Bug#362924: xorg 7 breaks kdm
severity 362924 normal quit On Sun, Apr 16, 2006 at 04:00:31PM +0200, Arne Anka wrote: > Package: kdm > Version: 4:3.5.2-1 > Severity: grave > Justification: renders package unusable > after upgrade to xorg 7 kdm fails to start: > kdm[15418]: X server "/usr/X11R6/bin/X" cannot be executed > no wonder -- there's no /usr/X11R6/bin/X anymore. There is if you upgrade to the latest xorg packages. Ideally, packages should still be updated to reference /usr/bin instead of /usr/X11R6/bin, but this is no longer required for etch. If the maintainers are going to point to /usr/bin/X for etch, one of two things is required: - provide a fallback to /usr/X11R6/bin/X if /usr/bin/X is not found, or - depend on x11-common (>= 1:7.0.0) and I would strongly advise *against* the latter, since it will make it much harder for apt to calculate an upgrade path from sarge to etch. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Version 7.0.12 of x11-common and xserver-xorg should fix this IMHO. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
