Bug#680164: Ability to rotate single pages

2012-07-04 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.7.4-2
Severity: wishlist

It would be great if I could rotate single pages within a document,
e.g. I want to view the document as is, but page 3 should be
rotated, not the rest.

Thanks for your consideration,

Bug#690076: fails to decrypt PDF 1.7 files

2012-10-09 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular

It seems that okular fails to decrypt PDF 1.7 files that have been
password-protected. I have verified the document on another platform
and there it works with the given password, but okular just keeps
telling me that the password is incorrect.

So the problem seems to be beyond okular. Please feel free to

2009-08-18 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular

The "Facing pages" view mode is nice but wrongly implemented: page
1 is not on the left of page 2, but rather page 1 is on the right

Bug#542361: Takes ages to start, connect() to FAM socket blocks

2009-08-19 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.3.0-1
Severity: important

Sometimes okular just doesn't want to start. According to strace
(attached), it blocks at the following call:

  socket(PF_FILE, SOCK_STREAM, 0) = 10
  connect(10, {sa_family=AF_FILE, path=@"/tmp/fam-madduck-"}, 110

I do not have fam installed, nor does okular depend, suggest, or
recommend it. It also seems like the socket pathname is incomplete.

Bingo.

As discussed on IRC with Pino, maybe this option should default to
'on' and be removed from the UI and only available in the config

treat the first page special.

This bug hit with okular is in fact due to libgamin unable to fully

not Provide the library as virtual package.

Bug#544149: please quit unused kded4 and kdeinit4 processes

2009-08-29 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kdelibs-bin
Version: 4:4.3.0-2
Severity: wishlist

I started okular last night and quit it again. This morning, I still
find kde* processes in my process table:

  madduck 25355 0.0 0.0 485192 436 ?SAug04 0:12 kded4
  madduck 29378 0.0 0.0 337548 298 ?Ss Aug19 0:00 kdeinit4:

  madduck 29379 0.0 0.0 241664 1436 ?SAug19 0:00 kdeinit4:
klauncher [kdeinit] --fd=8

That's 1Gb of virtual memory even though there is *nothing* KDE-ish
running anymore.

Those processes are probably necessary by design. Let's not get into
that. But they should really kill themselves when no longer used.

Bug#559873: reports slews of "Bogus memory allocation size" errors to stderr

2009-12-07 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.3.2-1
Severity: minor

Many PDFs that I open with okular cause hundreds of lines "Bogus
memory allocation size" printed to stderr. This messes up the
display of programmes like mutt or mc, and fills ~/.xsession-errors.

Instead of reporting a memory allocation error, okular should
probably just handle the situation. It's not like this is of
interest to the user.

Unfortunately, I do not (yet) have a PDF that elicits this
behaviour, which I can share. I will update the report as soon as
I come across one.

Bug#353576: infinite recursion in filesystem

2006-02-19 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kamera
Severity: normal
Version: 4:3.5.1-2

We configured our Canon Digital IXUS 40 in the control centre and
were notified of a new "USB Imaging Interface" when we connected
the camera via USB, and opening the file browser makes
"system:/media/camera" load in konqueror. The pseudo-folder contains
another folder with the name of the camera ("Canon Digital ..."),
which takes us to "system:/media/camera/camera" with another
subfolder, which takes us to "system:/media/camera/camera/camera" ad
infinitum. Starting at the third level, we get an error message in
the main window, but the tree view on the left still allows to
navigate to other subfolders (always ./camera).

Is this our fault?

Bug#248865: kde: cdrom auto-icon forces noexec option

2004-05-13 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kde
Version: 3.2.2-1
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Tags: upstream

Sorry for filing this here, I am not acquainted with kde, so I don't
know the appropriate subpackage...

Anyhow, tagging this upstream...

Problem is when you configure automatic desktop icons for unmounted
CD-ROM etc. devices, clicking on the device mounts it automatically
with options noexec, nodev, nosuid -- this is *very* nice actually,
but at times it is a problem, when the user wants to legitimally run
an executable from a CD-ROM.

It would be nice to have a feature to allow the overriding of the
noexec option on a per-case basis.

Thanks,

Bug#248868: kde: new user default config is extraordinarily ugly

2004-05-13 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kde
Version: 3.2.2-1
Severity: minor
X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We installed two new KDE systems yesterday with
`apt-get install x-window-system kde`. This worked like a charm, but
when we logged in for the first time, the desktop was
extraordinarily ugly, for the following reasons:

  - the background looks like downtown houston[0], except more boring
  - thee desktop icon filenames have a shadow that makes them
basically unreadable
  - font anti-aliasing is turned off, catapulting us back to the
pixelised eighties, or earlier

it would be nice to have the default configuration be a little more
friendly to the retina. i suggest using the default_blue background,
which has become a KDE standard, to choose white text on clear
background without shadows for the desktop icons, and to turn
anti-aliasing on by default. the only argument against that, which
i can see, is performance. however, if that's a concern, then KDE is
not right in the first place, especially not 3.x.

0. no offence intended

Bug#250765: kdm: never spawns a login shell; thus ~/.bash_profile is never read

2004-05-24 Thread martin f krafft
Package: kdm
Version: 3.2.2-1
Severity: normal

I hope this is the right package to file this bug.

On all KDE systems I administer, ~/.bash_profile is never read.
Thus, any entries in there -- quite a few in the case of
a programmer -- are never read. I think this is because KDM never
spawns a login shell, and Konsole doesn't either. Could this please
be fixed? There are a lot of reasons why kdmsession or the like
should be started as a child of a proper login shell.

Thanks,

So the obvious solution is to for kdm to cause the monitor to
explode in the face of the csh user, and to have

you mean 'source /etc/bash_completion'? I think '. /etc...' is
/bin/sh. source is bashism. At least that's what lintian says...

Yes, but perl isn't on every system...

Bug#752880: Filling in forms requires patience

2014-06-27 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.13.1-2
Severity: normal

When I show forms in Okular, it sometimes obscures the actual PDF.
The input fields are mis-aligned, the check boxes and radio buttons
do not show the state, and if I scroll around a bit, it gets worse
and worse until I hide/show the forms and start again.

In addition, it's not possible to remove check boxes, i.e. once
they're checked, you cannot remove the checkmark.

Am I doing something wrong?

I assume you didn't have time to do this. I can report this
upstream, but I would really like to know which package is at fault.
Should I file this against okular? Isn't it much more likely that
the problem is deep down in a KDE or Qt library?

Bug#740707: okular freezes when printer is no longer accessible

2014-03-04 Thread martin f krafft
Package: okular
Version: 4:4.11.5-1
Severity: normal

In random intervals, okular will hang for minutes. I found that it's
due to it waiting on a socket:

  poll([{fd=15, events=POLLIN|POLLOUT}], 1, 250) = 0 (Timeout)

which goes on for a long time.

According to lsof, it's trying to talk to the print server:

  okular 27987 madduck 15u IPv43586963 0t0 TCP
192.168.43.164:35068->192.168.14.2:ipp (SYN_SENT)

which is unreachable, for obvious reasons (different RFC1918 net).

It may be that this only happens when I start okular in the
192.168.14.0/24 network, then suspend the laptop and move elsewhere.
I have not really had the chance to isolate this.

However, I don't think okular should be talking to the print server
anyway, that's cups' job, and cups properly handles disconnections
and roaming between network, unreachable printers and other
exceptions. Okular should not try to do itself what others are
already doing, especially not if it doesn't end up doing it
properly.

Thanks.

My account seems to be gone, which is a shame. I have signed up for
a new one, but the confirmation is getting greylisted somewhere, it
seems. We'll see.

I would prefer if you filed it upstream, not because I don't want to
do the work, but because you know KDE much better. I only use
okular, nothing else.
