I suspect the problem here is that other diplay managers set a certain dpi when starting X, whereas kdm by default lets X autodetect the dpi. (Which is a great thing, I think.) I can't reproduce this. Changing the fonts in the Control Center changes the font sizes as you would expect. I suspect what you're finding is that when you start KDE using 'startx' or xdm, it uses a setting of 100 dpi to render fonts, whereas kdm tries to use DDC info to determine your monitor's 'true' dpi, and sets your font sizes accordingly. Hence the observed differences in font size between using kdm and not. You can force kdm to start KDE with a certain dpi value by editing /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc; a setting of 100 would probably return your fonts to the expected sizes. If my theory is incorrect, let me know. Otherwise, if I don't hear from you, I'll close this report. Cheers, Christopher Martin pgptxpEUdihP1.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#316899: KDM overrides kde default settings
Package: kdm Version: 3.4.1-1 Severity: normal After installing kdm the fonts in kde are rendered smaller even if the size declared in the Control Center has not been changed. It seems that KDM overrides the whole KDE fonts settings, because after purging the kdm package everythings gets normal. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (900, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-kgb Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
