/bin/kwin: KWin consumes 100% of one of my CPUs while idle

2014-06-28 Thread Marc Coll
Hello. I recently discovered that the screen lock under control panel's
"Screen and Monitor" section was enabled, and after I disabled it my CPU
consumption is back to normal. I guess the scren lock feature is somehow
related to this bug.

Bug#745875: /usr/bin/kwin: KWin consumes 100% of one of my CPUs while idle

2014-04-26 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kde-window-manager
Version: 4:4.11.8-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/kwin

KWin consumes 100% of one of my CPUs while the computer is idle. I suspect it
has something to do with the screensaver, because it stops doing so whenever I
press any key or move the mouse. I made a small script that run top every 10
seconds and logs it to a file, and I got lots of this kind of reports:

top - 09:47:36 up 18:13, 5 users, load average: 1,00, 1,03, 1,05
Tasks: 139 total, 3 running, 136 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
%Cpu(s): 9,4 us, 28,7 sy, 0,5 ni, 60,4 id, 0,8 wa, 0,0 hi, 0,1 si, 0,0 st
KiB Mem: 2058752 total, 1970636 used,88116 free,48248 buffers
KiB Swap: 4200992 total, 2596 used, 4198396 free. 1205316 cached Mem

  PID USER PR NIVIRTRESSHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
17638 marc 20 0 2928228 96636 63516 R 103,7 4,7 661:16.57 kwin

Notice the amount of accumulated CPU time. The screensaver is configured to
just show the blank screen, so it really shouldn't affect performance.

Bug#650207: kde: Recently used menu entry doesn't work

2011-11-27 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kdebase-workspace
Version: 4:4.6.5-3
Severity: normal
File: kde

In the app launcher menu configuration I select the "Recently used" option, and
it shows up on the menu. But for some reason, it disappears after I restart
KDE. It's as if the configuration wasn't getting saved to disk. But if I check
my ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc I cn see the following line:

views=Applications,RecentlyUsed,RunCommand,Leave

which I suspect means that it has actually been stored to disk. How can this be
possible?

Bug#599707: [kcalc] Pasting numbers from the clipboard doesn't always work

2010-10-10 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kcalc
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
If I copy an integer number (like 10) it copies and pastes without
problems, but if the number is a float (like 3.14) it doesn't. I believe
it's probably because of my locale settings. In my country (Spain) we
use a comma to separate the decimals instead of a dot, so I guess it can
cause problems if anyone tought about it when pasting from the clipboard.

Bug#585751: kde-plasma-desktop: KDE desktop is completely screwed up after last upgrade

2010-06-13 Thread Marc Coll
Package: kde-plasma-desktop
Version: 5:62
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Today, after doing an upgrade, my KDE desktop is completely screwed up.
All I can see is a white background, with some red squares with a white
cross in them spread over the desktop. No widgets, no background, no menu,
no task list... nothing at all. Not even an error message.

If I press Alt+F2, the launcher window appears, but it doesn't work.
Luckily for me, Yakuake loads automatically on startup, and from there I
can launch my applications. Normal KDE applications, like KWrite or Dolphin,
seem to be working fine, so it looks like a desktop issue.

Bug#388619: knetwalk: Knetwalk still crashes when solved

2006-09-21 Thread marc coll
Package: knetwalk
Version: 4:3.5.4-2+b1
Severity: important

I see there's another similar resolved bug, but seems like either it's not
completely resolved,
or either this is a new one.
When I solve the game, a segfault occurs, and I see this if I start it from
konsole:

QGArray::at: Absolute index 4 out of range
KCrash: Application 'knetwalk' crashing...

Then KCrash shows up, but shows nothing interesting (no debugging symbols
found).

Only happens running the game as a normal user. If I run it as root, then it
works fine (!?).
I've tried to generate a core file, but to no avail.

Bug#312926: kget: Problem downloading files > 4GB

2005-06-10 Thread marc coll
Package: kget
Version: 4:3.3.2-5
Severity: important

When downloading files larger yhan 4GB (Sarge DVD 1 ISO image, for example),
KGet reports an incorrect file size, 4GB less than real. So, I guess an
unsigned
int is not enough to hold the file size ;)

I don't know if the file downloads well anyway (I'm not going to download a 4GB
file just to find out it hasn't downloaded correctly and I wasted my
time/bandwidth!),
but I suppose it doesn't.

Bug#255036: kpackage: RESULT=130

2004-06-18 Thread marc coll
Package: kpackage
Version: 4:3.2.2-1
Severity: important

When I try to isntall some package, and it downloads the package, some times
(not always) it
stops, and shows me the message "RESULT=130". I copy&paste exactly what I got
last time:

ftp://ftp.fr.debian.org testing/main samba-common 3.0.2a-1 [1694kB]
20% [1 samba-common 803272/1694kB 47%] 13.4kB/s
3m58s
RESULT=130

Of course, if I do it directly with apt-get, from console, it works perfectly,
so guess it's
kpackage fault.

Bug#195398: kpackage: Can't open a pseudo teletype

2004-02-01 Thread marc coll
Package: kpackage
Version: 4:3.1.5-1
Severity: normal
Followup-For: Bug #195398

Kpackage doesn't work with kernel 2.6. Since I changed from 2.4 to 2.6,
it keeps saying "Can't open a pseudo teletype", and it doesn't run at all.
The strange thing is that I am able tu run it as root, but when running it
as a normal user, it doesn't work. Maybe it has something to do with devfs,
as I wasn't using it with kernel 2.4.
